Hughesy Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Why the hell did we not accept the 3 million for Andrews earlier in the summer if we are trying to get rid of him now? Didn't they offer just 2m?

andyroversmad Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Would Paul ince be interested in taking Andrews off us ?
John Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 So were you out drinking with Wenger or Rednkapp? It can't have been Hodgson because he was at Villa Park live on tv whilst you were hobnobbing with the "person in question" ... Tris - I spoke (twice) directly to a Premiership manager this evening on the phone. Sam called him last week and asked if he wanted Andrews. Reply was no. Sam stated he likes Andrews but needs to bring cash in. Any further questions, please ask me directly because this 100% true. If you have got a problem with it, then fair enough, but this is correct (will not reveal the manager as they asked not to be named) Let me know if you want any more proof because this is absolute FACT.
doctorryan Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 According to le Parisien; Nice, Tottenham and Rangers have joined Schalke and Rovers in the race for Rothen if my French is doing me any good. A loan deal could be in the works. If he ends up at Spurs after we had 2 months to get this done that will really infuriate me.....or maybe there's a "5 club rule".

I wonder if Sam didn't want to be named either...
neekoy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Could be. The way we're going we'll be European Champions 2012/13 season. "It's mainly the owners that asked us to do something - Roman Abramovich, (AC Milan's) Silvio Berlusconi, (Inter Milan's) Massimo Moratti. They do not want to fork out from their pockets any more," added Platini." Probably three of the biggest spenders of the last decade. Would mean a little club like Blackburn Rovers would be worse off under this ruling and give the big clubs a chance to take control again after being shunted by the arabs. Disgusting if Platini allows this, I really like his proposals on a fairer playing field but this does nothing. Would love to have signed Rothen previously, now even more so.
Iceman Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 The Rothen news is very strange. Spurs interested? I can only think because of the injury to Modric, but then they linked to Krancjar as well whic makes more sense. Im still not sure about Rothen, but a loan deal would perhaps be okay with an option to buy if he does well. For me personally, as much as i like Andrews for his hard work, if we sell him for Emana then il be delighted. I know we have to keep the bank manager happy, but i thought we already did that before the Warnock sale. Now is not the time for the board to be messing about. 1 more signing for midfield, wont damage us that much surely.

Prior to posting the above, you stated "...100 per cent true with the person in question now, no source names for obvious reasons...". That was posted yesterday afternoon. Now you are claiming that you only spoke to him by phone - and it was actually in the evening? If you must make such assertions, it might add to their credibility if you were at least consistent about it.

I never know why anyone bothers to post this sort of thing. No-one believes it and if you're not going to be more specific its not surprising. You're quite prepared to protect another Manager but not your own team's Manager. Why is that?? Anyone can make up the sort of story you just posted. It just spoils the board in my opinion.
Big Fat Sam Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Blackburn have turned down a bid from Olympiakos for Norwegian winger Morten Gamst Pedersen. Full story: The Sun
1864roverite Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I wonder how much "the bid" was ? Interesting that it never hit the newswires last week.
nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Rothen thinks the Rovers move is off...he has fallen out with PSG...and he would now go anywhere...so there will be a lot of clubs getting calls about him right now...I think the deal is a loan with a bit of a 'rental fee' on top...decent player...maybe not eactly what you need at the moment...but a lot can happen in the last day or so.

Nicko, In your sniffing around have you come across a potential gala signing by Rovers?? Some have suggestted that we maybe trying to bring in a better player provided we can shift one or two.
67splitscreen Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 (nicko) More so if you have available funds. ??? A little over 30 hrs left, I really hope we can pull something out of the bag.

hi-jaq Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 After Saturday's performance... Although we didn't lose, we looked seriously short of attacking ideas. I have my fingers, toes... in fact, everything that I can cross, is crossed in the hope that we bring a midfielder in. Even if it means letting one or two, maybe three players go. If we can shift, Benni, Zurab & Andrews, that must bring in a few million for Sam to have a crack at... My main fear is that we have left it too late.
nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 nicko, any idea about the Andrews story? I think it is wishful thinking. The big chance was to sell him to Fulham. They have now signed Greening instead. So I don't see a vacancy. Peculiar.

nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 They took Greening for Andrews? Well I never! No, the whole 'Andrews might move story' is peculiar. Picking Greening ahead of Andrews is not peculiar.
imy9 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Nicko is there any genuine interest in zurab and benni or is just idle talk
nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Nicko is there any genuine interest in zurab and benni or is just idle talk Like in so many potential deals just now - everywhere - there are clubs and agents claiming that buyers are interested. We shall find out in the hours ahead. I think Benni could be gone and if that happens then a lot will kick off in a hurry. By the way, Benjani - linked with Rovers yesterday - DID have a medical at Hull. Interesting to see if he passed it.
alexanders Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 i say we should sell mgp. we have enough options on the wing in: hoilett, diouf, van heerden, emerton he has 1 yr left of his current contract and is possible looking for a raise. with our wage budget already on high pressure, this is exactly a sale we should be doing. also by selling him to greece and olympiakos we dont have to worry that he will rediscover his form and strengthen one of our league rivals.
Oklahoma Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Nicko, is anyone interested in Roberts? Can they please buy him?
