I still reckon MGP playing a more forward role will have a good season, too many managers tried to change his style of play (possibly to assist the more attack minded warnock), hell I have heard enough comments in the last couple of seasons about how much he has improved his tackling etc..

I guess we better give in on the finance row.. will end up the same debate we have had for a few years.. :( And I disagree that since JW we turned into a selling club, hell look at the daft money we spent on Grabbi and co.. only this and last pre-season have we failed to re-invest the money we got from sales... and look how last season went as a whole.

Still we have a better squad today that we did this time last august, guess we should be happy with that even if most of us can see us selling our fourth player of the year in four years.

In terms of transfers, Nicko do you think there is money hidden away somewhere already earmarked for another player?

Did Shikabala ever turn up for a trial Nicko?

Not to my knowledge...think he is injured...but lost interest in him when he missed Confederations Cup...he wouldn't get a work permit surely...

It would appear to be very well hidden at the moment...this is going to become a pretty big subject in the coming weeks.

Nicko, any idea of Salgado has been spotted about today?

No...the only good news is that he hasn't turned up anywhere else as far as I know...don't think the players were in today...but I am not quite so confident on this one as the hours go on.

Handing out fat contracts to the likes of Andrews and Gally(no club can afford him after going out on loan half a dozen times now)doesnt help the cause.......Lucky for Williams his contract is going to on run out so saving his blusses..........I agree Rovers are stuck with the banks sucking all the revenue out but Thats what you get when you make a deal with the Devil........he wants your soul In return......Back your manager is all iam saying..........very basic...Why should Big sam have to pay for the previous managers mistakes...........

But you still haven't answered the question. John Williams is employed by the club. The Trustees are clearly not putting anymore money into the club. Therefore where is John Williams supposed to find the money that will back the manager?

nicko, anything you can tell us in regards to why you think the coffers have been locked up?

I have to tell you I am shocked by developments on that one.

A couple of weeks ago there was supposed to be £5 million or so kicking about for a new Tugay...now Rovers can't afford a right back on a free or a couple of virtually free Frenchmen.

I feel the Salgado thing is going to become a big issue.

What i noticed about pedersen today was, he played a more central role and drifted more in towards the centre of the park when he did go out on the left, mostly due to the reason of risse bomarding it down the left wing, which allowed him ro drift more into a central position on the park and if you saw the first goal you would seen his positioning. Usually, at rovers he never seems to be get into that sort of positions beacuse he's too busy running up and down the white line on the left wing for 90 minutes. Today, he seemed to be pooping up all over the place. Hopefully, this wasn't a 1 off beacuse it's time for him to show he desrves to put on the blue and white shiry :brfcsmilie:

Just one thought on this too...

Where would Rovers have been if Roque had not gone?

Enough to give you the shudders. I recall getting slaughtered for saying they might have to sell Warnock to buy Givet. Think that summary of the finances might have been more accurate than initially thought.

Are you saying its something Sam could walk out on the club for? Surely they wouldnt let it go that far!?

No, but the mood is rather black in some quarters just now.

The Sky TV pix of the gaffer's face at the presser tomorrow may tell as much of that story as any words.

Against Hibs he was hiding more between Di Santo and Roberts than running down the left side...

so it would appear that because of our poor finish last year and the compo handed to Ince we're up the creek with no paddle with only the Roque money for buoyancy?

I can't see that happening in the short term. Long term is a different story I can see Sam walking if he feels he has taken the team as far as he can with the resources available.

Not surprised the money may have gone Nicko, with Sam talking up N’zonzi quite a bit in recent weeks and us looking at some cheap players/freebies it was pretty obvious money was tight.

I think this has nothing to do with our poor finish. Its been happening every summer. We havent spent money since the heydays of Souness. Its just getting tighter and tighter.

My question is if they want to tighten the strings why do they invite people like Salgado and Rothen over?

If the money thing is such a big issue why the hell was Sam allowed to bring Salgado in the begin with? A waste of everyone's time and effort by the looks.

I wonder if this is more to do with the wage bill rather than the transfer bill...

Do we know how much that was? I've a notion that it's not that much.
