Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 LEFT BACK...not getting any confirmation on the guy I thought it was...but still think it is this geezer...because he ticks so many boxes. Could we be seeing Jose Enrique in a Blackburn shirt?

Jan Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Your posts are crackers... Ignore time... So STOP BLOODY QUOTING HIM. Some of us are already trying to ignore him.
The Rover of Finland Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Huge disappoitment if it´s Michael Ball like someone guessed. Back to the days when Michael Gray was our left back.
67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 That must be around 3.5m of Warnocks money gone now, 1.5m, 30k a week ????? agents Etc. Not much left for a LB like Enrique, and definitely not a MF.
Guest charlie1 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 "Fine football"? We clearly have very, VERY different opinions on what that means. Several reports from this very forum acknowledge that we played the long-ball last night - against a League One side in poor form. If you're not prepared to allow your players to adopt a attacking, passing approach in that game... Hoilett did well, as did Nzonzi. I dare say even Andrews may have gotten pass marks. But they were all playing at the level from whence they came (German 2nd Division, French 2nd Division and League Two, respectively). We know we can't rely on Dunn and yes - Givet looks a great player. Imagine where we'd be without him. Incase you haven't noticed I'm not the only dissenting voice against Allardyce on this forum - let alone amongst the wider support. His "poor me" attitude, arrogant nature and hideous, outdated tactics are an embarassment to our club. If you don't think like this - fine. But accept that I do. His transfer dealings have been "peculiar" to say the least. I don't believe he's spent the limited funds available in the proper way, and would suggest he is stark-raving bonkers in failing to acknowledge our desperate need for a central-midfield player. (Not to mention his inability to accept Keith Andrews' glaring deficiencies at this level, which are obvious to each and every Blackburn fan on planet Earth.) I don't equate "supporting" my club with standing by and watching it being driven into the ground, which is exactly what's happening at the moment. I don't have to swallow the crap being served by Sam Allardyce, and neither do you. Same old crap coming from you. Why don't you support someone else you sad bitter little man.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 CHIMBONDA...having his medical...breathing easier on that one...fee around £1.5 million. WARNOCK...I think that is about to happen too...not sure of fee...would suggest £7 million and rising to £8 million. LEFT BACK...not getting any confirmation on the guy I thought it was...but still think it is this geezer...because he ticks so many boxes. Amazingly busy all over the place right now. So many people trying to deals, so little time. I know it's because clubs don't want to sell their players and as things get closer to the window they realise things have to start happening and perhaps the prices drop but it's almost as though deadline day catches managers by surprise at the moment, they suddenly realise it's about to go and start actually pursuing targets they've been watching for weeks if not months. I wonder if the transfer window actually solves the problem it was brought in for. Hopefully the left back can be less than 2m and it gives us some more to spend, saying that though would 3-4m improve our midfield considering what it's likely to cost, perhaps a loan deal could be done if someone becomes available. Any news nicko if Ajax are considering bidding for Benni or was that just speculation, do you think we would entertain a bid so late in the window or given our current injury/form problems it might be too many changes at once. Benni is so talented but just wonder if it might be our last chance to cash in on him. Anything around 5m would surely be worth considering.
Parsonblue Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I don't have to swallow the crap being served by Sam Allardyce, and neither do you. I actually enjoy the football we are playing at the moment. You don't bother going to Gillingham but you are an expert on how we played last night. Whereas those of us who go don't have a right to voice an opinion unless we are attacking Sam and moaning about the long ball football - of which we played very little last night. There's simply no point trying to have a reasoned debate with someone who has adopted a similarly blinkered approach that Vinjay use to have on these boards. You continue to support the club with your snide comments and I'll continue to support the club by going to matches and supporting the team. Clearly, there is no point debating with you. Time to opt for Ignore like so many others have done.

