I can't see us signing a midfielder. Dunn, Grella, Emerton and Reid (albeit a minor setback) are all returning from injury. I know we'd all love an extra playmaker, but those guys have to earn their paypacket.

We are becoming to right backs what Man City are to strikers!

A very talented player who at Wigan he was absolutely superb. This is strange to say the least but according to Wiki he's a centre half and left back who normally plays at right back! He's lost his way in recent times and SA will prob be the best man to resurrect his career. Moving to Spurs has proved a massive set back for him and a move which he must regret ...... now where have we heard that before?

My only worry with some of these signings is that maybe there are one or two too many who are proven but ageing. BRFC will likley be their swan song. We made a massive profit on the Hughes era and when Samba goes the profits from Hughes will be complete and verifiable but in 2-3 years time who or how many will we be able to sell?

Well now there you go Theno! That's a whole lot better. You see you can do it when you try: A proper reasoned and sensible argument, tempered with just the right tone and completely without the usual trumpet blowing and boring remarks of "how right I am again". That's the way it should be so please keep it up. Oh and I nearly forgot: properly thought through as well.

I think also that Sam is aiming to get the balance right between bringing in a mixture of older and more experienced players and a smattering of young players with obvious latent talent. They will be for the future and will eventually blossom into excellent players and thus keep up the pool of "sell on at a profit" talent.

Re Herbergeeh: I know we have numbers, but they are always injured. I'd like to put one or two on the transfer list and get a player with creativity who doesn't have breadsticks for legs.

Who, though? No one will take on Reid at this point, surely, and we can't sell Andrews as he's one of just two midfielders at the club capable of playing all games. We want to keep David Dunn, Stephen N'Zonzi and Brett Emerton, so that leaves just Vincenzo Grella. Signed for £4m (ouch!) just a year ago, he is probably good enough for someone to take him on for free, but I doubt Sam will allow that.

I totally agree with you, although I'm having trouble seeing how it can be done.

Owen Garvan has been transfer listed by Ipswich, a good decent young attacking midfielder with potential.

Could get him for 200 - 500 thousand. Worth the risk in my opinion.

Why has he been listed? Is he upsetting the applecart down there or does keane not rate him ?

Keane didnt think so, he lambasted him in the press along with our one season wonder. Still, we know what a good man manager keane is.
