sambo Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The number one vs Liverpool? Can't be right, doesn't even hold that much? And didn't we win 1-0 at their place, thanks to Nathan Blake? Or was it a replay?
JAL Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Remember the bank holiday game against Huddersfield in Division 1, 2001, when the club charged £5 for a ticket and many were locked outside. Cannot remember the Southampton game in 2002 was it when Duffer scored a superb solo goal which went along way to keeping us up.
cletus Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 To add some more meat on the stats, here`s a breakdown..... Liverpool........12 times in top 50 Man Utd..........10 Newcastle.........6 Man City...........3 Arsenal.............3 Tottenham........3 Bolton...............2 Sunderland........2 Leeds.................2 Fulham..............1 Celtic.................1 Everton..............1 Huddersfield.......1 Southampton......1 WBA...................1 Inbreds...............1 We`ve had 30,000+ attendances 20 times & 29,000+ gates 20 times
cletus Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 The number one vs Liverpool? Can't be right, doesn't even hold that much? And didn't we win 1-0 at their place, thanks to Nathan Blake? Or was it a replay? TBH, i thought the same Sambo. .....but "the essential history of Blackburn Rovers" book says.... FACup rnd 4 Jan 10th 2000 Rovers v Liverpool (home).....32,839 (Blake) It could be a misprint in the book......but all home games are in CAPITALS and this one is. Can anybody enlighten??
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I am sure season before last against Liverpool we actually went over capacity because everywhere was taken and Scousers were jumping the turnstiles/coming in together and had to stand on the steps?
Hughesy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Should be some big attendances there this season for all 4 of those who get the full Darwen End. Tomorrow 30k+ United - very rarely below 29k anyway Liverpool - as above Dingles - big interest
stuwilky Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 TBH, i thought the same Sambo. .....but "the essential history of Blackburn Rovers" book says.... It was at Anfield - if I recall correctly Nathan Blake scored.
cletus Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 That game was 100% at Anfield! Just checked.....you are correct. the book is wrong. I`ll do a sneeky edit on the top post
sambo Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 It was at Anfield - if I recall correctly Nathan Blake scored. Correct! Quite a famous win really, because we were really poor that year!
stuwilky Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Correct! Quite a famous win really, because we were really poor that year! Didnt Barnsley beat us by a rugby score a week later?

sambo Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 At the Burnley game, there were spare seats, but they were segregation, such as at the front of the Darwen End!
Presty On Tour Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The game at the top against Liverpool was when we lost 3-2 to Liverpool I think. Flowers had a divot moment from a Collymore effort! Collymore scored another and I think Michael Thomas had their 3rd. Wilcox and Sherwood scored for us.

modes98 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Remember the bank holiday game against Huddersfield in Division 1, 2001, when the club charged £5 for a ticket and many were locked outside. I was there that day. I remember ringing up as we were going up the motorway as there were only a few tickets left. Ended up in the riverside with a great view of the sending off.
Ben-2000 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I wonder how many were really there at the Rovers v City game in their promotion season, there were hundreds sneaking there way in to the riverside over the turnstile cabins
