Dont know if this is a wind up but a phone call from a colleague in the North East (where I worked all last week) is suggesting that Rovers are primed for a raid on Newcastle for Nicky Butt and Ryan Taylor (ahead of a BWFC bid) !

Alan, I dont know whether you old oppo Alan Oliver could confirm whether this is a "potential" or just pure and utter rumour rubbish.

If Warnock is to be sold then our left back options must be limited to Bale (Spurs) or Taylor, I dont see any other option. As for the central defence option, how about Ollson from WBA ?

A recognised left back...for cover...although Givet will probably play there more often that not...

The centre half will be cheap.

If both can be landed then there may be the chance of more.

But those two positions are the priority right now.

Your matter of factness reads like you are enjoying this.

There is no way now that we have Salgado, Jakobsen and Givet (added to Nelsen, Samba and Zurab, and Emerton if necessary) that defence should be our priority. If Sam thinks it is, I'm very worried.

Here is Sam's press conference if anyone hasn't seen it regarding Warnock and future transfers.

Dissapointed to here him say that we will always be a selling club, surely we don't have to publicly admit that even if it's now glaringly true.

The moves of Ronaldo, Adebayor, Lescott, Barry etc etc prove that with the exception of Madrid every club is a selling club. No doubt Hadjuk Split's fans think the same.

Dunn, Reid and Emerton are expected back tomorrow, all 3 can boost our center midfield.

IF, and its a big IF, all 3 stay fit then along with Nzonzi, Grella and Andrews we have enough center midfielders. I know we are desperate for a creative midfielder, but the defence has to come first. After all, we DID create in our two games, we just cant score.

Olsson is useless at left back and another injury to Nelsen will only make him worse.

So i do see the lodgic, however nice a center midfilder would be.

I only hope Sam's waiting til deadline day when everyone is desperate for any signing, and snaps up Joey B.

Emerton is the only one of out those three that i am confident will keep fit, Dunny and Reidy will have periods where they will be out.

I don't agree with you or Sam that defence is an issue, plenty of options there to choose from. Midfield is so key to the team, without a decent midfield you will put pressure on your defence, without a decent midfield you will not create enough chances. Our midfield has been in decline for the past 2-3 seasons.

Completely baffled that Sam doesn't see it as a problem, ask any Rovers fan and they will tell you its by far the weakest part of our squad.

Sam is going to play Emo in the middle. And there is Dunny, Grella and Reid still coming. Andrews and N`Zonzi will be back ups. Nothings gonna change. Top 10 is our maximum. Injuries could kill us. Lucky there´s Hull and Pompey in the league. Off topic but does anyone else see connection between Wigan and last season Blackburn? Young manager, took his men (Scotland, Gomez) with, great start, screwed "easy match" and then really crashed at home against big club. Wigan will be in great trouble.

Sam has lost his way. The only way is down. :(

His body language has not been good in most of the press conferences I've seen so far this season. He looked very despondent in today's interview too.

"Selling club", "Small town club", "Back to the historic days of the past".

There'll be some of our squad listening to that wondering if they are next! Can't be good for morale.

That's not my point, it's obvious to see we are a selling club now, I just don't think the manager should be openly saying it, that's what disappointed me. If he wants to point out things that are glaringly obvious then he could start with the midfield.

Maybe the board should manage the team then. I dont agree that the final decision does not lie with Sam. It really is a sad state of affairs

Wrong iceman.

1. It is not a requirement for football managers to have any financial training.

and

2. They only stay 2.5 years on average anyway so how the hell can you advocate such short term management? They would not care if they bankrupt the club so long as they move on to a better job. And if you need proof of that look no further that the sh1t that Redknapp has left Pompey in. Rem he used the NUFC interest to blackmail them into giving him stupid money to spend and njow they are on the edge of bankruptcy.

i think our defence is solid as a rock

good riddance warnock

but id like the money spent on beckhem or bentley or even delph someone who can pass to feet not sky

Delph's just been sold to Villa about a fortnight ago!

