Oklahoma Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 We are going to sign Rothen? Another trialist on the way? The possible replacement of Samba has gone back since he is no longer needed?

nicko Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Steven Warnock is on his way. Pulled out of the trip to Sunderland, Villa have been abck on and are going to do it...Rovers have accepted the offer...not sure of the figure but it may rise as high as £8 million installments. I think there may be a few questions raised on this one. Like how much up front and how much in add-ons. Anyway, he is off...and hopefully the consolation is that the money is spent on a midfielder or two. Interesting times. Loads kicking off elsewhere too. But saving that for a Sunday paper you may have heard of...
SYRovers Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I get the feeling it's going to be something new, that we haven't heard before.. ...ooor not then. We had best bring in some quality in the midfield then or I shall be most upset! SAM! get your bid in for Emana quick smart!
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Sorry to see him go but if the money is needed to strengthen midfield then so be it. Hopefully the triallist works out and gets kept on as the centre back cover that Givet would have provided if he wasn't becoming our only Premier-class left back.
dinglebasher Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I get the feeling it's going to be something new, that we haven't heard before.. I've got a feeling Warnock's going to Villa for about 8 million. Double drat.
Ninja Boi Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 We are going to sign Rothen? Another trialist on the way? The possible replacement of Samba has gone back since he is no longer needed? Excellent news for Villa fans, hes a top player and they need a defender desperately.

How many shirts would Beckham sell Mick?
Oklahoma Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I have no problem with selling him but it would have to be for more than £12 million. I just hope that money is used to bring a very good centre midfielder... Use Salgado's links in Real Madrid to get some of their players...
hi-jaq Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I knew this was going to happen, even though I didnt want to admit it... It's why Sam bought Givet, if Samba went, centre half, if Stevie goes, left back. Oh well... spend the cash on new midfielders, we'll be right!!! GUTTED THOUGH!!!
ben_the_beast Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Absolute joke. In todays market it should be 8mil up front rising to 10mil plus. Thought Sam had said triple your offer. Yes it will get us a couple of midfielders but i get the feeling we are being done here if you compare to other transfers happening this summer. Plus I like Warnock

But saving that for a Sunday paper you may have heard of... 8million is not enough, has to be at least 10m! I'm in two minds about this, but trust sam to do the right thing for the team. I'll second the bid for Emana, top player and exacty what we need.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 It's been on the cards since Hughes left in my opinion. Can't say that I'm happy , we'll have to sign a left back now. Givet's O.K. there but he's a better centre half in my book.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Very disappointing. I just can't see us spending money on a midfielder and i think we are shooting ourselves into the foot. Going to be a bit of fan backlash over this, voted our player of the year and regarded as a main player by the fanbase, can see Sam getting some serious flack over this. Nicko has he been sold mainly to cover Salgado's wages? If so a frucking disgrace. £8 million the fee? looking at around £4 million once the board of took a load of it. Not going to buy much...
1864roverite Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Surely, the night or day before a game is totally unacceptable behaviour from a man like mon and a club like avfc to make a bid for a player. mon continually preaches about how to run a club and if they have done this on a Friday then its a total slap in the cacker from them.
Kelbo Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I have no problem with selling him but it would have to be for more than £12 million. I just hope that money is used to bring a very good centre midfielder... Use Salgado's links in Real Madrid to get some of their players... My thoughts exactly and I think Sam knows his man!
USA Rover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 8million is not enough, has to be at least 10m! I'm in two minds about this, but trust sam to do the right thing for the team. I hope he uses this money to hi-jack the Emana transfer. He'd be class.

I hope we play it like last year, not letting him leave until we have a replacement (albeit in midfield) lined up.
cn174 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Can't say I'm that bothered really. I think he's wanted to go for ages, and if we get £8m that would be a good deal imo.
des Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I would of liked to have kept him, however if we need the money for a midfiled player then so be it. However we need the money up front and it needs to be spent well
greco Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 not enough money in it. i was pleasently surprised to hear sam state, it would take aprox 12 to get warnock, so im dissapointed by the fact, we are only getting 8.
beerwins Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 If we sign a decent centre mid , i think its a fair enough sacrafice warnock blows hot and cold and i was a bit annoyed with him after he got the monk on after being took out of centre mid to play left back again last season, but if the money fades away into trustees pockets and no centre mid is signed i have to say that to sell him was needless.

I dont reckon it will have been all his descision... Bet he doesnt see half of the money, if the bid is big enough the bank will have stepped in!!!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 This will weaken us, but not critically. Why the f. do we always sell the player who models our shirts in the close season!?! I expect that the cash won't be spent and even more bitterness towards the board will be forthcoming.
