thenodrog Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 David Bentley would delight me, personally I think would be the best right midfielder in the league at the moment if he played like he did for us. There's a lot of things working against us in a deal like that though, one being David Bentley. He'd play centre mid in my team with Grella behind him (when fit )

joey_big_nose Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 As much as I enjoy reading some of these posts, this is the transfer topic... David Bentley would delight me, personally I think would be the best right midfielder in the league at the moment if he played like he did for us. There's a lot of things working against us in a deal like that though, one being David Bentley. A creative midfielder is what it's all about. We don't need David Bentley though. We have Diouf who does a decent job and Hoilett, Van Heerden and Doran coming through. What we need is a central player with a good engine and quality on the ball. He'd play centre mid in my team with Grella behind him (when fit ) I would love to be proved wrong but Bentley can't play in the centre of midfiled. Behind the striker yes, but not in the centre of a 442.
Guest ErinBrown Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Selling Matt Derbyshire and keeping Jason Roberts is really starting to look like the cockup of all cockups. If you look at their stats. They are very similar. Derbyshire scored 10 in 63 and Roberts has scored 14 in 70. Derbyshire is also likely to improve with age. Wonder if we could get him back on loan!
RoversSG Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Didn't hodgson turn down Zola for rovers when he was manager of Rovers? Or even worse, didn't we reject laudrup and billic for Ince last season

I f we had played Derbs on Sat we would have got a lot less change from the Sunderland back line. He lacks both the power and the pace of Roberts which caused them so many problems.

Correct me if I am wrong but Matt Derbyshire wanted first team football, we couldn't offer that. Matt Derbyshire plays Champions League football, we can't even offer Europa Cup. Derbyshire is a better finisher than Roberts and has the ability to find gaps in defences but Sam didn't like him because he only scored goals!!!. Ironic considering that non of our strikers can score now.
67splitscreen Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I am sure that Kalinic's three chances would have been nearer the mark with Matty striking them.
Bobby G Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Allardyce has said that he has reluctantly included Warnock in our squad for tomorrow due to injuries. He said JW is negotiating with Villa to get the best deal for us and that its no secret that Warnock wants to move to Villa. He doesnt want to lose him but accepts that it WILL happen. We better be looking to splash the money immediately otherwise its another shot in the foot.

Ironic considering that non of our strikers can score now. So our main problem is we can't put the ball into the back of the net because we have no composed finishers in the squad and the main reason Sam got rid of Derbs was because he was only a composed finisher, and didn't offer anything to the squad? It's enough to make you weap!
Hughesy Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Derbs isnt good enough and wouldnt of caused Sunderland any problems - Get over him!! How is he doing over in Greece? Olympiacos team last week - Nikopolidis, Zewlakow, Avraam Papadopoulos, Mellberg, Raul Bravo (48' Domi), Ledesma, Dudu, Mareska, Galletti (62' Leonardo), Zairi, Diogo (80' Mitroglou).
hollowsr Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Shame Derbyshire can't get into the team when he is injured!!

Bobby G Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Allardyce said that its no secret and no point hiding that Warnock wants to move to a BIG CLUB with Villa's stature.

Rubbish....he'd have put away 2 of Kalinics chances...don't care what you say, debyshire is a poacher, and it was a mistake to get rid. ...he scores goals wherever he is....
Lurid Coat Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Elementary school grammar constitutes an English lesson? Kay, dude. I normally don't point out grammar/spelling mistakes on this forum, but the would have/would of madness has been driving me nuts for some time now. Same goes for the you're/your mistakes. Can't believe how many people are falling into this trap nowadays. But enough with the off topic chit chat from yours truly!
