Let me get this straight. You think we have more chance of signing Van der Vaart with his huge wages (even on loan!) then we have of signing Bentley, a player Spurs want rid of?

In case you haven't noticed, the end of transfer period is coming.

So, if a player like Van der Vaart, that is a regular or his national team and has been "warned" that he should play more, is persuaded by Sam and Salgado to come to Rovers on loan, he could come.

And Real will have to afford part of his salary when he goes out on loan, most teams can't compete with their salaries.

I think the main problem is tha Bentley wouldn't want to come to us.

It wouldn't be a question of money, it would be a question of pride...

I think by now Bentley knows everyone thinks he's a joke.

I'd love Van der Vaart to come, but don't see it happening.

Hi guys, a Villa fan here!

I've "heard" an £8 Million straight cash bid has been accepted, apparently we bid £6 Million rising, you wanted £8 Million and rising, so we offered £8 Million straight cash.

The person I get information off can be a little hit and miss, although he does have contacts but not right at the top at Villa.

Good luck for the season and I hope it turns out to be true :)

Is the problem still a creative midfielder? Having watched the 2 games, there is a much much bigger question mark around our strikers. We have created chance after chance. 10 corners on Saturday to Sunderlands 0. We have just sold Gally, Di Santo has picked up an injury, Kalinic is new and we have Lloyd and Harry as the other 2 strikers. Its no use we have a creative midfielder, if our finishing is what we have seen the last 2 games. The problem has now gone beyond that creative midfielder we require. Am i being dramatic? Probably!

No, you maybe right. Without a creative midfielder, Rovers created many chances in both games - but did not put them away. I have not heard how long di santo will be out for - but as he is on loan and injured, do we send him back before Jan?

But the problem in both games was putting away the chances that were created.

Who's Lloyd and Harry?

WARNOCK...just a small update...the plan is to pick him against Gillingham unless Villa increase their bid...I think today will be very important...because Rovers obviously travel down the day before the match...I would expect developments...and my money is on it happening...but we are dealing with Villa who are slow negotiators.

Not much else to report...no more word on Gohouri and if he has arrived...starting to sound a bit of an odd one.

He had actually shook hands on a deal with Dalglish. What could have been - not only would we have been stronger - but United would have been considerably weaker.

The story that I heard on that Keane agreed to join at 5pm on a Friday night. They went to the office for the forms and EVERYBODY HAD GONE HOME.

Keane said he would come back on the Monday to sign. The rest is history.

Edit.

I see GAV got in before me with practically the same story. Probably correct then.

He shook hands on the deal, but the contract was in the safe and the reception had shut for the weekend.

Fergie spoke to Keane over the weekend and managed to change his mind.........

Like John Howarth couldn't have gone back to work and faxed one off for 10 mins! Prem league team but 3rd Div admin.
