RoverRich Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 So glad that Niko scored tonight but had a feeling he would miss his penalty. Typical that after a good game and building confidence he would lose it with a pen miss but luckily it did not matter in the end. This is not me trying to slate him for missing a penalty and I hope no-one else does either. He played 120mins against the best team in the country so was understandably tired but I really hope we see him starting games from now on, if not this weekend then definitely the weekend after! He has shown that he has the finishing instinct we need and looks more promising than Di Santo in that aspect.
Backroom Tom Posted December 2, 2009 Backroom Posted December 2, 2009 Great performance form Kalinic tonight, hope his head isn't down after losing the ball for their third and the penalty miss he did far more right than wrong tonight.
Backroom DE. Posted December 2, 2009 Backroom Posted December 2, 2009 Was gutted for Niko when I saw he'd missed that pen. He was fantastic tonight, won practically every header in the second half. Played like a £6M man. Will be very interesting to see if he starts against Liverpool, and what formation we play. I'd say tonight's worked... why not try and go all out again against a shaky Liverpool team who we aren't expected to beat anyway?
herbergeehh Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 If anything, tonight shows that 3 up front is the way to go when our creative force is missing - with Dunn two strikers will do. Delighted for Kalinic
Blue n White Rover Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 If anything, tonight shows that 3 up front is the way to go when our creative force is missing - with Dunn two strikers will do. Delighted for Kalinic This lad was brilliant tonight, battled for everything in the air and won majority of it. His movement is what caught my eye. He must start against Liverpool! Delighted for him
broadsword Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Professional marathon runners go for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and are shattered for weeks after. Kalinic has been going for 120 minutes. He might need a rest, he's a professional not a robot. They're not the same, professional footballers don't run full-out for 120 mins continuously. Sure they'll be tired, but with just light training tomorrow and Friday they should be OK for Saturday.
ABBEY Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 dont know how they would go on doing the iron man .....oh i swam leave the bike and running for a week....im tired zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hughesy Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 This lad was brilliant tonight, battled for everything in the air and won majority of it. His movement is what caught my eye. He must start against Liverpool! Delighted for him Spot on...Delighted with him tonight, quality hold up play, took his goal with ease and showed great movement! Where's Waggles banging on about a £6m flop when you need him?!?!
Silencio Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Where's Waggles banging on about a £6m flop when you need him?!?! And Den? He has been at him since the off. Hasn't made it yet but it's clear he has a good pedigree and talent. He is young, talented and our player so let's give him some support. I have more faith in him than Roberts. Roberts was ###### when he signed and has got worse ever since....
Hughesy Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 At 21 year old, I think this boy can really go on to be a massive player for us. His hold-up and linking play is 1st class, his control is usually very good, and he has a never give up attitude which I love to see in our players. I think the 2nd was also his goal last night so thats 3 goals, + 1 wrongly disallowed at United in 10 appearances (mainly as sub)
Miker Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 BULL!!! Ive won championshipships, fought for england and other comps ..and won!!! we used to fight 4 or 5 times on the saturday and then 1/4 finals plus on sunday and you ached like crap ,we sucked air gritted teeth and fought on the sunday. unpaid as well no thousands of pounds a week to ease tiredness.id get home 3 0r 4am goto work 7ish and then gym 6ish...... ITS WED AND NO GAME TIL SAT,IF HES TIRED ITS A SAD STATE OF PRO ATHELETES FITNESS. BACK IN MY DAY WE DIDN'T HAVE ALL THESE FANCY SCHMANCY BALL SPORTS, INSTEAD WE HUNG BRICKS OFF OUR EARS AND CARRIED THEM FOR MILES. ONCE OUR EARS WOULD FALL OFF, WE WOULD JUST SEW THEM BACK ON AND KEEP GOING ANOTHER ROUND. It's not about tiredness, it's about injury. The amount of physical stress professional footballers put on their leg muscles is absolutely insane, it's completely different to fights or marathons. Plus, not everyone is SUPER ABBEY.

Exactly - see David Dunn - 2 games in 4 games, followed by an injury early on in the 3rd game in 7 days.
Majiball Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Exactly - see David Dunn - 2 games in 4 games, followed by an injury early on in the 3rd game in 7 days. Had a wee dram in your morning tea???? Watching the highlights again and I have to say thats a great move for the first. Has now scored two goals against the big four. He's blatantly ready so hopefully we see some more of him. I have to say I thought he worked hard yesterday and still saw him chasing CB's in extra time. I'm keen to see if he start's on Saturday now, or comes off the bench? Either way I expect to see him on the pitch at some stage on Saturday. Well Done Kalinic. PS someone needs to tell is it Claridge? that its kalinic and that klasnic plays for Notlob the monkey.
den Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 And Den? He has been at him since the off. Quotes to back that up bish?
waggy Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Spot on...Delighted with him tonight, quality hold up play, took his goal with ease and showed great movement! Where's Waggles banging on about a £6m flop when you need him?!?! i'm here my little one, brilliant for nicola to score against a top 4 team,he scored at utd which was wrongly disallowed,he has gone from grabbiesque to wardlike now, when he scores again in the premiership i will start eating my words .will lardarse play him up front hughsey, will we play 2 up front?
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I was glad to see him get that early goal,it should do wonders for his confidence. It was a bad do about the penalty though, another goal then and he would have been on cloud 9. Unfortunately it was a shocker, he never looked like converting it from the moment he approached the ball.It was like the sort of pass you make when you're returning it to your own goalie's hands.

That would be a pass back, wouldn't it?
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 That would be a pass back, wouldn't it? No. What if the ball's gone out of play for a goal kick or free kick and you're saving your goalie's back by not making him bend down when you return the ball. Have you ever played football, you know, on grass , not a computer screen ! ?
Amo Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Kalinic is somewhat of a penalty-expert. I can only imagine his legs were pooped playing 120minutes straight.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Kalinic is somewhat of a penalty-expert. I can only imagine his legs were pooped playing 120minutes straight. I imagine he would be knackered but even so I found his attempt was worryingly weak. Luckily their boy wonder wasn't much better. If we'd have gone out that miss, Robbo's flap and Salgado losing posession would have been done to death by now.
