Sorry if this has already been mentioned recently, but can somebody clarify what the situation is with Dunn and Grella? When are these guys reported to be available for first team selection again? If we were to keep Dunn fit all season, then we have a top ten side. Unfortunately, I cannot see that happening.

Both in full training just not much game time under their belts. According to Dunn in today Lancs Telegraph, he could play on saturday.

I completely understand the need to ship out some players - we've got far too many average players in certain area's. If the board have said "get rid of a few before you can bring some in" then I can understand this.

I just get the feeling that Sam has a much smaller budget than he thought/hoped he would get.

Im sure Sam would of been fully aware. We are in a stronger position now, and we will be in a even better position next summer - LETS KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH!!!

We have got three players with a combined wage of £100K a week in Dunn, Reid and MGP with one year remaining on their contracts, do they deserve another? Certainly not at the level they have been.

Who could we shift right now to make money? Warnock, Gally, Rigters are three that we can afford to lose and get new players in- thats nearly £70k in wages there!

I think what is also being highlighted is that this is no short term fix, we need to get rid of deadwood and then purchase players, we have 29 players in our first team, that is 7 too many.

The time has come to realise that we're indeed a selling club.

This isn't about Salgado, but if we can't even sign freebies then how is Sam going to work his magic? We're still desperately lacking in the midfield department and all our incomings are without significant PL experience.

I am sure the phone is ringing off the hook for potential buyers for Rigters. We couldn't even get rid of him to a League Two (One?) team after he failed to impress on a trial. Nobody in the football league wants him.

We've more chance of selling Brown and Gallagher. Zurab and Andrews maybe too. Warnock only if we have to.

He can sign but as more people have mentioned, look at our midfield departement:

Reid, Grella, Dunn, Andrews, El rio Van Heerden, Diouf, Pedersen, Nzonzi, Emerton, Judge, Doran, Hoilett

We can't have another midfielder unless we ship someone out!

You can't blame Sam, because this happened before his regime and you can't blame JW because he has always been backing his manager.

ok we might not be skint and are just not taking (RISKS) which i am happy with, because i don't want our club to be another Leeds Utd. What i don't understand is why the hell did Sam meet up with Salgado the other night, when we can't afford him?

Strange one about Selgado flying in when we must have known his wage demands. However, I'd rather us live within our means than get saddled with debt by paying a right back silly money. Yes he's a good player but if we're gonna smash the wage threshold, at least do it with someone with a sell on value and for an offensive attacking player that can win us matches.

I like this frugal approach by Rovers. We've no investment and it's the only way we're going to compete/survive. Yes it's frustrating but it's a business at the end of the day!

I would think that it needs to be better communicated to the manager. This episode smacks of undermining the manager and leaving him with a lot of egg on his face and I cannot see that resting easily with SA either. Maybe waggy will get his wish soon as another half decent club sacks their manager.

I guess there is money available but only for investing in younger players who can be sold on for profit. Investment in too many(and that is the key) old players is just wasted money and that was never the Walker way. Apart from Marker and Gayle we largely bought young players when Jack Walker was in charge. It really is our only way forward.

The Golden Goose Mark Hughes from a standing start of virtually nothing left us players which we have profited on to the tune of 50m in just 3-4 years, I guess this is the blueprint that SA is being asked to work to and is so then quite right. I don't know the figures involved but my eyebrows raised when I saw that SA was planning to bring two possible 'Vogel' types in at once.

People complained when we let Bentley go and Roque go without having a replacement lined up.

For me we have the reverse scenario here, Sam has the replacements ready (Hence why he brought them over to have a look and make sure they were up to it) now if he wants to bring them in he has to offload someone.

We can't complain about not having replacements lined up and then complain when they are.

I rate Warnock and I like him very much as a player and in a perfect world would like to keep him but ever since Givet signed permanently it hasn't added up to me. Both of their best position is LB, Warnock could possibly play in midfield but not sure if it's the answer. Unfortunately we don't seem to be in a financial position to have either Givet or Warnock on the bench.

We sell two quality strikers for vast profits and bring in one average cost signing and a load of free's and now we are skint and possible in a worse position with quality in the squad. Is our board run by mp's by any chance cos they seem just as bent.

DONT TALK BROWN STUFF!!!

Reality check: RSC did not want to play for Blackburn Rovers anymore, he was unhappy and wanted to move to a 'bigger club'. He did nothing last season, except for talk to the radio station back home. He was shipped at out ASAP by Sam and for a big £18m sum, the muppet is now injured again and out until at least Mid September.

Derbs could score as a late sub, that was about it....Sam pretty much said the same thing.

Right back was identified as an issue - he brought in a specialist right back

Givet - Who was class last season, has been signed full time.

We have added pace and alot more youth and promise, and we have also added 2 highly rated strikers.

Worse Position?:lol: Il bet you £1000 we finish higher than last season!????

Hughesy if I ever one day hit the big time I'm signing you as my PR man! ;)

No probs

You could hardly call Warnock dead wood though could you?

nice sentiment, but a balance has to be struck somewhere along the line between being prudent and remaining competitive in this league. you can just as easily go the way of leeds, southampton et al by being too tight and not bringing in enough quality where it`s needed. david blunkett could see our central midfield problems, and yet again they are left unadressed because we have walking wounded by the bucketload already for those posistions. the fact is that dunn and reid would fetch zero in the transfer market now, and if it`s the case they have to first be moved on before we replace them, then that suggests that we`ll bring in their successors with the funds generated by their sale. going off the percentage we`ve recieved from other outgoing transfers to buy replacements, that should give us about 500,000 grand to replace both.

the club had 15m worth of easily workable debt prior to the start of this season, that gives us a certain amount of leeway to `speculate to accumilate` for the future good of the team. if it is not done, we are dieing a slow death as a premier league club.

Am I missing something here, our country is heading for Bankruptcy with millions upon millions heading for a maximum income of £60 a week, and we are moaning about Rovers being unable to employ A.N.Other footballer on a fantastic salary whilst having enough personnel to put out nearly THREE teams not just the one.

I think Rovers are a richer football club than most would you not agree.

Can't you see that the manager could be in the process of taking the steps necessary to enable us to afford him? Isn't that what the Warnock stuff is all about?(not that I agree he should be sold).

I would be sad if we offloaded Warnock (28 yrs, on the break of the england national team) to bring in 33 yrs old Salgado (RB)

when we have Jacobsen and Emerton who could play there.

All this talk of "money in here, money out there" is starting to sound like Burnley fans on Radio Lancashire.

We should not be encouraging the club to overspend. It's not like our assets are being liquidised.

No one is going to invest in the club as they won't make any money.

Is someone wants to buy the club and put money in then great, but until then we need to remain as financially sound as possible.

The area we need to develop is the academy. We need to produce some first teamers within 2 years.

I too am unhappy with Andrews having to play in our centre mid in any match but at least he won't be partnered by Mokoena this season!

The key to this season will be a solid defence. We lost a good player in Ooijer and I would like to see a decent right back in.
