dillhallblue Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Saturday is the day to blood Kalinic, if he doesn't start against Portsmouth he never will !!!! Big Sam, play this boy and he will score goals, its as simple as that. He's had his learnng period, now's the time to unleash him.

Backroom Tom Posted November 2, 2009 Backroom Posted November 2, 2009 Agreed dillhallblue, benni and Kalinic on Saturday for me
thenodrog Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 There were two incidents. One was a tackle on barthez and he scored however a foul was given (for no real reason) CORRECT .... the second was also a tackle on Barthez but i think he missed as it was near the byline and was a difficult angle, there was no difference in the two tackles, but the ref thought otherwise SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PENALTY AND A SENDING OFF! BARTEZ ACTUALLY DRAGGED GRABBI BACK FOR A SPLIT SECOND AS THE BALL ROLLED ALONG THE GOAL LINE. BY THE TIME GRABBI SHRUGGED OFF BARTEZ AND GOT TO THE BALL IT WAS A YARD PAST THE FAR POST AND THE CHANCE OF A TAP IN WAS GONE. Every time we play those scummy btsards we get done by bad / bent / refereeing decisions.
Hughesy Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Each time we see Kalinic, he looks stronger and better. He should of had a goal at the weekend but for a dodgy referee, no fluffing of chances this time I see! For what its worth, I think once he gets a regular start he will start banging goals in...
mellison24 Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 The lad technically scored a legitimate goal against the current chamions of the 'best league in the world'.....what more proof do we need that he's ready?? Maybe this is the eye-opener for Sam? Take Andrews out the side and stick the extra striker up front? One can but dream!
alexanders Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Scored tonight against Slovenia in U21 qualification.
Backroom Tom Posted November 18, 2009 Backroom Posted November 18, 2009 Well done Nikola, thats an assist and a goal this week
Dinpomp Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 He actually had another (very nice) assist today as well: Kalinic goal and assist vs. Slovakia U21 Held the ball up really well and great vision to play the pass.
LeChuck Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Excellent assist and a well taken goal as well.
Backroom Tom Posted November 18, 2009 Backroom Posted November 18, 2009 Really good running for the assist, he'll be on a high now lets hope he gets 15 minutes on sunday but I can't see it after Roberts and Benni last week
unluckymorton Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Really good running for the assist, he'll be on a high now lets hope he gets 15 minutes on sunday but I can't see it after Roberts and Benni last week I'd throw him in from the start on Sunday. I'm all for giving him time but if he cant do it against the likes of Bolton there's not really much hope.
unluckymorton Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Excellent assist and a well taken goal as well. I think that warrants at least 45mins against Bolton. Lets give him a go while his heads up. He's also an unknown quantity that Megson surely will have done little homework on.

Thats a silly statement morton unless you have the experience of watching him closely week in week out at Brockhall. An U21 match means little and if you treat any club in the Prem as a patsy you will get turned over. I'm sure that losing to a relegation rival like Bolton would be a huge blow to us. Better to start him against the top four when we have little to lose. btw Just read your 2nd post and I guess if I give you another 2 hours you'll be having him down as sub.... which is where we started.

He's a £6m striker and he's got to be more of a threat than Roberts and hungrier (in the football sense) than Benni. I don't see it as treating Bolton as 'patsy'. We've got to give him a go one day so why not against Bolton after he's scored on and set up another midweek? If it doesn't work we can switch it round. We switched it round against Pompey and hammered them in the second half.

Benni and Roberts only have 1 of those attributes each.

'if he can't do it against the likes of bolton' is being dismisssive in my book.

AKA Rigters Now I dont believe Kalinic will be a failure but I agree that a U-21 game isnt where to judge a player. Id give Kalinic some game time if we could afford it, however for me he would be 3rd/ maybe 4th choice against a physical Bolton team. Oh and as for knowledge of Kalinic. Megson was at the reserve game where he won a penalty against them so I wouldnt be too sure!
waggy Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 On the basis of that video he is a real talent----------pace and skill. Benni and Roberts only have 1 of those attributes each. we should call him YOUTUBE seeing lardarse bought him after watching him star on it

'if he can't do it against the likes of bolton' is being dismisssive in my book. Maybe so in your book but but I don't take reference from your book at the time of posting. It's my opinion and I'm not too concerned whether you agree or not, I've far more important things to worry about. I'd like to see him play and do well against a side who I am confident of taking points off.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 2 assists and a goal in 2 international games, not bad. Don't think he will start against Bolton, but he should be pushing to feature at some point during the game. If he does feature i'd like to see him get at least 30 mins.
Majiball Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Does anyone know who played the pass for his goal? Sublime ball. Hopefully he gets on against Notlob in some capacity.
Dinpomp Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Does anyone know who played the pass for his goal? Sublime ball. Hopefully he gets on against Notlob in some capacity. Ivan Rakitic (Schalke).
Majiball Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Ivan Rakitic (Schalke). Thanks very much. I'll be taking in a Schalke game soon then!!!
