How is Pedro Mendes doing at Rangers? He was pretty good for Portsmouth a while ago, and may be a reasonable short term injection of skill in midfield if he came on the cheap. Of course, he may have been injury prone and crap since I last saw him, as I pay more attention to Barnet than I do the SPL.

As for Benni, If we got a £2.5m+ offer, I'd be rather tempted to sell. He's probably on high wages for us, and there may be someone with more enthusiasm and drive about.

Just had a thought,

If we are in talks with signing a center back who can play fullback couldn't that be Distin?

Would be funny to get him in ahead of Villa while O'Neill is concentrating on Warnock!!

He's a Pompey player so no doubt as cheap as they come at the moment.

If Zurab is not good enough to be backup to what we have on the field, then surely the best thing to do is cash in on him now when he has a healthy contract. He is bound to be on relatively high wages being captain of his National team to?

Sell Zurab, Warnock and Benni and bring in a CB/LB/CM & CF. This would solve all our problems and give us far more going forward into the season.

In Sam's own words. If we are going to sell one of our better players, then he wants two good players to come in.

Instead of all this dordalling, we should do what has to be done asap.

Civelli/Javier Garrido (loan with a view?)/CM? & Tuncay.

We lost £8 million last season through poor league position, so we might as well spend what money we can garenteeing that doesn't happen again!

I wonder if what the reaction would be, if we signed Roberto Carlos. Salgado down the right, Carlos down the left. Los Galacticos at Ewood. ;) lol

At least it's not Sol Cambell, he's joined Sven's revolution.

Its more evolution than revolution. :D

Left back, hmm. It could be Bale, or even Shorey. I think Shorey might be easier to get, but i dont think that will happen because Villa might want to do a straight swap. I say move Gamst to left back, Diouf to left wing and Hoiliett to the right. With Emerton and Nzonzi in the midfield. *im waiting to be ripped apart for saying that* lol

Christ I hope not - they flew down!

Maybe Sams patience broke? It wouldn't surpise me if he read this "Supporters" website (not having a dig at you there O2G)

Wilfred Bouma- can play left back or centre half- thats my guess.

I would not like to see him play centre back

really he's a bloody left back brian!

he might have played cb 3 or 4 times in his career

why does everyone think of a player then decide if he comes to us he'll be playing a new position(SALGADO)

now i pesonally would'nt use my dishwasher to do my ironing

Rovers know the player they want and have opened talks.

We can describe him as 'versatile.'

If that deal can be agreed then Warnock goes...

Hoping this saves for the 11 o'clocker.

The lad that went to Newcastle from Wigan - Taylor wasnt it?!

Surely there's better ways to achieve that?! I don't know how calling us a small time club (or town, its just as bad) helps to achieve anything positive.

The whole comment was strange from Sam - if it was Ince saying those words you would just put it down as his stupid words. But Sam is a lot better at dealing with the media than Ince and is not known for daft comments. He is not one for coming out with adhoc statements. I am just suggesting there must be a reason for him saying what he said - unless he is just being honest.
