I went to the game today and spoke to Sam and John Williams after the game and asked them about any more signings and John Williams said maybe 1 more before the end of the window.

I asked him if there is any Truth in the Guti Rumours and he lauged and said I dont think so although In my opnions did come across a bit flustred when I asked it

John Williams is a class act by the way.

Asked Sam about it and he said no I think that is it and seemed really downbeat.

He's not Premier League quality - I don't know why he thinks he deserves a longer leash than the one he's had. I'd like to get some money for him though rather than let him go on a free next summer. The academy isn't producing first teamers, at least it should pay for itself through the sale of players not quite making the grade.

Have you seen Hoilett?! Seen him twice now. Looks the best prospect since Duff. He is going to make it.

Hope not, apart from that purple patch at Pompey his record has been dire in England also there are some concerns about his knees.

I'd play a fat Benni over him any day.

Rumours are Benni is off. Benni out Bejani in has an awful plausibility.

But in a way it doesn't matter as whoever we get we need Kalinic and Di Santo to start scoring very very regularly.

holliet reminds me alot off a young defoe in the way he plays, i really have a good feeling about him this season, also i have good freind whos a ajax fan and i think i deal to bring benni to ajax is very close, he's not injured as bad as people say he is, just hope benjani isnt his replacement, i want holliet and kalanic to be given a good run out togther, in the short time i saw them play togther yesterday i think they complement each other well and could strike up a reall good partnership togther .and as for this mind blowing signing thats being mentioned, i think it will be a last mintue transfer deadline signing if it comes off, big sam will be going out on tuesday to try and get it tide up.

But if Benni goes what happens to his pie shop??

He maybe fat, he maybe lazy but selling the only player we have who has scored 10+ in this league before, doesn't fill me with joy.

Replacing one Africian striker who has had one good season in the premiership with another who has had one good season and a serious injury does not make sense. I can't see it freeing much wages and there would not be much difference in transfer fees.

Janko's agent is quoted on Sky saying as his player is staying at his club, but with Kallinic and Di Santos at the club do we need another unproven striker at the club?

McCarthy clearly wants out so how much can we expect to get for him fee wise ?

It is late in the transfer window, 2 days or so to go and who could we replace him with ?

A forward line up of Kalinic, di Santo and Roberts does not fill me with confidence that we can score the goals to keep us in this league. It is even more so if we are thinking of buying the walking injury that is Benjani.

We are so desperate for the central midfielder it is becoming tedious mentioning it.

I am not sure why BRFC cannot identify that issue, it is embarrassing.

Selling Kishinishvilli will release money, ridding the club of Rigters and Treacy again frees up money. Selling Andrews to Fulham releases money and guarantees a fee coming into the club.

Sam, come on, manage the club and talk some sense into the cash men.

Benni out and janko in wouldn't be too bad, benjani would be a huge gamble.

janko is at Fulham, no?

What a crazy signing Benjani would be, if Sam makes that one I will seriously start questioning his judgement.

We desperately need a midfielder who can pass the ball and create chances as a back-up to super amazing never put a foot wrong St Keith.

Nicko,

As a person who likes the occasional flutter, what are the odds of any more transfer activity at Ewood? Is there any point reading this thread any more for this Transfer Window?

Yes, a lot of things could happen...but I think players would have to go first...in fact, I know players would have to go first.

If you get Zurab or Benni away then there could be an arrival.

Watch this space.

Can you see a front two of Roberts and Bejani together, both have a serious habit of missing goals.

I think Nicko's just on the wind up this time, at least I hope he is.

Benjani story is nothing to do with me...I can't see that one at all.

Remember, the ideal pairing this season - the players Sam signed - is Kalinic with Di Santo.

Sadly that double act has not had the chance to perform together yet. There is no point in panicking or over-reacting until your best team is on the park.

That has not happened so far.

Benni can go at the right price and Roberts is always going to be 'next man in' at any proper club.

Your best team? In my view...

Robinson - Chimbonda, Samba, Nelsen, Givet - Salgado - Dunn, N'Zonzi, Pedersen - Kalinic, Di Santo.

Get that lot on the park and you will be ok...more than ok.

Emana in, yes please.

Players to get rid, if we have to:

McCarthy - 2.5m

Andrews - 2m

Zurab - 1.5m

Treacy - 750k

Rigters - will pay to have people take him off our hands. 500k? Deadly serious. He's on what, 15-20k apparently for 2 more years? That's potentially 1.5m-2m of wages anyway.

(please can we ditch the last two regardless as they often nothing to the squad?)

If Benni goes I guess I'm ok with Benjani or even Ellington as 4th striker, but Emana is vital.

Also if Zurab goes I'd hope we got the young Brazilian or at the very least recalled Gunning from loan.

Nicko put Emerton in your best lineup and push Dunn in to replace N'Zonzi in the centre and I completely agree.

Nicko is this a case of boosting the transfer fund or clearing a wage in order to replace it with another? Or both?

Fair do's on Benjani, I cannot think of a player I want at the club less he's awful why sven signed I'll never know.

Curiously how are you playing those 11??

Both...hopefully something will happen because I think you are a midfielder short...and ideally a cover left back.

I would play 4-1-3-2...with Salgado conducting the traffic in front of midfield. It would let the other three midfielders sit or attack and I would also try the kids up front as a pairing.

Hoilett would be an option too. But best as a sub just now. A bit like the kid Guerrero at Burnley.

Nicko, has there been any talk behind the scenes on giving Hoilett a new contract?

iirc it was unleaded who said he didn't have long to left on his current contract and that some German clubs were interested? He looks like he has real potential and it would be seriously bad business imo for him to leave now.

Worried with our wages being stretched that we might not be able to offer him a new deal.
