This, as well as Warnock, simply shows that Sam is a realist. We can't afford to reject all bids, everyone has a price and IF someone happens to make a very large bid for Samba, it seems we would rather have a replacement lined up than turn it down and never get that kind of money again.

There's no mention of a serious bid for Samba. There's not even been a serious bid for Warnock yet, either.

If/when Lescott goes I think Everton will bid for Samba...I'm pretty sure Nicko saw the dominos teetering much earlier in the transfer window. No bid yet, but I'm sure City will sweeten their deal enough for Everton to part with a player that City have already turned.

I doubt Everton would have the financial clout to land a ko bid this late in the window.

Samba is a core part of the squad, one of the first names on the teamsheet. Who cares if Everton and Spurs are sniffing, tell them to sod off.

It's about time this club grew some balls and stood up for itself with regards to keeping its players.

There is no way this trialist is going to be as good as Samba, who at 24 could get so much better.

and with so little time to go in the transfer window...

time to take the the hard line.

NOT FOR SALE

Hart is a good shout, but im moving towards Moyes or Benitez.

Come on guys it's obvious - Phil Brown? Nicko - just how bad was it last week at Rovers, did Sam threaten to go?

Warnock going is the only justification I can think of for us signing Selgado, If we move Givet to left back we'll need an attacking fullback on the other wing as Givet needs a Sat-Nav to cross the half way line. Attacking full back and Jacobson don't really belong in the same sentence. So there.s your answer.

Givet is the best C/H at the club IMO and should play there - probably to replace Nelson but he'll take some shifting will t'admiral on last years second half form.

I wonder if Samba will end up in midfield like he did in Berlin?

Would a player plus cash offer for warnock possibly involving Reo Coker not be interesting. We need a midfielder with some get up and go. Does he not suit the bill.

No - no creativity - which is what we need.

6ft 3, tall and quick - Samba Mk2

Enjoy it nicko................is my cheque in the post for that pic you used?! :P

We could probably win the European Basketball Cup!

hi all,

from nicko's article please tell me this is not true

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Black...icle123149.html

please tell me we are not going to sell our prize defender he has been amazing up front & in defence Sam if the toffees or spurs come sniffing please just tell them both to do one. Always happy to play wherever never complains and unless he chucks his toys out of the pram we should not even entertain the idea of selling him. to my knowledge he has not even put in a transfer request! so should be a non-starter.

Horrifying if true, Everton is not likely - they are really on a par with us wage wise. Spurs will spend and pay wages and look sharp. For my money Samba looked better up front that Crouch (was he £13m?) and better in defence than Lescott (£20m? madness).

Still think City will turn up but for my money you'd need £33m just to talk to him. He's that important to us.

It would be good if we valued him on how important he is to us, but we cant... If a big bid comes in will the bank not pressure us to accept it??? It would be a massive loss, but you can see that Sam was looking at the bigger picture when he signed Givet... centre half if Samba goes... left back if Warnock goes, clever business by the big man, I think if it happens, with the money left we could end up a stronger team, and that is what Sam will be looking at, as much as it pains me to admit it!!!

If Everton sell Lescott they'll surely want the money to spend on more than one new recruit. Since our price for Samba would be high enough to swallow the majority of whatever they got for him, I can't see it coming off. Michael Turner is only £12m in comparison, he'd be a better bet for Everton.

As for Spurs... they're a little short at the back while Woodgate and Dawson are both injured but that's a lot of competition when you add King, Bassong and Corluka to their centre back pool. Can't see that one either.

£25m+ for Everton to even consider it, £35m+ for Spuds. A bid for £10-20m should be ignored unless it has a massive sell on clause.

Unbelivable.

Anything with eight figures will be accepted BY ALLARDYCE HIMSELF. The only thing I don't understand is why the replacement would have to be free, unless he has finally noticed every central midfielder we have, is complete sh*te.

I don't give a ###### mods!! Just allow me this one pleasure, please! I'M IN AT UCLAN TO STUDY PSYCHOLOGY!!! THANK GOD!!

......wait.....

THANK MICHEL SALGADO!!!

That's given you pleasure?

Go and get drunk or something.

Why is that unbelieveable? We should screw them for every penny. Everton will be desperat to make up for losing Lescott, and Spurs are a bunch of nobs who pay over the odds anyway. Why should we roll over and take it like a £10 prostitute to suit another club?

Because, take off your Blue and White specs, and you'll accept that £10m is over his true value.

Does Moyes strike you as a complete cretin? Why on earth would he pay more than the entire fee he recieve for a better player on Samba?

To suit another club? Recieving over the odds for a player who cost us about twenty quid, allowing us to further strengthen our team is totally to the advantage of our club.

City are talking about bidding £20m for Lescott...

City already bid that weeks ago and it was rejected. Everton are trying to squeeze £30m from them.

As for Samba. Its Simples........NOT FOR SALE

Oh and Shilito - seriously £10m and id laugh at them, he is worth miles more than that.

From what I can translate from his German wiki site, the main reason for Gohouri being a free transfer is some sort of disco scandal, where he went drinking the night before a game. He started his career as a striker, is known for his physique and aerial prowess, and has been capped several times for Cote D'Ivoire. There's definitely a few similarities to Samba!

Samba can dominate average Premiership forwards. The top ones he's not convincing against, the truely world class ones will dick him.

Tell me he's worth miles more than ten million and believe me, they'll be plenty more laughing at you, whether or not they lurk on here is another matter.

If my club was spending over ten million on Samba, unless we were loaded, I'd be furious.

Thank God I don't have you selling stuff for me. If you quote a massive price to start with, you either drag up their offers, or you keep a very good player. Just letting him go for £10m is stupid, especially since we will only have half of that to spend knowing our board. Selling Samba would also strengthen their teams, possibly at our expense.

Take them off but don't put the claret and blue ones on like shillito has, they've turned him crazy.. :P

On the Gohouri thing...I would stress my info is that he is being looked at in case somebody comes in for big Chris...not saying that is going to happen, but you have to do your homework.

It strikes me they are quite similar although Gohouri may have the edge on pace.

He is NOT a free agent, as far as I know, and still has a year on his contract.

How many WORLD class strikers are there - Torres?

I believe that Samba is awesome and if you put him with another quality Centre back week in, week out then you would soon change your opinion. The problem he currently has is that he is usually trying to cover for Nelsen's mistakes.

If we sold Samba for £10m then I would be fuming, If my club bought a Samba for £10m at his age & experience then id be delighted.

Say what you want sam but developing players and selling em on for big profit is now our raison d'etre. The more the merrier too....... just as long as we have replacements lined up of equal ability, and that is the big issue. Our scouts are now our most important players.

Good point Hughesy. Would add Drogba to that list, and maybe Rooney too. That would be about it.