Sounds totally stupid to sell Warnock then if all its going to pay for is a cheap backup (probably inferior than Warnock) left back and a cheap CB (Gourhouri?). Warnock can play in midfield against weaker teams so thats something else we would lose.

The only way i would have agreed to selling Warnock would have been to bring in a top notch central midfielder or attacking midfielder, its looking like we are trying it on the cheap as usual and aint even going to look at improving on that position.

I hope O'Neill the ditherer pulls out.

Wonder if Nelsens injury is a bad one then. Would explain the need for an additional cb, especially if zurab is on his way out. If Sam is confident that Reid, dunn, emerton, and grella are going to be fit soon then I can understand not going for another midfielder, it's a big ask though

What a brilliant idea. That's the one certain and guaranteed way to restore Ewood Park to it's former gloriesof the old third division days, accompanied by similar attendances when all the newly gained S/T holders apply for a refund, and thousands of others as well all decide to find something else to do on matchdays. It's happened before!!

Fife... try as you might but I'm afraid that the roll of drama queen does not suit you.

Does anyone else think that after putting forward a great deal for ST's, the club are now doing their best to kill any support that might have been gained?

So let me get this right. A left back who can cover Givet............. So he will be cheap...... A cheap center half when we already have Zurab..........

Sounds like the 'Board' are going to bank a massive wad of cash again to me. My guess is if we get £8 million for Warnock, Sam will get about £3 million of that back to reinvest.

Absolutely pathetic if you ask me. We are not getting a penny out of our supposed backers and no progress has been made in years with selling the club, meanwhile teams that are/were below us are getting investment and moving past us as we freefall down below them.

Change was always going to be needed at Rovers.

I dont think SA has a look of a despondent man about him. he knew what he was taking on and he KNEW that we are not awash with money. At the same point he now knows we havent got a shed load of debt hanging over us either.

Rovers cannot keep pace with clubs as big as Villa thats a FACT. If any club bigger than Rovers calls for a player then he is going, we accept that sine die. Clubs like Villa, Spurs, Everton snap their fingers and players will leave without question. Rovers cannot compete with them.

Sam knows what he has to do thats why he is a manager, and a good one at that. He will do whats best with the resources he has.

Yes, were are all down after a poor start but please lets not go overboard too soon.

i would normally be panicking about the things that have happened over the last few days and the things that allardyce has said but to be honest, I don't care anymore don't get me wrong i love Rovers but i'm tired of football it's a game of tossers run by tossers and it's all about money. Those that have it will stay in the prem long term and those that don't wont simple as that. My advice start supporting either your local club or England cricket team.

Staggering.

Absolutely staggering.

Why is it staggering. It's not the first time we have sold our best player and replaced them with cheap rubbish and it won't be the last. There is no point in being angry about it just enjoy watching Rovers in the Prem while you still can instead of moaning about everything.

Allardyce has to take Reid, Dunn, Emerton and Grella into account. Let's say all of them return to fitness, as scheduled. Can we afford to be benching them? Especially when they have match-fitness to make up on. I understand the frustration, but these players are part of the squad and have to be considered.

If it has to be a cheap CH I said after the Hibs game I was impressed with Sol Bamba

Hibs payed 50k for him on deadline day last season.

He stopped us in our tracks all night and good in the air played some nice balls out of defense to his own players.

Hails from the Ivory coast.

No need for a work permit 24 year old 6'3'

Samba & Bamba a commentators nightmare.

I agree. I mentioned it before, we can't afford to have Dunn, Reid, Emerton and Grella all fit and NOT playing, because we have bought an expensive creative midfielder.

Andrews stays because he fills in whenever the aforementioned players can't start (which admittely is occuring more often than we would like at the moment).

Keep the team together, evolution not revolution will bring the best results.
