Didnt know where to put it so put it here, MGP just scored for Norway, a nice goal.

Bloody hell, I've just seen Scotland's group. That should have been a walk in the park!

Nice goal by MGP as you say, hopefully someone will bid for him based on that!

Handing out fat contracts to the likes of Andrews and Gally(no club can afford him after going out on loan half a dozen times now)doesnt help the cause.......Lucky for Williams his contract is going to on run out so saving his blusses..........I agree Rovers are stuck with the banks sucking all the revenue out but Thats what you get when you make a deal with the Devil........he wants your soul In return......Back your manager is all iam saying..........very basic...Why should Big sam have to pay for the previous managers mistakes...........

What isWilliams supposed to back him with?

We are owned by a trust, that means one person does not make the decisions. At least two members of the trust have to authorise any significant movements in my experience of dealing with trusts.

He would have been given a budget to manage and will be pretty much tied to the budgetted costs.

Williams I am sure will back Sam if asked by the trust but he will only have so much influence.

There was also something mentioned about the trustees putting in £3.5 million- something which they have done for a few seasons, surely this covered the purchase of Givet?

That was only a loan which had to be repaid.

It's not a shambles if it hasn't happened yet... ;)

Well you could say, it has happened in the past. Sell a good player for good money, and replace with a cheap option. Or as in Bentley's case, replace with nobody. We just being blind about it.

All hail the mighty Pedersen! There is no way imo we can sell him, he's one of our best players!

If 16000 fans paid £400 a piece for tikets rovers would take 6.4 million.

If as rumoured 18500 buy at £200 a piece rovers take 3.7 million.

Obviously this is a simplistiic view and rovers would NEVER sell 16000 tickets at £400! but there woud certainly not be £5million difference (more realistically a max of £2.5 million or less

Lets just say a substantial amount is set aside for loss of ticket sales revenue you maybe the closer wing wizard.

As Parsonblue states theres also the failed Ince regime to pay off what a wonderful world we live in.

Still nobody is commenting about this near £3m bill for building work.

Hull City and Blackburn Rovers have both reportedly matched Real Madrid's £15million asking price for striker Alvaro Negredo.

The 23-year-old's agent also insists that his client has not ruled out a move to Zenit St Petersburg, who are understood to have offered the player a hefty £60,000 a week.

The representative Alejandro Camano has confirmed talks with Hull chairman Phil Duffen and has also been talking to Roma, but Madrid are not keen on the loan deal that the Italians are offering.

The La Liga giants sold the player to Almeria last summer but brought him back on a buy-back option for £4.25m purely with objective of selling him on at a higher price and offered him to Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool earlier this summer.

Madrid would like a similar buy-back option when they sell him on and are keen to see how he adjusts to English football after rejecting approaches from Sevilla and Villarreal.

On talks with Duffen, Camano told the Hull Daily Mail: 'I have had calls with the chairman. He (Negredo) likes the team and it's possible he will play in the Premier League. The chairman is a good man but the deal is not totally 100 per cent yet.'

Real Madrid's Alvaro Negredo

Negredo is thought to be concerned that Hull could struggle in the Premier League this season and Camano said: 'I spoke with the Roma management, and the Giallorossi would be an ideal club for my client.

'However, this does not mean that he is close to Roma. Things can change very quickly in football.

'It is true that the player is also sought after in England, but the only certain thing right now is that he is a Real player and anything can happen. Zenit? It is a possibility.'

Blackburn have signed strikers Nikola Kalinic from Hadjuk Split and Franco di Santo on loan from Chelsea but still have money to spend after raising £21m from the sales of Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire to Manchester City and Olympiakos respectively.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, surely can't be true. Can it?

Whilst we all remember Jack's comment about the club having to become self sufficient in time, I'm sure he didn't mean we had to sell our best players in order to be so. I would imagine his ideal scenario would have been for the people of Blackburn to have finally got behind the team en masse, filling the ground every week and the success of the team on the pitch generating profit rather than loss.

Is the present situation John Williams' fault? Obviously not. After all you can't get blood out of a stone and that's pretty much what the Walker family are these days. Again it's not really the fault of the trust either as (correct me if I'm wrong) have no family connection with the Walker family. It's not their money to spend either!

What I will always find strange is the spending spree we went on the last time we gained promotion. The signings of Grabbi (thank god we invite players for trials these days!) and Cole cost in the region of £15 million but from memory the only player sacrificed to make way was the innefective Marcus Bent, certainly not one of the better players we had at the club at the time.

Since the sale of Duffer it's been almost like a switch was flicked and the people with their hands on the purse strings realised the club could plod along by trading any and every decent player the respective manager managed to pick up for buttons.

People have the right to have a go at the players who decide they are better than BRFC, and to laugh at them when they consistently fail at their new clubs, but if the Walker family had even just 10% of the interest Jack had in the club then maybe the grass would look just as greener down at Ewood.

It annoys me that the family seem quite willing to run the club into the ground but at the same time are obviously asking for such an inflated figure that has put off any and every potential buyer. Surely the asking price would plummit were the club to be relegated? Do the decent thing and give the club away for a fiver if it means that little to you.

Even Notts County have managed to find a mega rich buyer. Maybe they will rival Villa in the hunt for Stevie Warnock and put the selling price up!

the debate rages once again on rovers finances and spending power , anyone who has witnessed rovers transfer dealings over the last 30 years will tell you apart for a few glorious years under jack walker the club has always sold players and replaced them with players that cost a fraction of the monies raised, whilst we would all love to be back in the early to mid 90's the facts are rovers HAVE to be a selling club to keep standing still in the present footballing climate , a climate where £10m only gets you a player the top 6 dont want and where £100k a week wages no longer are met with sharp intakes of breath , if and when we sell our better players we have to get the best possible fee and for those who constantly slag off John Williams , Duff , Bentley & Santa Cruz were all sold for imo over inflated prices , now if and when warnock leaves we will get the best possible deal , i have no doubt in that , and if a fraction of that fee goes on a replacement , then albeit , Big Sam will never get any plaudits from me on his style and manner of football , but is there a better manager we could have at selling high , buying cheap and still continue to be a PL CLUB

Two goals for Gamst in Norway - Scotland.

Looked great. Give him a new contract and tie him up.

Don't let him go. He's gonna be great this season.

Until Norway scored it was like a Fizzy pop play-off match. All effort and committment but little skill. After they scored and Scotland went down to 10 men they became a rabble. I'd love to think that the Dingles might just do the same this season.
