Warnock is one of our most overrated players. If we sell him for 8M it is good business, though admittedly in the current market it is a little on the low side. I hope we can use the money to strengthen midfield.

I won't miss him. He's been angling for a move since last August and was during Ince's tenure the main disruptive influence in the dressing room. Regardless of whether the players liked Ince or not, they still had a duty to try and perform their best for the fans who had paid to see them, and Warnock did not do that or have any intention of doing that.

Nicko when you're next around could you please advise on the status of the trialists, in particularly the Ivory Coast defender? The 19 year old winger sounded interesting too, was there any follow up on him?

Don't really care about Ellington but maybe as depth he might be ok.

Er.... Salgado, Jacobsen, Van Heerden, Nzonzi and Hoillet are five quality players you might have missed off your list..

Sam is obviously shaping the squad along his own lines. I like the new improved Pedersen and whilst I'm sure we will miss the creative attacking play of Warnock, I think we will be fine if we can either a) start getting some return from our midfield crock-pots or B) sign a flair midfield player capable of crossing into the box.

I agree with Philipl (I think it was he) who noted that Warnock was somewhat out of place in the squad with recent acquisitions.

Up the Rovers (starting today at SOL please).

Sorry, my mistake. I think you could only argue Kalinic, Di Santo, Salgado and possibly N'Zonzi have strengthened the squad. Hoillet is a long shot. Is Jacobsen an improvement on Ooijer? Is Van Heerden Premier League quality?

I maintain that with RSC, Tugay and Warnock gone we are weaker than at the end of the season. Let's hope the board give Sam the money needed to strengthen.

Absolute joke. In todays market it should be 8mil up front rising to 10mil plus. Thought Sam had said triple your offer. Yes it will get us a couple of midfielders but i get the feeling we are being done here if you compare to other transfers happening this summer.

I wouldn't disagree with that. He is a strong and inspirational player for us. I'd have liked us to have stood on for another 2-3 million as a minimum for Englands second best full back, but buying for 1 million and selling for many times that does fit into our necessary business model. Givet to go in January anyone?

Salgado is a good signing no doubt but we'll not make anything on him so the onus is on SA to continue unearthing bargains like the last but one manager. Speaking of which Hughes tenure here has made us countless millions yet when I suggested 2-3 years ago a megabucks %age bonus deal to keep him and his team here I was roundly criticised by the less entrepreneurial members. Hughes and BRFC really were the perfect business team.

Really divided on this one. Warnock's been a fine player for us, and I thought the defence looked in good shape against Man.City. £8m doesn't sound all that much, when you consider Wayne Bridge went for much more than that (and Warnock is younger too).

I thought Bridge's fee has not been announced? Warnocks a street in front of him as a player though.

I feel sick tonight. One of best players. Not enough money and we all know that Sam Allardyce will not get the money to spend. We are going to regret this decision. I can guarantee that

I take it you are not from the Nat West?

Its a big moment and it is hard to digest both sales, Warnock, Gally.

Gally is disppointing. I am in the half full camp. This guy is a £10 million midfielder,a rare gem who can do what other can't. However it is equally true the glass is half empty. Gally has always lacked desire, bite. His fitness levels are low and desire has been an issue. Quite frankly his record leads to the conclusion he will never make it top flight. I do not think he has been given a chance in CM and so long as he plays there (and nowhere else) he will be a very good player.

Warnock is player who Phillip summed up well. Forgiven for his many errors due to his hard working honest attitude. I think £4m is a good money for Warnock and Ollson is improving fast. Givet offers us nothing going forward and should not be first choice LB.

What are you smoking? He's not even England's second best left back. Are you saying you rate him higher than Wayne Bridge or Ashley Cole then? If so you're taking the fanboy tage to a whole new level.

I rate him higher then Wayne Bridge, but allot lower then Ashley Cole.

Lop the 15% off for the usual sticky fingers (agent and player), my guess is Sam comfortably has £5m to play with and accepting the offer at this stage of the window points to Sam knowing exactly what he wants to do with it. Let's see.

Are those 'dips' not the responsibility of the buying club?

I'm sorry, but when did Warnock become something other than a headless chicken with the scariest defensive lapses going? I must have missed that day. Delighted to see him go- Givet's head and shoulders better.

Now Sam WOULD become the messiah if we could get actual cash money for Pedersen- and got back on the phone to Fulham biting their hands off on Andrews!! (who by the way is actually worse than Darren Peacock as a player- something I never thought I'd be saying!)

Works for the long ball approach. Lump it up for him to head in.

Getting my coat...

Something has obviously changed from yesterday, Sam's comments were that apart from Paul Gallagher, nothing was happening transfer wise...

I wouldn't believe everything he says. He told me he won first prize at the karaoke!

One last thing, everyone that has had Warnock printed on your shirt, you won't get a refund. I think it's disgraceful because when Rovers came out and said Warnock won't get sold, they screwed over every single one of the supporters.

Good point. Stupidity on both sides of that particular fence.

I'm also worried that it won't be long before Sam has had enough of this and decides to walk.

The places to walk to are getting less. The cold wind of change is not just blowing down Bolton Road you know. Where do you think he could better himself in the Prem? The few clubs with money have delusions of grandeur.

he is certainly no better than emerton so i'd hope not,

Nolan's scored a damned site more than emo thats for sure. Brett doesn't have the necessary Devil in him to be a regular scorer.

I love all the posters coming on and saying "he was never that good anyway, always lost concentration blah blah blah". He was one of our top players. He's the 2nd or 3rd best English left back in the country so of course we're going to miss him. Yes he did commit the odd rash tackle and now and again showed a slight lapse in concentration, but he certainly contributed more than 90% of the rest of the team.

On a side note I really don't want to see Givet moved to left back. I think he's our best centre back and is so effective there.

MON was not mad when Liverpool bid for Barry, he was mad when the would not pay the price and tried to unsettle the player through the media. Villa have not gone public with the interest in Warnock and have not been in the media tapping him up. So I don't think it is the same situation at all.

All clubs buys players, it is how you do it that is different.

Villa bid a paltry figure which they have now doubled. How public's that? As I've said it's dog eat dog with the platitudes and hype simply to fool the ever gullible supporters. Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear in the world of football is good advice DV.

whatever cash is made available , does he spend it now , or wait and see where we are in january?

there is no extra money available if we spend it now and come january we in in/around the bottom 3 how do we get new players in?

Also worth pointing out that a transfer kitty of 5-6 million for someone like Allardyce, would be the equivalent of 10-12 million for a muppet like Ince.

I expect better from an ex-pro who made vhis living from the game WWWM. Can I suggest that if you want Paul Ince insulted you only have to ask. ;)

Feeling a little ###### off about this. Not because we've sold a player (because that is the nature of football) but how we seem to be slipping backwards so badly. Not so long ago - we'd be on a par with a club like Villa, if anything a more attractive proposition...... today I sense we're a step down from them and other clubs, and players look at moving from us as a general step up to clubs of this type.

I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but overall I just feel its getting harder and harder to attract and then keep players who we did get because our league and financial position was better. Finishing lower down the league also has a massive impact on how much money we have to spend.

Do I think we'll slip out of the league? No absolutely not since I do think overall Sam is building a solid enough team, but it just feels as if we've become a little like Wigan, buy a player, bring then on, sell them when a 'bigger' club comes along, start all over again.
