No doubt he was but is he now?

What was the point of bringing in Jacobsen? We have plenty of depth already at right back... For those saying well he can play midfield, his main position was as a full back for a reason.

Sorry I just cannot get that enthusiastic about this signing when I think that the money would have been better spent (Wages) on bringing in a central midfielder rather than another right back. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Me too matey, I can't understand our thinking.

When you have a great footballer who is available, a player with the CV, charisma and aura of Michel Salgado, his mere presence will lift the players and as you can see already the fans. This is a marque signing which has certainly made people stand up and take notice.

We play at Ewood not in a Marque. I'll leave that for the real clowns.

But is all that depth not from midfielders? Emerton, Andrews, Reid etc??

The aim is to have two 'specialist' players to every position, play the defenders in defence and the midfielders in midfield, where possible of course.

The fact we have several versatile players in the squad is great, but I'd rather have someone who plays there naturally as backup, and just the versatile ones in a emergency.
