nicko Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 A versatile defender... Someone who can play full back and centre half.
dixonbrfc Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 A versatile defender... Someone who can play full back and centre half. im glad to be wrong nicko! lol
alexanders Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Why not bring in a left back who can also play centre half ie Givet? I love versitility. At least I am happy Do you think we will strengthen other areas?
bob fleming Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 A versatile defender... Someone who can play full back and centre half. Ben Ten Haim?
dixonbrfc Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Ben Ten Haim? never seen him play at full back! could be wrong
Billy Castell Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Rovers know the player they want and have opened talks. We can describe him as 'versatile.' If that deal can be agreed then Warnock goes... Hoping this saves for the 11 o'clocker. Oh Jesus, not Alan Smith!!!!!!!! I'd rather see Paul Warhurst return than him. If it is, then I'll question Sam's abilities and general sanity. I am assuming Nicko is hinting that the player has been ____ in a variety of positions, hence the inverted commas. I hope this mystery player is a left back, thus allowing Givet to play in central defence.
jrabrfc Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Got a horrible feeling it's going to be Pascal Chimbonda Beat me to it, Savage!!
JamieUK Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'd be happy to bring Lucas Neill back - would fit in across the back 4 and is still available on a free... (cue can of worms opening...!)
joey_big_nose Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Got a horrible feeling it's going to be Pascal Chimbonda Beat me to it, Savage!! Hmm. He is not a left back though is he. He would fit Sam's profile though otherwise. If we brought him in I imagine we would sign a left back too.
Guest ErinBrown Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 A versatile defender... Someone who can play full back and centre half. Lucas Neill? Edit: Damn JamieUK beat me to it. Personally im hoping we take a look at Javier Garrido. If it's not Neill im willing to bet it is Michael Ball. If it is i will cry...
Ricky Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Wonder if lucash has dropped his wage demands yet? Be an interesting choice
Roversider Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Got a horrible feeling it's going to be Pascal Chimbonda Chimbonda as a centre-back? Not what I would have thought. Good to have a player who covers both. I remain hopeful that we can get somebody in who adds to the team. Absolutely on the side of Sam when he complains about the transfer window as we are at the rotten end of the deal. Also telling Villa to put up or sod off in the next 24 hours is the only way forward. Otherwise no options at all. Got to have sympathy for the management, seems we're doomed to fighting others off. Not the first time though, seem to remember Shearer stitched us up with a last-minute departure.
alexanders Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I think I might have the name. Have we been linked to him earlier this summer Nicko?
modes98 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 A versatile defender... Someone who can play full back and centre half. Do you think this would then fulfill Sam's wish for the 2 positions to be covered and allow us to look at a other positions (CM!!!) or would we still be looking at a left back as well? edit: I wouldn't be to unhappy with Lucash. He is a good defender but always has that 1 really bad tackle or handball just waiting to escape.
rover6 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 This may sound silly but why do we not simply recall Gavin Gunning, who, by all reports, has been great for the reserves and good for Tranmere? Fair enough if we're signing a good player but if we're buying some no mark journeyman then I, for one, will not be happy.
CrazyIvan Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'm just glad that Dominic Matteo has retired!
Roversider Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,2...8-29437,00.html Lucas Neill would be a good shout, can play across back four, available on a free. Only problem would be money and history, otherwise ok in my mind.
T4E Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 If Lucas Neill comes back my handicap will be getting a right good seeing to.
Scotty Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 It would be worth getting Lucas Neill back just to see Revidge Blue explode into flames.
