Got to say im very very disappointed by this. Not because he's our main attack minded defender, but because it is yet another creative player we could play in the middle of midfield who is going. After Gally today. Add to this it is another domestic player on the fringes of International football being flogged after Bentley.

Obviously, if we can bring in a youngish left back on the cheap or free it would make sense. But if we are going to sell a better player and bring in 2 average players, i am going to be left very miffed.

From what i have heard Gohouri is a distincly average player. Also if the money isn't being paid in full, it surely doesnt make sense as it gives the board the perfect excuse to take two chunks out of the two payments over a period of a year.

I can see/heard the Allardyce interview already during the early stages of the season. We miss Warnock but their wasn't anything i could do about him leaving. He wanted to leave. Yadayadayada, not enough time to find a replacement, yadayadayada, money is tight even with him being sold. :(

If money is not put into transfers, then the club will lose all credibility with its supporters !!

If I had a dime for every supporter who's said that since the summer of 2004.......... :(

Do not know if it's related, but I thought there was something strange about all the French papers making a big deal out of Rothen not being included in PSG's trip to Valenciennes.

I want Jerome to come, but not at the expense of Warnock. God Damn Trustees.

One last thing, everyone that has had Warnock printed on your shirt, you won't get a refund. I think it's disgraceful because when Rovers came out and said Warnock won't get sold, they screwed over every single one of the supporters.

what?

Business is business. Things change. This is football etc

How is it an overreaction?

We've sold a left back. It's hardly a situation of Shearer-esque proportion.

You'd think it was the end of the football club as we know it. He'll go to Villa and carry on being a defender who isn't quite good enough to play for England. I like him but he's hardly irreplaceable.

Sorry, how do you know that? Has he gone?

Have Rovers made that statement?

Just go with 'GARNER' and play it safe I reckon. 'HENDRY' did me. Still a legend though.

On the flip side, this could be good for Pedersen. Wasn't it the more defensive Neill who played behind him when he was playing well? Less tracking back, for sure.

So very true, in the last game he showed signs of being back to his normal self getting to the back post for rw crosses, he is gonna score some goals this year i have no doubt, pedersons downfall was having to track back he lost the attacking side to his game,

Nicko's comment about 'questions need to be answered' is interesting. Perhaps he knows more behind the scene on why we have sold Warnock, they way he said it indicates something negative.

Have we sold Warnock to pay for Salgado?

Are the finances worse than first though so the board decided to cash in?

Is there no plans to bring anyone in with what's left of the money?

For the record i am not happy with the sale of Warnock mainly because i think he is one of the best left backs in the prem, we are selling him cheaply and he has the battling qualities that could be needed if we find ourself flirting with relegation. If we bring in a midfielder then i might come more round to the deal, but i can't see anyone coming in. If Sam really wanted to bring in a midfielder he would have cashed in on Andrews when he had the chance. I also think he will find it hard to go to the board and say he wants to bring in a midfielder when they can just turn around and say you have plenty on the books so you have to make do.

Also what really irks me is if we needed to sell players to raise finances there is a list of players i would have rather sold who offer far less to this team than Warnock do. Pedersen being the main one.

I'm worried this is the case.

I'm also worried that it won't be long before Sam has had enough of this and decides to walk.

You didn't get Warnock on your shirt did you by any chance? You get whoever you get at your own risk. I remember getting Perez on the back of my shirt and he wasn't here for very long at all after.

Find it rather disappointing that this Nixon chap hasn't hung around to answer any of the questions about his article.

I think our main worry is that the Warnock money will just disappear.

One thing i can see happening is the age old excuse "the money is being kept back for the January transfer window" then during the January transfer window we will get the, "money has been used to balance books so we are looking to sign players on a tight budget".

If this happens, 1 or 2 half decent players better be signed otherwise John Williams is going to lose a massive amount of respect from a massive amount of fans.

Disgracefull:

Will it really be Williams' fault if this happens though? Surely it will be more the trustees' fault as they are the one to put money into the club which they aren't doing now as they want to sell the club

Boo!

I will reserve judgement on the wisdom of the deal once the fee and its breakdown is confirmed...and the money spent.

If you got good money for Warnock it is good business.

If you spend it all and wisely then it is good business.

Anything less than the full fee and a good signing or two will make it a step backwards.

blackburn rovers players of the season

2005-06 - craig bellamy - sold

2006-07 - david bentley - sold

2007-08 - roque santa cruz - sold

2008-09 - stephen warnock - sold

i dunno who i want to win this year

benni/ pedersen/grella/dunn/roberts...........theres a few worthy candidates, receiving approx 42m for for 4 players in 3 years(forgetting all the sell on rubbish) is outstanding business for a small club.
