I hope he does get 90 mins in the cup. We paid a lot of money and we have to give him a chance soon. He was unimpressive against Stanley but it's not fair to judge him on 30 mins in a game like that.

I'm rooting for him and I really hope we have not wasted our money. I actually think that his confidence needs building up more than his shoulders.

He deserved to be ridiculed it was a shocking performance.

Perhaps it was. I didn't see it. But nobody coming to a new country, not speaking the language at his age, having to adapt to a whole new load of experiences and being thrown in at the deep end deserves the level of ridicule he appears to have been subjected to.

Absolute rubbish! Constructive criticism is okay, but to try to break him in half is uncalled for. There are many big name players, with big reputations who flopped in this league without a hint of ridicule aimed at them.

Not funny. To have his own fans turn on him in his first appearance is shocking, sometimes I'm ashamed of some of the people who call themselves Rovers Fans.

Don't think he deserves the criticism he's been getting today. There are players in that side who have been proven to be awful for years now. Namely Roberts, Pedersen, Andrews and Nelsen. They were all either always ###### or are living on past glories.

Kalinic has not been given a chance yet and Allardyce brought him on yesterday when he was on a hiding to nothing.

It's the senior players who have been letting us down for a long time who deserve the stick.

I didn't really pay too much attention to Kalinic when he came on yesterday. By that point I was finding the game comparable to watching your puppy being ripped to shreds by a police attack dog, not nice. There seems to be some desire amongst certain fans for him to fail because them they can attack Sam for something else. I've not really seen anything from him that suggests greatness and it is annoying that we have spent pretty much our entire budget on a player that is still not ready (and from a source I know personally, is not performing in training either.) We have to give him time. He may be the next Grabbi, he may be a Nathan Blake because we didn't get Dion Dublin style buy, time will tell.

Interesting to say the least that Kalinic "wouldn't benefit from playing in a derby game", but he would apparently benefit from playing - on his own - against John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho.

I really expect him to start against Peterborough now, preferably with McCarthy up front, and Hoilett / Emerton on each wing. N'Zonzi and Dunn can play central midfield.

I thought he looked quite good actually, he was the only positive to come out of yesterday's game for me. He held up the ball, made some intelligent runs and showed some nice touches. Not an easy team to play up front on your own against and not an easy situation to come on in, but he did pretty well.

Kalinic looks to my inexpert eye as coming along nicely. He may not be there yet, but I'm hopeful that come January he'll be banging them in and making a nuisance of himself in the goal box. Sam does have an excellent training and conditioning program.

Came on in difficult circumstances, but did OK. There were some thumping challenges on him.

Looks like he has a nice first touch - unsure how he would fair on his own, but not seen enough to make an accurate assessment.

Kalinic was on a hiding to nothing yesterday so no way to judge his ability. Same with Selgado. It was almost a case of "get a taste of the Premier son" No strategic sense at all. The simple fact is that like it or not Benni scores goals ,he has a huge incentive to do well with a new manager of South africa and he needs to be playing.Stop messing with aerial bombardment Sam and lets get two srikers receiving the ball on the ground.

Me too mate. I thought he looked pretty decent, hence why they had to crop him on the edge of the box.

At one stage he brought down a ball really well in the box and swivelled and was unlucky not to get a shot away.

Salgado also went on a great run and did little wrong.

Agreed.

Looked like he may have bulked up a bit, caused them problems at the back at least a couple of times with his strength. Also managed to hold off Essien (not exactly an easy feat at times) for a freekick.

I haven't seen him play a full game to really judge him yet. Hopefully he'll get some match time against Peterborough for us all to evaluate him further and of course for him to get some vital experience on the pitch.

6 million down the drain, you can say all you want but i promise you this man will not make it. Massive waste of money.

What total and utter rubbish you spout Bubble.

How can you, a genral member of the public make a statement about his ability and future career based on approx 60 minutes worth of display ?

I think the football people have slughtly far more nouse than you Sir in makign usch a big footballing decision when finances are so tight.

Six million doesn't get much nowadays by way of a striker and Sam appears to be hard at work on his diamond in the rough. From what little I've seen of Kalinic this season, he looks well on his way to being a valuable addition to the team.

In a way I'm glad that Di Santo has been such a quick fire hit as it has given Nikola time to try and find his feet.

I said it at the time and still feel that Kalinic offered us more in his first 5 minutes on the pitch than Roberts did all game.

I hope the lad makes it as he does look to have a great eye for a run and the knack of being in the right place at the right time, even for his woeful misses on his debut.

We'll just have to do as Majiball said (almost 3 months ago).

Lets see him play first.
