LDRover Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Very good! What would Mr Shankly make of it all? (I can't get any more obscure) He'd be a flatulent pain in the arse obviously.

Guest ErinBrown Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Sky Sources Understand Villa have made a bid for Distin. Could this put a end to their interest in Warnock i wonder? please name two clubs in England that are NOT selling club? Burnley - Because their players are so old and rubbish nobody would want them. Man City - They don't have to sell because they have so much money.
Bobby G Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Distin is a center back primarily so I can see this complementing the Warnock signing rather than replacing.
T4E Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Who wouldn't already have known that?? btw Prof.... please name two clubs in England that are NOT selling club? Thats not the point Gordon, the way Sam expressed the point yesterday was unlike anything I've heard another manager in this division say.
PAFELL Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Thats not the point Gordon, the way Sam expressed the point yesterday was unlike anything I've heard another manager in this division say. It could also be another tactic from Sam. he has players he wants rid, so as to replace them. Or even a reminder that Rovers are a small club on the market - a kind of plea for help.
T4E Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I've read that a few times Pafell and I still don't understand what you're saying. Tactic how?
Backroom trueblue Posted August 25, 2009 Backroom Posted August 25, 2009 It could also be another tactic from Sam. he has players he wants rid, so as to replace them. Or even a reminder that Rovers are a small club on the market - a kind of plea for help. <--- waits for the flak on the board thats surely gonna hit after that comment
Hughesy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 not sure if many saw gamst/dioufs corners against Sunderland, but 90% of the time they were VERY dangerous! Correct - very good - hopefully that continues. that looks good on paper, but it's on the field it counts,as much as i like dunny and reid its last chance saloon for them,i don't rate grella /gamst /spit the dog/not seen enough of nzonzi/doran/van heerden/hoilett.andrewes is hated by 70% of the fans leaves us with mmmmmmmmmmmmmm I know what your saying, but im saying we cant realistically bring someone in, when we have so many midfielders. Dunn & Reid are last chance and out of contract soon, as is Gamst. I've read that a few times Pafell and I still don't understand what you're saying. Tactic how? Me neither
Steve Moss Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 . . . we cant realistically bring someone in, when we have so many midfielders. Dunn & Reid are last chance and out of contract soon . . .. Good. We need to clear out some of the dead weight.
TimmyJimmy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Puzzled as to why people are commenting on Sam being unhappy with selling Warnock. Isn't he the one who fell out with Warnock and left him at home this weekend because 'his head wasn't right'. What's this got to do with the board's selling policy and Sam being unhappy as a result? It's b*llocks, Warnock wants to go and is causing upset, nowt to do with the board. Plus they also sanctioned Salgado when supposedly we were past the point of further recruits this transfer window. They don't seem to be the bad boys in all of this. Also, I really hope Sam said 'small town' and not 'small time' as that's really disrespectful. After he's gone all that's left is us and the board so if it comes to a slanging match I know whos side I'm on.
67splitscreen Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Recent comment from Sam, have expressed his concerns over the lack of goals, since the start of pre-season we have scored 10 and conceded 11. There are problems all over the pitch at the moment, players not good enough, players coming back from long injury and current injuries. We are all spent up and now in a situation where, like it or not we have to act. Warnock out, a CH and LB in, how much will be left over. ????? Benni linked to Ajax. can't say I would be upset if he does go, Yep i know he was our leading goal scorer and all that but that was in the past, he's time is coming, another season in and out of the squad is another few million off his value, anything around 5m take it and move on. During the time Sam has been in charge of the scouting network, he will no doubt have seen players that would fit the bill but at the time they where finically out of reach. Now it just maybe that with the balance of the Warnock money and the sale of Benni we could get in the players we so much need, another goal scorer and the CM we so much crave. Then again the bank may take the lot and we all hang ourselves and the club look for a new manager as Sam walks. January if we can get the walking wounded on the front line get shut for any reasonable offer, and replace if necessary.
Hughesy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Kalinic & NZonzi will have big impacts - im confident of that, and im sure Sam is too.
Bobby G Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 If anyone thinks a selling club like Ajax will spend 5 million Euros on a 32 year old striker, then they are kidding themselves. They are possibly interested cause they consider him to be in the range of 2-2.5m Euros at most.

Wasn't Warnock banging on about Rovers getting into Europe recently? Maybe its him Sam is fed up with and he could be being facetious about the situation.
broadsword Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Kalinic & NZonzi will have big impacts - im confident of that, and im sure Sam is too. These are two players that Sam says he doesn't want to bring into the team straight away, but rather he wants to blend them in. I'd suggest that this means he doesn't consider them to be "impact" players.

Why the hell shouldn't we expect somewhere in the region of 5 million when players of a similar age like Craig Bellamy go for a vastly higher fee. Personally, i think 5 million is a bargain for any buying club, but it makes sense for us to sell him.
Duff's Minder Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 All things considered this is the most depressing start to a season I can remember. 6 points behind Burnley in the league, one of our few remaining decent players wants out and described as a "small time club" by our own manager. I'm off on holiday tomorrow for two weeks, normally it would be good to get away from work but right now I'll be glad to ignore the football for a bit.
broadsword Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I know what you meant Bryan I was switching it around stating that the dingles are tossers! That's why I added the smiley! oooops, sorry
Hughesy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Reading this board has cheered me up though. Clear division of fan groupings. 1. The Fantastic, Super, Smashing Group - "everything is rosy - we'll turn Clarrots over 6-0, bring it on!" How about leading this group -Hughsey? 2. The Sam Can Overcome Group - "Remember last year - we were in a much worse situation simply 'cos Ince has was here then.” Any guesses? 9. The Completely Detatched from Reality Group. "Get Laudrup, get Ranieri.. Ancillotti…Fergurson….. " (Spencey7) Quality - Id say im more part of the 2nd group though. I dont for one minute think everything is perfect, but im not in a state of depression about our current situation. These are two players that Sam says he doesn't want to bring into the team straight away, but rather he wants to blend them in. I'd suggest that this means he doesn't consider them to be "impact" players. What he says and what happens are 2 different things. NZonzi has played 2 full games, Kalinic has played 75 mins already + more to follow tonight. NZonzi wont take long to make it so that its difficult to leave him out....

Surely there's better ways to achieve that?! I don't know how calling us a small time club (or town, its just as bad) helps to achieve anything positive.
nicko Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Rovers know the player they want and have opened talks. We can describe him as 'versatile.' If that deal can be agreed then Warnock goes... Hoping this saves for the 11 o'clocker.
TimmyJimmy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Rovers know the player they want and have opened talks. We can describe him as 'versatile.' Oh no. not Des O'Connor
