Confirmed, Gally is gone, 3 yr deal to Leicester.

Nicko any idea what the fee is and did we include a sell on fee?

More importantly is that money in the "We Desperatly need a Midfeilder" fund???? Or does it offset Salgado???

All the best Gally, hope you do well and we get a nice percentage in a couple of years.

If our salary budget was maxed out, £1M + £20k/wk would give us £30k/wk for Salgado for 2 years. (Numbers are for illustration purposes only).

Extras need to be paid too ;)

I live in the hope that the board have said OK you can have him on top, dropping 5 million off the wage bill in one summer is asking a lot when he also has the brief to stabilise us this year. Sam spoke about that signing that they would have to dig deep for IE on top, surely thats Salgado. What I don't understand is that If gallys gone, then we will be about 1Million plus his wages better off, so about 40K a week. Surely thats Salgado paid for, so why all the fuss about can we could we afford him and the such??

So I'm hoping we are now looking for a midfielder on loan, because we need one desperatly. Or a left winger with pace, Petrov on loan would bring a smile to my face and Gamst in the middle.

Good job your not the gaffer then, Hughes, Ince and Big Sam all thought that he was not good enough at this level, I respect their opinion before yours. Oh and I dont see where Big Sam has wasted our money, care to elaborate?

Waggy may have a point about wastage. If this is our spending done then we are stronger than we were but still there are major weaknesses that haven't been addressed.

Just seems to me that with such limited funds you should prioritise on certain areas first, our weakest area is the central midfield and apart from N'zonzi we haven't really strengthened in that department. We don't know if Salgado can do a job there, he has played right back on most occasions for a reason. If Reidy, Dunny and Grella keep getting injuries and Andrews continues to play rubbish then i can see us struggle to achieve a top half finish.

Disappointed that in my opinion the weaknesses that have been there for the past 2-3 seasons haven’t been fixed.

I agree that central midfield is a problem but when you have FOUR players coming back from injury in that position, we cannot afford to purchase yet another central midfield player. Two of those players (Dunn and Reid) have one year remaining and are on big wages, so I think this will be addressed next year, remember Rome was not build in a day!

I was thinking the same. Gally was a striker that had been asked to play here there and everywhere because we had a need. He showed little ability to do any of those roles to premier league standard. If he did have then I am sure a premier league team would have signed him, Hull for one are desperate for a striker.

He was the best passer of the ball at the club left bar, maybe, Dunn. Sad but true. That's why he went into midfield recently. Shame he didn't have the physicality to back it up.

For me, this is our problem in a nut-shell. We can't afford to bring in any more bodies for the midfield because we already have too many players on biggish contracts already.

There is no wastage. When a world class player becomes availible for free you grab him with both hands and fit him into your team where you think he will do most good. If you have to drop a player to do that you just do it.

No doubt he was but is he now?

What was the point of bringing in Jacobsen? We have plenty of depth already at right back... For those saying well he can play midfield, his main position was as a full back for a reason.

Sorry I just cannot get that enthusiastic about this signing when I think that the money would have been better spent (Wages) on bringing in a central midfielder rather than another right back. It just doesn't make sense to me.

If we use him as a right back it makes no sense to me either. Therefore I don't think we are going to use him at RB.

Sam may have many infirmities but crystal balls are not one of them. Jacobsen was brought in before Salgado was thought of and will no doubt be a capable deputy (for wages only) depending where Salgado is played.

And what about Emerton who is a solid enough right back? Even if the plan was to play Emerton in central midfield this season he could play at right back if Jacobsen was injured or suspended.

Right Back after signing Jacobsen shouldn't have been a priority area imo and i don't think anyone will convince me otherwise.
