DP
So it's confirmed Jacobsen was injured then? A small full back with no pace. Could easily read chocolate fireguard!

Blueandwhitemike
In the first half he played right in front of the away fans and he looked awful. He was slow, weak in the air, out of position, easily beaten, he gave away the free kick for the first goal, and he gave little on the ball. A pretty shocking performance and I felt he undermined the whole defence. I never really noticed him when he played for Real so I can't say what he was like compared to then, but he has got to improve a hell of a lot to be even decent. You can't write him off completely on one game but I'd be very surprised if he became a success. Fortunately Jacobsen has looked good in every game. Shabani
Unless he improves drastically he will go down as one of our most rubbish signings in recent history At a club that has Chimbonda, Jacobson and Emerton who are all very good right backs and walk into a lot of good teams, we sign an aging player whos natural postion, is, yes, right back and get rid of a more than decent back up centre back. What we're left with is 3 CB's, one of which is forever getting injured, and give away at least 30k a week in wages to him.

waggy
Wrong waggy. Your anti - allardyce bile has just rebounded in your face again ......... If Salgado turns out to be a waste of money and hardly plays then it's cos Jacobson, EHD, Nzonzi and Chimbonda weren't. Obvious to a blind man on a galloping horse to anyone who can think things through logically don't you agree? galloping horses it maybe, but just tell me why we wasted 40k a week on this loser again
mellison24
galloping horses it maybe, but just tell me why we wasted 40k a week on this loser again because it has worked in the past for Sam (Hierro, Djorkaeff, Okocha etc) and may yet still work! Remember Ooijer? He was awful until after he broke his leg......you guys know what to do!!

DeadlyDirk
galloping horses it maybe, but just tell me why we wasted 40k a week on this loser again Well I'll give him a bit more time than you have but on his debut performance I'm inclined to agree with you. I won't be writing any player off after 1 game and a reserve outing or two but he certainly needs to pick his game up and given his age he needs to do it quickly. I think 35-40k is going to be about accurate, people don't leave Madrid and then suddenly join other clubs for pittance, it's not like he waited around long after being released to find a deal before the season started, I'm sure he could have got other offers in Europe and Spain especially on a decent wage. Okay his will to win and dressing room prescense not to mention his attitude on the training ground could be beneficial to other players but we could have kept Tugay to do that on less than 40k. The jury is out so far but the case is far from being closed, let's give him ten or so games at least before writing off someone with his CV. Although saying that you wouldn't have expected that kind of performance at the weekend from an academy player, let alone a top experienced player with 10 years at Madrid and 50 odd caps for Spain, I think a lot of us are so dissappointed because we expected so much better. Manc Rover
galloping horses it maybe, but just tell me why we wasted 40k a week on this loser again He's anything but a loser, man!!! He's won countless trophies and will come good. He was only playing because of the Jacobsen situation FFS!!!! Just wait until he gets match fit and shows us the player he is. If someone who's won everything at club level is a loser then can you define a winner for us?
tonygreenbank
Is it not beyond the realms of possibility that he actually might improve his form and fitness in the coming weeks? Is it not true also that he himself may realise he had a poor debut and do something about it? He has played one game and already the knives are out. This board is becoming the modern equivalent of the Salem Witch Trials. Salgado,Andrews,Kalinic,Ollson,Allardyce..........where will it end? He's not match fit for a start and whatever you say the Spanish league is totally different from the Premier League. You talk tosh.

This board is becoming the modern equivalent of the Salem Witch Trials. Salgado,Andrews,Kalinic,Ollson,Allardyce..........where will it end? Personally I will give a BIT of time. But due to his previous experience it should NOT be long until he is at his best. If he fails to meet that before Christmas, then Sam has made a right plonker of himself. It seems Jones has done good tonight - did he not do the same against colchester? Maybe a player worth wathcing. Also if Robinson gets injured we have a good replacement in Brown.
