Amo Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Really divided on this one. Warnock's been a fine player for us, and I thought the defence looked in good shape against Man.City. £8m doesn't sound all that much, when you consider Wayne Bridge went for much more than that (and Warnock is younger too). And how much is Sam even going to see of this? And who wants to bet we STILL don't sign a creative midfielder?
G Somerset Rover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Can we now give Andrews Rovers player of the year for 09/10?
rovers1995 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I feel sick tonight. One of best players. Not enough money and we all know that Sam Allardyce will not get the money to spend. We are going to regret this decision. I can guarantee that
Hi Mack Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Disgrace.......Warnock tipifies Blackburn. Big Sam is digging his own grave very slowly if he doesnt have a plan B! Brad Warnock Bentley Santa Cruz our 4 best players 2 seasons ago GONE!
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 All you fans who assume the money will be spent on a midfielder don't get your hopes up, there's no guarantee money is going to be spent on a midfielder. Once they've took their share there won't be much left over. Not happy at all about this.
Hi Mack Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Can we now give Andrews Rovers player of the year for 09/10? HAHAHA hes got my Vote!
sam_rovers Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 really disappointing.. especially if the 8 million figure is correct.
dinglebasher Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I still the squad is, overall, stronger than it was last season. Having said that, we are assuming that all these new signings are going to gel. I don't think losing Warnock is as much of a disaster as it may seem - Givet has proven himself to be just as good, and Olssen has potential. Realistically, a club like ours has to focus on the overall quality of the squad, rather than having big names in only a few positions. Let's see what happens. I'd heard that Enema was a rather lax player. *Doffs cap*

Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Good business if we can replace him with a top player. Bad business if we don't. If we sell him and bring nobody in then there is a serious problem at our club.
BRFC1995 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 not really fussed, givet has been out of this world since he signed and given that the admiral is our captain and that samba always plays a place in midfield was going to be his best shot at a game. Just relieved its not samba, over it already.
The Rover of Finland Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 £8m for 28 year old is very much money. Warnock has done very well for Rovers but we seem to be done excellent business here. He´s not going to be as good for Villa. Still, we are selling one of the biggest players so the money must be used well. It´s a nightmare if there´s not gonna be new signings and money goes to trustees. In Big Sam we trust, I do atleast.
BB9 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Dont like to see him go but IF the end result is getting a quality midfielder in then so be it.
alexanders Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I know someone eariler mentioned that they had name their dog or got a shirt with Warnock on , so he was leaving, because that had happened with other players earlier. I am gutted that we are selling Warnock. A very very good player on his day and always 100% commitment from him. It is a too low fee and I will be very dissapointed if we know don't strengthen our midfield.

Just relieved its not samba, over it already. Givet offers NOTHING going forward, nothing. He aint even a left back for god sake he's a left footed centre back. If he gets injured then Olsson comes in and from what i've seen i don't think he is up to standard.

The players in arent as good (yet) as these who have left!
Tom 1 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 If that fee is right Nicko and potentially not even completely up front fee then I am delighted, thought it would be double figures and we'd be priced out. Finally that piece of ###### Shorey is never going to play for us again with Bouma back soon as well.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 The problem is Givet - who I believe to our best centre half is now going to be moved to left back. If Sam gets ALL of the Warnock money then fair enough, but if he doesn't then I'm going to be furious with this decision.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Players come and players go, no one is immune to being sold - look at Cristiano Ronaldo, Adebayor, Toure... We signed Warnock for £1.5m and have sold him on for a significant profit, even if it's less than some of the ludicrously inflated figures floating around football lately. We had a few very good seasons out of him and now he has the chance to join a club finishing in the top six and trying to push for a Champions League spot. I don't blame him and neither should anyone else - it's business. Stevie, you were great for us and I wish you all the best.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I had wondered whether the club are waiting to see which of the returning quartet of midfielders breaks down in the Gillingham game before deciding on whether a centre mid will be signed. Clean bill of health and you can bet your bottom dollar no midfielder will be signed. Anyway IF we do sign a new mid - pleease just 1 QUALITY player not 2/3 trialists/longshots.
Ozz Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 UPTO £8M was what Nicko says, which means it will probably be £4m now and the rest when he signs for Spurs in 2010. Disappointed he is leaving, but he treads a well trodden path...they never learn do they.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Hey Nicko, Any news regarding the Senegalese trialist who was at the club? I think he was a left back.
