sambo
I think if Ruud Gullit speaks before Salgado has chance again, Salgado is going to destroy him. Asking for trouble.

Flopsy
Did anyone else enjoy him being put in his place? He must have thought he was the big 'I am' when he came on after a decade at Real Madrid, only for the Blackburn End to question if he was Tugay in disguise. Gold. Put in his place? Why, the only people bigging him up was us lot on the other thread. Unless you think it was him posting. But if you want to be a vindictive oik, go ahead, he knows where you live
T4E
I cannot recall a year where our marque signings were considered unfit for duty a month into the season. RSC, Benni both hit the ground running, so why we must accept that a bloke who cost 6 million and one who spent 10 years at Real Madrid need mollycoddling is beyond me. Neither Benni nor RSC were out of contract, and as I recall both signed much earlier in the Summer than Salgado did and thus got time pre season to get to grips with the rest of the squad etc. Salgado signed after the season has started, and as much as I'd like to see him playing in my opinion Lars Jacobsen has been absolutely outstanding and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet at the moment. Sam has done an excellent job with the defence this Summer.

rebelmswar
Wonder if he was brought in for PR values as well as his massive amount of experience. Either way him talking us up can only be seen as a good thing. Thanks for the info by the way, I do miss Sky Sports quite a bit.
nellybc
when they were talking about the madrid game last night he kept referring to them as we, which was a little worrying at first. When richard keys asked him about conceding goals from set pieces in spain he just basically answered we would score 2 he was then asked if he had practised set pieces much at blackburns training, his answer was that not only do we fight for every point, we fight for every ball. Gotta love the fella

Sam has done an excellent job with the defence this Summer. And remember all the moaning when Sam signed Jacobsen? "A reject who couldn't get a game for Everton, on a free, too old, always injured etc etc". All these things were said and more. The manager is paid a lot of money to know more than we do and is performing.
Hughesy
Managers buys so far - Diouf - Success Givet - Stunning success NZonzi - Success - very promising Jacobsen - Quality freebie Chimbonda - 2 games gone, looking very good. Di Santo - Not had enough of a chance yet to prove what he's got Kalinic - As above Salgado - As above
thenodrog
hughsey you can put a plus to anything lardarse does, salgaldo is a waste off money Wrong waggy. Your anti - allardyce bile has just rebounded in your face again ......... If Salgado turns out to be a waste of money and hardly plays then it's cos Jacobson, EHD, Nzonzi and Chimbonda weren't. Obvious to a blind man on a galloping horse to anyone who can think things through logically don't you agree?

Wild Irish Rover
Whoa boy.... have you read the script? THIS IS THE PREMIER LEAGUE - NOT DIVISION ONE OF THE FOOKIN COMBINATION Please, please someone tell me this guy has more on board than has been woefully demonstrated this afternoon at Goodison. Out of position (loads) nutmegged (several times), slow to get back (constantly). Here's reality for you Mr Salgado - if you ply your trade in the PREMIER LEAGUE you need to do more than live on your reputation - you need to BE YOUR REPUTATION, As a second string club we cannot afford to carry dead weight. Michael, for all your track record and reputation, you were a large DEAD WEIGHT today.. Shape up or ship out!
John
It was a shocking performance and you would hope he can only get better! However, he has never been that quick, so lack of pace is always going to prove a problem for him in the PL. For me, Jacobsen should start when back fit, with Emerton as back up right back if necessary.
T4E
I fit it incredible to think Sam actually signed him to play RB. Surely he had a different plan for him?

I can't see where else he'll play. Edit: Tugs' reply beat me to it.
Tris
How anyone who saw Salgado get roasted by Bolton's reserves on Monday night could consider he was ready to start in the Premier League 6 days later is beyond me - especially when the ready made alternative is Emerton and he was apparently fit enough to make the squad. Ditto Kalinic. He clearly is a mile off being ready for this league (he can't even control a moving football from what I've seen so far) - so why did he come on instead of Benni McCarthy? Are the people who said they saw the manager at Leigh last Monday sure it was him?
RibbleValleyRover
All i can say is i hope his performance shocker was a one off otherwise we have wasted the money (wages) on a past it defender, when it could have been spent on a new midfielder.
