Paulo Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 what about ledley king or anton ferdinand if samba goes Ledley King?? Please tell me your not serious. He makes Steven Reid look like a personal trainer. Plus he's guarnteed a game when ever fit for a team doing much much better then us, and he's on much better money. Forget making fans happy Rovers, we sold the season tickets, get Joey Barton in.

luredbycheaptickets Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 what about ledley king or anton ferdinand if samba goes and whats this lad on trial like. i find it a co=incidents that week 1 rumours about warnock - costs us goal 4 days later imminent departure -------------------------------week 2 rumours about samba - costs us goal 4 days later? watch this space ...........? Ledley King is only fit to play about one in every 25 games. Anton Ferdinand is really not that good, and would cost more than he's worth - a lot more. Anyway, if there's one thing Sam is good at, it's finding central defenders in the most bizarre places, that cost nothing and turn out to be Prem quality. Famous last words.
Ricky Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 A double swoop for distin and krancjar would be perfect.
Presty On Tour Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Krancjar would be decent but Distin is rubbish and has been for a while now imo.
Guest ErinBrown Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Benni linked to Ajax as was said earlier http://www.goal.com/en/news/462/netherland...ax-radar-report Personally if they offered anything in the region of £5 million or above. I would snap there hands off and put a bid straight in for Tuncay.
nicko Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 No 11 o'clocker...mental busy with day job...but a small update. The Warnock money is going to be spent on a replacement for him and a centre half. Don't shoot the messenger.
beerwins Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Not sure about the hesitance to sell warnock because of nelsons injury , we still have zurab dont we ? and givet can play there too, olsson can play left back if givet had to go cb, if we are going to sell him just sell him if the price is right and concentrate on bringing in another player. Nothing worse than watching a player half heartidly playing for a club when he wants to leave.

Crazyness unless: a) Nelsen's injury is career threatening and he isn't expected to recover B ) Zurab is going to be sold (apparently he has been forgotten) c) Warnock isn't the only defender looking to leave (looks at Samba!) What does it take for Sam to look at how absolutely devoid of creativity our midfield is!?

This news has to be the worst news i have read in all of the transfer window, no creative player being brought in to give us options in the centre of the park SHOCKING decision, how the hell can sam not see that our midfield needs addressing, we have far too many crocks in this area and they are killing us.

Al Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 We will never have any creativity whilst Andrews is our main playmaker. We desparately need a quarterback type and even when everybody is fit nobody fills that role. The Warnock money MUST be used for that purpose.
thenodrog Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Correct me if I am wrong but Matt Derbyshire wanted first team football, we couldn't offer that. Matt Derbyshire plays Champions League football, we can't even offer Europa Cup. Derbyshire is a better finisher than Roberts and has the ability to find gaps in defences but Sam didn't like him because he only scored goals!!!. Ironic considering that non of our strikers can score now. Amazes me how some people choose not to believe the evidence in front of their own eyes. Last time I watched Derbyhshire the non leaguers in the Blyth defence had him in their pocket. Truth is that I'd like to see both Derbs AND Roberts replaced with better players.

The only way I could possibly get on board with this would be if he was going to play Emerton in there as first choice and build around him. That would make us far stronger.

The Warnock money is going to be spent on a replacement for him and a centre half. Don't shoot the messenger. Nicko, when you say a replacement for him do you mean Warnock the LB or Warnock the CM? If it's the former then it just doesn't make any sense to me since if we are buying another centre half to cover Nelsen then surely Givet will play LB.
thenodrog Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Derbs isnt good enough and wouldnt of caused Sunderland any problems - Get over him!! How is he doing over in Greece? Olympiacos team last week - Nikopolidis, Zewlakow, Avraam Papadopoulos, Mellberg, Raul Bravo (48' Domi), Ledesma, Dudu, Mareska, Galletti (62' Leonardo), Zairi, Diogo (80' Mitroglou). Indeed. He only warmed the bench in Greece last season.

The Warnock money is going to be spent on a replacement for him and a centre half. Don't shoot the messenger. I may be wrong but doesn't Sam consider Givet as his first choice left back and, in fact, Warnock as a centre midfielder? This being the case, is it not possible that Sam will indeed buy a 'replacement for him' who is, in fact, a midfielder? Just a thought.....
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 No 11 o'clocker...mental busy with day job...but a small update. The Warnock money is going to be spent on a replacement for him and a centre half. Don't shoot the messenger. WTF! We need a central midfielder, not a centre back or left back. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in a cheap left back but most of the money needs to be spent on a central midfielder. I just don't get Sam's reasoning, just like with the Salgado signing. I can tell you this though, people better be praying for Dunny, Grella and Reidy to keep fit otherwise we are in serious trouble.

A recognised left back...for cover...although Givet will probably play there more often that not... The centre half will be cheap. If both can be landed then there may be the chance of more. But those two positions are the priority right now.
Oklahoma Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Nicko, could it be Zoro for centre half? He still doesn't have a club.

Looks like if Warnock is sold Sam won't see much of it... Praying that O'Neill decides to pull out now, its clear that what's left of the money aint going to spent wisely...

Fife Rover Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Forget making fans happy Rovers, we sold the season tickets, get Joey Barton in. What a brilliant idea. That's the one certain and guaranteed way to restore Ewood Park to it's former gloriesof the old third division days, accompanied by similar attendances when all the newly gained S/T holders apply for a refund, and thousands of others as well all decide to find something else to do on matchdays. It's happened before!!
Paulo Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Dunn, Reid and Emerton are expected back tomorrow, all 3 can boost our center midfield. IF, and its a big IF, all 3 stay fit then along with Nzonzi, Grella and Andrews we have enough center midfielders. I know we are desperate for a creative midfielder, but the defence has to come first. After all, we DID create in our two games, we just cant score. Olsson is useless at left back and another injury to Nelsen will only make him worse. So i do see the lodgic, however nice a center midfilder would be. I only hope Sam's waiting til deadline day when everyone is desperate for any signing, and snaps up Joey B.
