joey_big_nose Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Santana.. wth yet another left winger.. even if there is nothing in it, there must be something with us having looked at 6-7 different left sided midfield/wingers.. Yup, there have been so many now - and a confirmed long term interest in Rothen - that there must be something going on. I guess trying to place pressure on Pedersen to sign a new contract, sell Pedersen, or looking to move Pedersen inside. Or it could just be that we don't feel we have enough cover there if Gamst gets injured... but I thought between Diouf, Olsson and Van Heerden we would be okay.

brfcjon Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Samba is probably my fave Rovers player at the moment. I love the prospect of Samba putting in a crunshing tackle every time he is near the ball. I want more of that so unless the stomp up some crazy amount I say keep hold of the guy. Football is all about affection and fascination, and Samba could very well be the tallisman for Rovers the coming 10 years. Letting Samba go would really p*s me off.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 On BBC Gossip & Transfers: "1440 BST: Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is stepping up his bid to bolster his side's defence with Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin, James Collins of West Ham and Blackburn's Stephen Warnock top of his shortlist. (Press Association)"
mellison24 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 There's NO way to have 3 people top of the shortlist. they will be in a certain order, hopefully in THAT order.
modes98 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 How come his agent is 'peed off' with Rovers? Probably eager for a payday, after his low fee move to Rovers. Best thing for us and him is to stay until he has progressed into more of the finished article.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 When we go to play the Dingles at Turf Moor this season we'll need a certain type of player, the ones with a backbone and a will to win. Samba epitomises that for me, if we sell big Chris we're selling our Talisman, our Collosus. It'd be like giving the Dingles a goal start. I know he's not the finished article now but one day he will be.
Hughesy Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Correct - when we play the Dingles, we need the likes of Samba, Warnock & Dunn all chomping at the bit......Dont sell Samba no matter what.
Iceman Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Correct - when we play the Dingles, we need the likes of Samba, Warnock & Dunn all chomping at the bit......Dont sell Samba no matter what. Dont forget about Michel "the bull" Salgado Chris
Trickstar Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Sorry if this is in the wrong place but couldn't find a thread about Lawro and his ramblings his latest predictions for the weekend include this little snippet in the Sunderland V Blackburn "Blackburn lost their first game, of course" who does this idiot think he is he really gets my back up with his constant slating of our team
broadsword Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I don't thinbk he means it was a foregone certainty, he's just remembering the result. I think there's a danger of some of our fans developing a persecution complex.
Amo Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I think there's a danger of some of our fans developing a persecution complex. Too late. Still don't get the vendetta against Lawro. He's often said what a well-managed club we are.
T4E Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I don't thinbk he means it was a foregone certainty, he's just remembering the result. I think there's a danger of some of our fans developing a persecution complex. We've had it for years Bry, embarrassing at best.
1864roverite Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 £10m-£15m sounds like a realistic valuation for Samba, but this window isn't about realistic values, it's about squeezing as much cash out of people as they've got. Everton get £22m for Lescott then the price is at least £18m. Should be enough to scare them off. If Lescott is worth £25m then Big Chris is worth £20m MINIMUM.
thenodrog Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Gohouri A bit of research has found that he is a bit of a party boy, not for the first time his club have had to impose bans. Allegedly his current ban has been imposed as a result of him stating he never wants to play for the club again and his latest partying activities. Hardly the type usually associated with BRFC. Still at least it's not criminal misdemeanors. Give him digs im Margot's bulding at the top of church street. The tumbleweed rolling around Blackburn town centre and the closed pubs, restaurants and clubs will cure his nocturnal wanderings in quick time.
Stuart Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I can't understand it when clubs do that. What are they expecting to get out of it? If they kept playing him and nobody comes in for him then he may re-sign and you get an extra season out of him. Freeze a player out and there is a 0% chance they will re-sign. Keep our CBs and sign this guy on a free next summer. Also, what does it say to the other players at the club, and those who might be tempted to join in the future?
Stuart Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Gally on his way to Foxes? If that's true, I hope it's not just to free up wages for Salgado and we actually have an central midfielder lined up!! Plus: Blackman joins Oldham on one month emergency loan
rovertheworld Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 I've been told that striker Paul Gallahger is on his way to Scotland to join Motherwell, not sure what the fee is but a deal is close to being agreed. Remeber you heard it here first
Fife Rover Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I don't understand why anyone wouldn't think big Chirs is worth 12m+ He has been very good for us for eighteen months now. Whilst there are still quite a few rough edges to be smoothed and shaped about Samba's game, I would argue that at the very least he is already as good or better (more effective) as a CB than Lescott. And given that he is younger and still got his best to come he simply must be a more valuable commodity in the CB market than Lescott. Therefore it is NOT in Rovers interest either football wise or financially to sell Samba at this time. We need him now as he is, and the time will come when he is worth considerably more than he would fetch today. So selling now is just stupid.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Gally on his way to Foxes? Just been reading that forum and a Plymouth fan on there reckons its a done deal (claims to have spoken to Gally's father in law). Could be bs but interesting if true. If Gally is offloaded does that we might bring in a cheap midfielder? or are we having to sell to cover Salgado's wages?
Fife Rover Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 So Gohouri could be a replacement for Big Chris if he were to go? Where would the rest of the money that we got for Samba go in the event that we sold him? I'm guessing Gohouri would only cost £1-£2 million with a year left on his contract. Another "little" problem with signing Gohouri as a replacement for Samba that nobody has mentioned is the African Nations Cup, when he would go missing for several weeks and maybe come back injured as well. Another good reason for keeping Samba.
Fife Rover Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 According to www.transfermarkt.co.uk Steve Gohouri is banned from Bundesliga football until "End of June 10" he has been banned for "34 Matches" - Not sure what he has done to get that ban. But if true, surely that could mean he is just keeping his fitness up at Brockhall to maybe earn himself a move away from Germany and possibly away from his ban. If he is indeed banned till the end of his contract, then maybe his club want him off their books? Also Steve Gohouri has been completely ommited from the Borussia Monchengladbach team photo and his profile has been deleted from the club website. Sounds like one to steer clear of if that is actually true. No club is going to take such drastic action as that against their own player unless he has done something pretty awful to deserve it.
Dan Furness Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I've been told that striker Paul Gallahger is on his way to Scotland to join Motherwell, not sure what the fee is but a deal is close to being agreed. Remeber you heard it here first Goes well with the BBC story about Motherwell
