The Banega deal has been denied by Valencia. Maybe Rovers can get him... And no, this is not a FM player....

Van der Vaart wants to play in England.

Since we already have Salgado, why not try him on loan?

He wants to play regular football to be at top form in the World Cup.

There's no way Bentley will come back. It would be like accepting he is no good for a higher level...

Bentley found his level, kicking balls into bins on Utube.

Never go back in football.

Bentley is a very good player. He's just stuck with a manager who isn't interested in getting the best out of him.

Colin Hendry came back to us.

Mark Hughes went back to United.

I'm sure there are other examples of successful returns.

You never know...

Let me get this straight. You think we have more chance of signing Van der Vaart with his huge wages (even on loan!) then we have of signing Bentley, a player Spurs want rid of?

Perhaps not as good as his first spell but Dunny's done alright for us as well, Keane's doing alright for Spuds along with Defoe.

There are certainly exceptions to the rule, probably 50/50 for ones that come off and one's that don't.

I think it's a moot point though, Spuds paid around 17m for Bentley and we all know they are hard to deal with in the transfer market and will want to recoup as much as possible if not all, can't see them letting him leave for less than say 14m which we can't afford unless we decide to sell 2 first teamers!!

David Dunn?

Point proved...

Hasn't he worked out well. ;)

Yes some have gone back and done well, but its never the same as it was before.

Bentleys gone and gone for good, move one and look to the future don't dwell on the past.

Edit: Deadly you actually think Dunns been alright, with the amount of time he's not been anywhere near the pitch??

He's done alright when he has played but yeh on the whole the main problem is being injured, he hasn't been as good for us as he was before but I don't think he's been a flop.

£8m Warnock out, £8m Kranjcar in. Yes please. I guess Kranjcar is on higher wages than Warnock though so might be a tough one to pull off. Tuncay would be great too, although he can't play CM in a 4-4-2. Would still be an improvement on the right or as a second striker, but I would rather improve the weakest area of our team (i.e CM) for that kind of money.

He'll soon be on no wages at Pompey!

Nicko,

Is there anything in the Burnley Nicky Butt link this morning?

I thought Sam might have a look at Butt to play about 50% of our games and bring along N'Zonzi.

Butt ain't good enough for them!

Are you realted to Paul Ince?

Uncle Paul to you!

Henning Berg

Henning Berg was quality, I remembered him yesterday when things went a bit wrong for Kalinic, anybody remember his debut against Wednesday, had a 'mare' and Paul Warhurst got two for Wednesday!! was it the league cup??

In my opinion, in this context, yes. These are multi-millionaires thrown together by other people, not a group of mates playing together because they enjoy it on a Sunday morning.

I know what you are saying but rich kids or not they are human. To have it your way the multi-millionaire from SW Lancs should have been 'in the right frame of mind' for the Sunderland game.

True - but was Warnock saying he was in the wrong state of mind, or did Sam drop him to express his disgust? The info so far suggests the latter.

Blowing my own trumpet here kelbo cos I had Berg down as a very good player that night and was pleased that we signed him.

BUT ......... the flip side of the trumpet blowing was my opinon of Patrick Anderson who was also making his debut at CH. It was him that had the real 'mare' that night. I thought he was absolutely crap........ but he went on to play for Bayern and I think win a CL winners medal.

Can't win em all eh?

lol I think we all underestimated Anderson based on his limited and rather poor appearances......nowadays he'd be given a year to 'adjust to the pace of the prem' and we'd so he'd have been alright!

Not a flop on the pitch, but because of his injuries about 12 months worth to date and lack of games. I'd say he wasn't the best move with hindsight. I would love to know how many injuries he had under Hughes when he signed though?

Where's that info from mate?

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/23082009/63/...-allardyce.html

A partial quote:

"He is at home because he struggled to focus on this game and didn't feel that mentally he was capable enough of giving his best, so we both took the decision to leave him back at Ewood," Allardyce said.

"There have been no developments on the transfer front, but he didn't feel and I didn't feel that it was the right thing to do to play him."
