nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Yep, that is expensive and I can't believe teh board would sanction paying 45k a week for someone who's on his way out. And his well-documented antipathy for this club wouldn't help much either. All I could add to that is that Nolan loves Big Sam and the feeling is mutual. If he was anti-Rovers in the past it would be because he was so pro-Bolton. You want players with that kind of attitude on your side. Whether he is the player he was a year or so ago is another question. But the manager is the type who thinks he can get the best out of players.

sambo Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Nolan doesn't even like us... Don't think I want someone who has a strong dislike for the club
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Not keen on forking out that sort of money for Nolan. The blighter has said often enough he hates Rovers... Actually he said he disliked our kit most out of all Premier League clubs. While he was at Bolton. Our rivals. Wouldn't be playing up for his own fans, would he?
altheblue Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 EVERTON...Heitinga wants too much dough, so that may collapse...one of their agents has lined up a replacement...but that might happen AFTER the window shuts...and that's a big clue. Blackburn's old friend, Lucas Neill?
niggit Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 If we could get him, then i would be happy Zurab wont play anyway, so Nolan who could do something or Zurab who wont
sambo Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Actually he said he disliked our kit most out of all Premier League clubs. While he was at Bolton. Our rivals. Wouldn't be playing up for his own fans, would he? Probably true.. Still, not sure he is worth the gamble at £45,000 p/w
nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Blackburn's old friend, Lucas Neill? No, funnily enough, but if you tell Moyesie...you never know.
den Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I'm bloody hoping that Zurab/Benni/Andrews/Grella stay because Nolan is a load of crap! Would rather we signed Mokoena back and played him as an attacking midfielder! That's not like you Clare.
roversmum Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 If Sam thinks he will do the job then ok, but it is a lot of money.
bob fleming Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Actually he said he disliked our kit most out of all Premier League clubs. While he was at Bolton. Our rivals. He'll like the away kit then. (p.s. 223 on line? Get to bed! 179 of us have work tomorrow)
cruz Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Why did we knock Fulham back for Andrews then if we are prepared to let him go?
nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Why did we knock Fulham back for Andrews then if we are prepared to let him go? The bid was too low at the time...the chance was lost...I think the manager would sacrifice him now to get the money in...no idea who would pay it, mind you,
niggit Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Cheers for the info nicko, bet your in for a busy day tomorrow.
Ricky Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I don't mind Nolan at all, think he'd be a decent signing for us. A loan deal would be an ideal solution if we could free up some space on the wage bill. Shifting zurab out and Nolan in would be good business in my opinion.
beerwins Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Nolan is the solution to our midfield problems All the time sam spent scouring the french leagues and we find nolan! Im so gutted about this that barton sounds good, my god its hard to see how rovers got to this stage, 45,000 a week for this turd NOT A FRIGGING CHANCE. I would rather have no-one than waste so much a week on nolan. Im sick of reading about the absolute dead end players we get linked with, i rated sam at bolton but i feel totally let down by some of his transfers and i think this is the icing on the cake.
nicko Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Cheers for the info nicko, bet your in for a busy day tomorrow. Anti-climax tomorrow...all the stories will come out and you can't scoop anybody. The day before [today] is always better usually. Today has been busy but without the 'edge' of the clock ticking to midnight and Stroke Boy* on the verge of head explosion. Never ever going to better that window. [*In joke that some will get].
Mr. E Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Lesser quality? really? Derbyshire and Roque - Kalinic, Hoillet, Van Heerden and Di Santo Di Santo is a step up from Derbyshire and Hoillet is looking like one of our best young prospects we've had for years. Kalinic vs Roque is harder to call, but considering Roque hardly played last season, id say Kalinic should be more useful Hold on now. Derbyshire scored a number of very important substitute goals for Rovers. Di Santo is on loan, is injured for many weeks and has barely played 30 minutes for Rovers. It's going to take a hell of a lot before you can deem him better than Derbs. When Kalinic and Di Santo start banging in the goals, that's when you can start talking about their qualities.
Hi Mack Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Nolan would be a decent loan signing! He is a step up from Andrews. He also has a nasty streak to him.....our midfield is to soft at the moment we need a bit of grit in there! I still dont think Nolan is that "spark" we need but at this stage beggers cant be choosers!
BuckyRover Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think it would be better than the status quo which looks like the alternative. Roll on 5pm. If there is one person who can get the best out of Nolan, it is Sam. That can't be disputed.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I'd sacrifice Zurab for Nolan but not at the expense of Benni.
rovers1995 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Not to bothered about that news if I'm honest. As long as Benni and Grella/Andrews don't go. Zurab doesn't play for us much so if we sell him and spend the money on someone that will get used then I'm all for it. Big Sam can get the best out of him. One last thing. Nicko, thanks for everything this summer and keep us updated tomorrow. See you in January
Backroom Tom Posted August 31, 2009 Backroom Posted August 31, 2009 Agreed with ADB, would rather have Benni in the squad than Nolan, I don't see what nolan can offer that Dunny doesn't. Waggy will be having a field day

The only thing that HAS changed is his list of "contacts" he thinks he knows everyone! Stroke boy = different class!
niggit Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Take it stroke boy is him on sky sports news, with unlimited amount of phones and contacts, getting his mum to ring him.
