Warnock going is the only justification I can think of for us signing Selgado, If we move Givet to left back we'll need an attacking fullback on the other wing as Givet needs a Sat-Nav to cross the half way line. Attacking full back and Jacobson don't really belong in the same sentence. So there.s your answer.

The defender is with a decent-ish team in a decent league.

The guy who told me was hoping to take him to another club but found out Rovers are bringing him in instead...I think this info is pretty sound.

Although if Hughesy could get a pic I would be happier.

So your mate Coyley was interested in other words?

I think people are judging Jacobson too early, from what I have seen of him previously he is looking a better option that ojier at right back as he would always get caught out for pace

Jacobsen is very much ok and wasn´t the reason to hire Salgado. We should invest every penny there is and buy Martin Petrov. He would make a difference. Probably it´d take few sales too.

I used to like Petrov but he's been out a long while after a serious injury. We can't risk all our dosh ( if we have any dosh that is ) on a guy who may be a crock. Spurs are supposed to be interested, let them take the chance. Another thing, who's going to give him the ball from midfield _ Andrews ?

It's the "half" bit that has thrown me. I usually know this but I'm still confused. Must be this sunlight.

IIRC, the centre half was the central of the three "midfielders" (halfbacks) in the old 2-3-5 from where both the "standard" jersey numbers come from as well as a lot of terminology. Eventually teams started playing him in a withdrawn role to mark the opposition centre forward better, while pulling back one of the forwards, essentially playing a 3-3-4. #2 and #3 were the two "full backs" and moved further outside (to mark the wingers rather than the two inside forwards) when the centre half was withdrawn.

That brings back memories.

2. right back - 3. left back

4.right half - 5.centre half - 6.left half

7. right wing - 8.inside right - 9. centre forward - 10 inside left - 11 left winger.

Indeed- the two "w"s. Remember playing number 4 in that formation for my primary school in 1965 and losing 14-0 with Bryan Douglas watching on.

I am available for trial at Brockhall if anyone wants to turn the guessing game surreal.

nicko is Van Der Meyde still training with us after he was photographed about a week ago training with the squad.

Still seems a bit strange that one, was it you that said he's training with us to help find another club. It's not like we owe him anything unless perhaps that was the agreement when he first came on trial that he would be allowed to stay and get fit if we didn't want to keep him. Surprised he didn't feature in one of the pre season friendly's though if we were even slightly interested.
