brfcshabba Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 New 100 metres world record by Usain Bolt - He was magnificent. 9.58 and had the time to look around as well Even Tyson Gay was 9.71 but was at least a metre behind Bolt.

T4E Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Bolt is a phenom - one of those athletes that comes along once every 20 years and it totally untouchable in his chosen sport. Its an absolute pleasure to see him in action.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I saw the semi finals when he only ran for about 20 metres and still did it somewhere around 9.7. This guy is insane, did he actually try in the final? Still think with his height and pace he could do a job for us upfront, we must be able to pay him more than he gets for sprinting
Presty On Tour Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Well done Jessica Ennis Bolt will get quicker imo. Isn't prime age about 28?
American Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Was watching it and noticed how much longer his legs are than Tyson's. Gives him a huge advantage from the get-go. Amazing performance, actually looked up what time it was being run so I wouldn't miss it. And agree with Presty about the British chick. Yummy!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Bolt thinks his limit is 9:40 I'm sure he said. Doubt he'll hit it but he will almost certainly break his record a few more times. If he works at it he could put up a score that will never be beaten.
JAL Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Bolt thinks his limit is 9:04 I'm sure he said. Doubt he'll hit it but he will almost certainly break his record a few more times. If he works at it he could put up a score that will never be beaten. 9.40
T4E Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Plays up to cameras too much for my liking. Give over. He doesnt play up to it enough.
BuckyRover Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 He is one the few people who can legimately "play up" to the cameras. Amazing
brfcshabba Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Reaction Michael Johnsons reaction - I don't know what Colin Jackson is doing half way through
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Well spotted. He's not that fast! Whenever i've seen him race, he always seems to stroll to victory recording some amazing unbelievable times. If i'm honest, it wouldn't surprise me if he did run sub 9 one day.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I know what you mean, and he always seems to slow down before the finish line too. I genuinely think if he maximises his potential and sets a full time, he'll be unbeaten for at least 50 years.

I genuinely think if he maximises his potential and sets a full time, he'll be unbeaten for at least 50 years. I am sure he is awesome but at 73 he is gonna slow a little bit for sure?
Exiled_Rover Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Was watching it and noticed how much longer his legs are than Tyson's. Gives him a huge advantage from the get-go. Amazing performance, actually looked up what time it was being run so I wouldn't miss it. And agree with Presty about the British chick. Yummy! His legs are a disadvantage for the start, but after that the longer stride pattern is a big advantage.
Billy Castell Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 If he's clean (any news on those 4 Jamaicans who failed a drugs test a while ago?) he is what athletics needs. The showmanship is all part of the package, and he is simply phenomenal. Who is to say he won't try to win the 100, 200, relay and 400 metres in 2012? A tall order, but the way he goes, it is seeming like anything is possible.
bob fleming Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I am sure he is awesome but at 73 he is gonna slow a little bit for sure? He'll be just a tad quicker than Benni I reckon.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 His legs are a disadvantage for the start, but after that the longer stride pattern is a big advantage. Why do we rely on Theo Walcott with his little legs for pace when we've got a hidden sprinter on the bench for England. We need to put Peter Crouch on the right wing. We've all seen him slow off the block but until now we've assumed he's just slow. Infact he's taller than Bolt so technically makes his stride bigger. Peter Crouch could be Britain's answer to achieve gold in London 2010.
Billy Castell Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Crouch would definately get gold in London 2010, as he'd be the only one running
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 D'oh! At least we can claim we've won something in 2010 when we lose to penalties again in the World Cup QF
Exiled_Rover Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 That sounds like a dastardly plan. Let's tell everyone the wrong location in 2012 then clean up in the medals table.
Presty On Tour Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Caster Semenya is rather a sensitive subject. What do people think?
T4E Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Caster Semenya is rather a sensitive subject. What do people think? 1703: Some incredible news breaking in Berlin - The IAAF has asked the South African athletics federation to conduct a gender verification test on 18-year-old 800m favourite Caster Semenya, due to run at 2035 BST, amid concerns she does not meet the requirements to compete as a woman. "It's a difficult scenario," reflects BBC commentator Steve Cram on BBC Two. "The IAAF cannot do anything unless one of the other competing nations lodges a protest." Presumbly if proven legal she will change her name to Caster Semen-no?
adopted scouser Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 New 100 metres world record by Usain Bolt - He was magnificent. 9.58 and had the time to look around as well He was checking to see if Salgado was still chasing him
