Knee jerk time possibly, but seems like we have had little strategy whatsoever in this transfer window. I accept Sam's job is difficult because of limited finance but still...

Signing 3 players for the right back role. Remember thinking a couple of years back that it would be great to have a specialist right back, but now we have the luxury of 3 ageing players who can fill that role. It has been suggested that Salgado may play central midfield, but if Tugay/Vogel don't have 'the legs' for that position, then neither does he.

Some people seem to give Sam the benefit of the doubt whatever he does, but I think he has got himself into a muddle here.

Still don't believe that about Vogel. He went from doing a steady job to being completely outcast in just six months? I suspect he was a bad egg during the Ince regime, and the mud stuck when Sam took over.

Fortunately, the only person who has to understand the transfer policy is the manager. Clearly he has a plan and is bringing in players who will be able to execute that plan. Just because a player who is signed is known for a particular position doesn't mean that Sam sees them in that role. At Bolton he moved people to incorporate them in the system he was using. I think the 4-2-3-1 system that we used last night would enable him to accomodate people in different roles.

At last, some common sense!!

Man U may have a surprise dabble...Liverpool need to but do they have dough?...Chelsea probably not...Arsenal may pick up Chamakh at the death [just a hunch].

I'm suprised United haven't gone after a central midfielder, they do look to be lacking something there, but they seem to be being linked with Robben more and more. It's a strange old game.

This blind reverance genuinely scares me.

When Alex Ferguson makes odd decisions, he gets called on it by the fans and the media. The same is true of every manager in the entire world. Some on here seem to believe Allardyce should be immune from such scrutiny. Sorry - ANY scrutiny.

If Allardyce's transfer policy has any form of logic then he should come out and explain it to us, because the tide is turning against him.

Sorry to break off from this enthralling discussion but I was wondering if the poster of the quote above could state his source.

I remember reading it and dug it up because with City having signed Sylvinho to cover Bridge it could now be more relevant.

Sorry saw this the other day and forgot to reply......It wouldnt be fair to say who told me but my info is usually spot on, Nicko will hopefully vouch for that.

I'll say he has a close connection with the squad and told me he was being watched as Villa were sniffing around stevie.

Whether the situation has changed or not.........I dont know! ;)

When has a manager explained his transfer policy? Sam will be judged on results, if they are not acceptable then his transfer policy will be questioned.

Nice try by the way on the last bit, Mods can we have a poll as to whether or not Sam still has the backing of Rovers fans, he has done enough for the club so far to earn more than TWO games. Two players (EHD and Givet) have both been successes thus far, yet another example of why we should back Sam.

Id go as far to say if it wasnt for Sam we would be sat in the championship with minus points! :o

Dont say that Spencer would like us all to believe that any manager other than Ince could have done what Sam did!!

If we sign Chimbonda then it will be interesting to see how Sam fits all the players, how can you judge transfers 1. Before they happen 2. Without seeing how Sam is going to use the players!

He will have the backing of the majority of fans, however it is fair and valid to question his transfer decisions. Fergie is questioned, Wenger is questioned...

He has me scratching my head to be fair after signing three right backs and not investing in our weakest area of the squad. Going to be interesting to see how it all pans out.

2 million pounds will get you nothing in today's market.

Tell that to O'Neill. He sells a left sided England player for 12m and expects to replace him with a fringe left sided England player for double what you consider to be nothing herbergeeh.

I've always thought highly of him too - we're signing a very good player here. I guess his versatility is they key thing, too - maybe fit him in at left back?

I noticed this some time ago. Charged with bringing the wages down / reducing numbers without weakening the squad it appears that SA is signing (and indeed values) players who can play with quality in a number of positions. Also explains why he was so p1ssed off by the Warnock situation.

'Shock' as in surprise that the interest was back on because it had been off the radar for weeks...

It's a newspaper term, which some of these tw*ats would know if they had ever been able to keep a job on a newspaper.

Still, it keeps them off the streets.

Alan......... Don't get the hump and resort to bragging about being right in the past cos

1. Criticism must go with the territory in your profession.

2. Fife Rover will call you a clever so and so.

Any idea what dos Santos would cost? I see he's frustrated at WHL and wants to stay in England. Does anyone know anything about Bamba?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...mane-Bamba.html

We really need someone with some attacking flair, but I doubt we'll sign someone like that.

Looked great in the Gold Cup this summer. They'd be smart to loan him out for a year or two, as he should come good.

11 o'clock and all is well...what a good film Taken is - first DVD I've seen in ages...and Spurs ht/ft was candy from a bookie.

Anyway.

LEFT BACK...I hear it's Andy Taylor at Middlesbrough who is top of the wish list...however it has not moved on as quickly as expected...so we shall see what tomorrow brings. I don't think it could be Michael Ball and I checked Garrido a while back and was told it's not him...Bamba went missing at Hibs tonight, but he has gone home to Paris for two days. Enrique is also a bit expensive.

Remember the target is [a] cheap and willing to be a reserve.

Taylor ticks boxes as he is England's u-21 left back and young [obviously]. It could depend on the price. I am told it might be £2 million but that could be reduced. From my calls today I found out Boro would sell him. So it's up to negotiation.

As you know Chimbonda is coming and Warnock is going.
