Torgeir Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Sorry Torgier but weve simply too many players on the books, the prompt is to offload some now. I thought that was what we'd been doing all summer.

gazsimm Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Can't you see that the manager could be in the process of taking the steps necessary to enable us to afford him? Isn't that what the Warnock stuff is all about?(not that I agree he should be sold). i don't think Warnocok has nothing to do with it. I think Sam thought he could sign Salgado, with no others leaving, but got knocked back by the board.
nicko Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 First of all...to clear one up. The Civelli story isn't mine...seems a bit odd that it would be back on...but you never know. The Salgado stuff IS mine...didn't even make the 'paper' up here, but is on the internet.
my_name_is_Earl Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 At the end of this coming season, I would like to see Sam get rid of Reid, Dunn and Grella if they don't play in a certain number of games this coming season. That area of the team is prone to letting us down and they should be shipped out and replaced with players who will be more available. The problem we have is that we have too many players on very good contracts who aren't playing nowhere near as much as they should be able too. Once we get rid, we can finally sign someone who is likely to be available every week.
saxo1man30 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I too am unhappy with Andrews having to play in our centre mid in any match but at least he won't be partnered by Mokoena this season! mokoena`s tough defensive sheild play earned the side more points than andrews does. i personally think andrews costs the side more points than he earns us.
greggyk Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Why do we want Rothen and Salgado? We are looking for a proper attacking midfielder Agreed..not a bad thing at all if we don't sign Salgado...we need centre midfielders ffs! Why waste HUUUUGE wages on someone who is not a priority position- just for the sake of signing a 'name'??

Why waste HUUUUGE wages on someone who is not a priority position- just for the sake of signing a 'name'?? because he is total quality and would earn the side points just for that reason. he`s not just a `name`, he`s a top player, and he doesn`t just have one year in him either. top players last until their late 30`s these days due to improved fitness because of the healthy way in which they live their lives.
Al Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Quite right it doesnt. We borrow money to fund the fact that oeprationally we have lost a shedload of money each financial year bar one for as long asI can remember. Then every now and then we sell a player for a lot of money and pay some of it back. No we haven't. According to the accounts the last two years published have been profitable. The trustees appear to be trying to reduce the value of their investment to the detriment of the team.
saxo1man30 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Andrews goals earned us more points than Mokoenas. andrews giving the ball away leading to numerous goals conceded minuses off his goals scored. he is garbage.
MeanGreenMachine Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 DONT TALK BROWN STUFF!!! Reality check: RSC did not want to play for Blackburn Rovers anymore, he was unhappy and wanted to move to a 'bigger club'. He did nothing last season, except for talk to the radio station back home. He was shipped at out ASAP by Sam and for a big £18m sum, the muppet is now injured again and out until at least Mid September. Derbs could score as a late sub, that was about it....Sam pretty much said the same thing. Right back was identified as an issue - he brought in a specialist right back Givet - Who was class last season, has been signed full time. We have added pace and alot more youth and promise, and we have also added 2 highly rated strikers. Worse Position? Il bet you £1000 we finish higher than last season!???? No probs I talk brown stuff? RSC is pretty much the perfect target man, you telling me di santo and kalinic are better players than RSC and Derbs? So what if they dont want to be here, RSC was on a 4 year deal. We brought in a specialist right back? Yeh but pity he is pretty pants. Givet signing is the only silver lining from all this for me. and "Worse Position? Il bet you £1000 we finish higher than last season!????" What a stupid statement, we had a pleb in charge half of last season. Compare it to when sparky was here is a more balenced comparison. Due to the board pocketing cash and not backing the manager we lost hughes (our best manager since king kenny) when we were on the cusp of breaking the top 6 on a consistant basis. I like JW and dont blame him, its just the rest we the swag bags and deep pockets i dont trust.
thenodrog Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 The problem we have is that we have too many players on very good contracts who aren't playing nowhere near as much as they should be able too. Once we get rid, we can finally sign someone who is likely to be available every week. It's getting the sick-notes and glass backs to bugger off rather than sit on the sidelines running down their contracts that cocks everything up for a club with limited funds. I've often opined that the bulk of the squad should be on SHORT term but very lucrative contracts eg 12 or 18 months 'evergreen' with only the better players on long ones. Trouble is I don't know of a club that does this.
rovertheworld Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 where the hell qre hull getting their cash from, thry were after zamora, murphy etc, all of a sudden they splashed £15M on Negredo, bought hunt and ghilas. All of a sudden from relegation contendors they look like theyre gona stay up

I'd accept that...if we had at least one decent player in CM...which we don't..even when Grella and Dunn are fit. Salgado will break down the amount of defending he'll have to without any cover from CM...or any time to relax without someone there to hold onto the ball
rovertheworld Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 nicko, you said that today may be a more intreging day than yesterday was do you think big news will come out of the club today
thenodrog Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I like JW and dont blame him, its just the rest we the swag bags and deep pockets i dont trust. It's not JW's money, neither is it BRFC's money per sae. The money invested into BRFC belongs to the people that you don't trust. Tell me if you stick £10000 in a Building Society and after 12 months because your own income has dropped you choose to enquire how much is in the account. When you enquire your statement tells you that there is only £5005 left cos of some cock ups with toxic debt what do you do? Whatever it is I'll bet that you get whats left out asap and you certainly will not give em any more thats for sure.
Takemyhandsboss Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 The Times has us linked with Negrado from Real Madrid for 15million under- Decent bets. I hammer the lads at work when they read creative tranfer rumours from the red tops as made up and fictional but this is well in that league... ..isnt it? ..isnt it?
ffan Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 where the hell qre hull getting their cash from, thry were after zamora, murphy etc, all of a sudden they splashed £15M on Negredo, bought hunt and ghilas. All of a sudden from relegation contendors they look like theyre gona stay up They have absolutely no debt. Will be a good signing for Hull, but by God if he does not start scoring immediately and they start losing, Brown will be in a load of trouble.
joey_big_nose Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I don't get the gnashing of teeth. We clearly have too many players. I don't see how getting Salgado is contingent on selling Warnock. I am sure if we moved on two or three players like Grella, Reid and Zurab we would be able to bring in Rothen, Yebeda and Salgado. Problem is that it is hard to do that. We cannot keep on growing our squad for the sake of it. It is getting unmanageable.
alexanders Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Anything in the Doudejwin Zenden rumours? I can see that him being on a free transfer able to play both left-mid and attacking mid would be as good a option as rothen.

If they dont want to put money into the club sell it for a sum which would get people interested. You speculate to acculate, they invested abit of money and sam could work wonders which he has proved before. Continue with the trend we are and soon enough we will go down and never see top flight football again.
Trickstar Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Nicko if your about? A colleague of mine is a massive Plymouth Argyle fan and has heard some news that they are going to make a massive signing today any suggestions it could be Gally after he did so well on loan for them last season?
Guest ErinBrown Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 What the club should be aiming to do before the transfer window is closed. Get Zurab, Gally and Rigters off the books. Sign a CB (free Civelli?), Rothen and a CM on loan. Sort out the future of players who have expiring contracts. We should definately either sell Morten or give him a new contract. We don't want to leave it 6 months and leave ourselves in the position where if we choose to keep him other teams can come in and wave big bucks at him and leave us having to fork out over the odds money for him to sign a new deal. Also Dunn needs a new contract doesn't he?

There is talk they will sign Sturridge on loan from Chelsea today.
unleaded Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Plymouth cant afford Gallys wages thanks to Williams and then they expect other people to tidy there mess up..............How many clubs has this guy been on loan to yet they have all sent him back.......