nicko Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Do you think any of the big 4 will be making any signings. Man U may have a surprise dabble...Liverpool need to but do they have dough?...Chelsea probably not...Arsenal may pick up Chamakh at the death [just a hunch].
John Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Knee jerk time possibly, but seems like we have had little strategy whatsoever in this transfer window. I accept Sam's job is difficult because of limited finance but still... Signing 3 players for the right back role. Remember thinking a couple of years back that it would be great to have a specialist right back, but now we have the luxury of 3 ageing players who can fill that role. It has been suggested that Salgado may play central midfield, but if Tugay/Vogel don't have 'the legs' for that position, then neither does he. Some people seem to give Sam the benefit of the doubt whatever he does, but I think he has got himself into a muddle here.
rovgers Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I know it's 'off topic' but how do you ignore a member? I'm fed up of reading the crap from people like spend7 and waggs! I was speaking to a Sunderland and a spurs fan at the weekend and they were more encouraging then those toshers.
Veevs Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Man U may have a surprise dabble...Liverpool need to but do they have dough?...Chelsea probably not...Arsenal may pick up Chamakh at the death [just a hunch]. Not sure if ManU would be a huge suprise.. they are not exactly firing on all cylinders.. and Anderson appears to of fallen out with Fergie.. Would love us to land a sneaky last min loan deal for a midfielder, but christ we only have until Tuesday next week... still allot can happen in 5 days. Really curious how much leeway we have on our wage bill at the moment.. there have been so many moves that its a bit mental. I am guessing LB + Chimbo would match Warnocks wage or even just go beyond it, and as the board don't like using transfer money as part of the wage bill I am guessing no attacking midfielder. Best case scenario for us I guess is Benni out and a midfielder and striker(on loan) in as replacements. Also concerned that with Portsmouth have now finally been taken over, we could see some scary last min action there.

It has been suggested that Salgado may play central midfield, but if Tugay/Vogel don't have 'the legs' for that position, then neither does he. How do you know whether he has the legs or not? At 33 Tugay still had the legs, that's why he kept playing for us until he was 37. Vogel was a freebie gamble much like Salgado, only he didn't come with the same pedigree - and didn't turn out too good for us. I think Salgado can do a job in midfield but he won't be a Hierro, I think he'll resemble Lassana Diarra or Claude Makelele more, winning the ball and leaving it for others (wooohooo Andrews!) to distribute. At this point we're only speculating, let's wait and see whether or not he has the legs and what kind of role Sam wants to use him in before passing judgment.

Not much left for a LB like Enrique, and definitely not a MF. I'm guessing we a actually paid warnock a weekly wage so don't see why chimbonda's wages should come out of his fee. If we get £8m for warnock and pay £1.5 for chimbonda there should be plenty of money left. I'm guessing the two players will be on very similar wages.

Agree, but obviously can only speculate at this stage. Not seen him play live, but last few times I have watched Salgado (as much as he is a nutter), he looked fairly slow/sluggish and not very dynamic. Think it would be difficult for him to play in a 4 in midfield, that is what I meant by not having the legs. Overally, transfer policy just seems a bit scattered.

Parsonblue Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Overally, transfer policy just seems a bit scattered. Fortunately, the only person who has to understand the transfer policy is the manager. Clearly he has a plan and is bringing in players who will be able to execute that plan. Just because a player who is signed is known for a particular position doesn't mean that Sam sees them in that role. At Bolton he moved people to incorporate them in the system he was using. I think the 4-2-3-1 system that we used last night would enable him to accomodate people in different roles.
thenodrog Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 This really is the most annoying window ever. As an example, in the last hour I have found three players who are all talking to more than one club...with managers changing their minds, players clowning around and agents not helping.Joke. I'd be gobsmacked if that is unusual just days before the transfer window slams shut. If it isn't the norm I think it will soon become it.

Speaking to some Bolton fans recently, apparently he bought players in unnecessarily at times, clogging up their wage bill. I do rate Sam, but just find some of the moves this summer a bit odd....
John Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Is Michael Ball still without a club? Released by Man City I think. By the way, Stoke were recently strongly linked with a move for Garrido.
Steve Moss Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Is Michael Ball still without a club? Is he still injured? I thought he had a long term knee problem requiring a prolonged recovery. We have enough perpetually injured players.
JonnyH Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Weren't we linked with Konchesky last window? Renewed interest?
