RovertheHill Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I think Chimbonda will be first choice RB. Robinson Chimbonda-Samba-Nelsen-Newbie Jacobsen-Zurab-Givet-Olsson Diouf-Dunn-Grella-Pedersen Nzonzi-Andrews-Reid Red is first choice, blue is back up. No way is Givet not first choice* *Ah, Bennyboy beat me to it!** **And SamtheLeedsRover

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 STOP SAYING THAT. WHO DO WE DROP?!?! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I'M TURNING INTO ABBEY. * For the record, I too think Gael is our best defender, but Samba is too good to drop, the newbie will be a specialist LB and Nelsen is the captain. So I don't see where he fits in.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 and GAA player but that story ain't for this thread. Has he been offered a deal by an AFL team I wonder?
Backroom DE. Posted August 26, 2009 Backroom Posted August 26, 2009 Re: Garvan Down here he is considered talented, but doesn't seem to have his head in the game. Still a young lad and can change/improve, but his attitude has been questioned. Keane clearly doesn't have the patience to nurture him and would rather move him on. Rumours have been flying around for a while (especially during the second half of last season) that his attitude was poor and he just didn't have the mental application to push his talents through to the next level. I don't think he's worth buying at this point in time as we have enough up-and-coming players in midfield. Better he sorts out his problems, if they exist, elsewhere (I do not think any premiership club will sign him, but who knows?).
Guest charlie1 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I think Chimbonda will be first choice RB. Robinson Chimbonda-Samba-Nelsen-Newbie Jacobsen-Zurab-Givet-Olsson Diouf-Dunn-Grella-Pedersen Nzonzi-Andrews-Reid Red is first choice, blue is back up. Givet as back up your having a laugh he is our best defender by miles. Also N'zonzi is quickly becoming the first name on the team sheet outstanding again last night. First choice; Chimbonda Samba Givet Newbie Jacobsen Nelsen Zurab Ollsen Diouf N'zonzi Dunn Pedersen Hoillet Andrews Grella Ollsen
rovers1995 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 And if the Newbie is the player discussed he will fit right in. Where has the newbie been discussed, I must have missed that. Do you know who the mystery player is?
JAL Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I think Chimbonda will be first choice RB. Robinson Chimbonda-Samba-Nelsen-Newbie Jacobsen-Zurab-Givet-Olsson Diouf-Dunn-Grella-Pedersen Nzonzi-Andrews-Reid Red is first choice, blue is back up. Nelsen is deadwood now Givet is replacing him in the popularity stakes.
Bobby G Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 The biggest disappointment I have is that we are selling our local/English players and the club.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Givet as back up your having a laugh he is our best defender by miles. Also N'zonzi is quickly becoming the first name on the team sheet outstanding again last night. Nelsen won't be dropped as long as he is captain, changing captain can disrupt the team especially if they are highly respected and there is a bit of a clique. Samba is a bit raw but he is the only defender with pace and should with the right development and experience get better. When Nelsen is back in the side i see Givet playing left back and this left back rumoured to be coming in will provide cover as will Olsson. The biggest disappointment I have is that we are selling our local/English players and the club. Just left with Robinson and Dunny now as first teamers?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Funny thing about the captain point there. Recently I've noticed we've had 2 new captains. Robbo and Andrews. Maybe Sam is giving potential captains a chance to prove themselves knowing Nelsen is going to be dropped?
nicko Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Nobody expects you to reveal a name, but do you know who the newbie is? I think I know who the first choice for that position is...and his club will sell...it depends how much and what he is being paid. This might move fast. Hopefully not before 11 pm. The way nicko keeps on overlooking Zurab intentionally tells me he may be on the way out. Zurab would have gone to Galatasaray in the summer if it had not gone wrong...he is available.
Bobby G Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Is the left back based abroad or in England nicko? Anything in terms of midfielders nicko?

Last week after signing Salgdo, bet JW was thinking TFFT I can get my feet up now until January.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I think Chimbonda will be first choice RB. Robinson Chimbonda-Samba-Nelsen-Newbie Jacobsen-Zurab-Givet-Olsson Diouf-Dunn-Grella-Pedersen Nzonzi-Andrews-Reid Red is first choice, blue is back up. Givet's probably our best player and you've ousted him!! Edit: sorry i've just seen your reply. But still IMO Givet must start at centre back - the guy's immense.
roversnick Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Zurab would have gone to Galatasaray in the summer if it had not gone wrong...he is available. i don't understand why zurab is overlooked by everybody including rovers he is usually a decent dependable player
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Somerset: As I've repeatedly said, I know he is. But I don't see who gets dropped. Offer some alternatives? Anyone?
Guest charlie1 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I think the left back is Garrido from City. Good player.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Somerset: As I've repeatedly said, I know he is. But I don't see who gets dropped. Offer some alternatives? Anyone? Drop Samba or Nelsen - preferrably Nelsen. I know he's our captain but Givet can have such an influence at centre half.
spencey7 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Panic buys here we come! Imagine we hadn't got Portsmouth to find our "star striker" for us... Who is God's name would we have ended up with as our tentpole signing?? ...Nathan Ellington?
super_arran Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Funny thing about the captain point there. Recently I've noticed we've had 2 new captains. Robbo and Andrews. Maybe Sam is giving potential captains a chance to prove themselves knowing Nelsen is going to be dropped? Robbo was captain because Nelsen was injured and "Our Keith" was captain because Nelsen was injured and Robinson wasn't playing. I think you're reading too much into it
nicko Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Last week after signing Salgdo, bet JW was thinking TFFT I can get my feet up now until January. To be fair, Sam said that was the end of it too... But this is the transfer window, so expect the unexpected.
Ricky Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Im guessing Shorey, the reason it could be quick is because we are talking to Villa already about Warnock
Sparky Marky Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 The biggest disappointment I have is that we are selling our local/English players and the club. Spot on.
nicko Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Spot on. If a player wants to go and you get good money for him and replace him with two new faces - and a profit - then he could come from Mars.
