G Somerset Rover Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Is Salgado a dirty player then? Is he a bit hot headed? I watch a fair bit of Spanish football and he's certainly competitive and with this collects his fair share of yellow's. I wouldn't say he goes over the top though - he's just incredibly determined to win. A few fellow pro's have described him as a 'hard man'. A great signing IMO. Welcome to Ewood Michel.

Hughesy Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Happy he is here - proven class at the top level, just hope the legs havent gone at his age. Well done to JW for making it happen!
Perth_Rover Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hopefully this will be a good signing for us.
alexanders Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Nicknamed Il Due[1] (two in Italian), he is known for his combative tackling (LABORE) and attacking play (ARTE) He fits right in!
67splitscreen Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Well pleased with this signing! He will give a real boost to the squad and the fans! Well done, Sam, JW and the Board!! I imagine that is the females now happy after the loss of RSC.
roversmum Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hmm. Wonder if he'd like to come round for tea?
imy9 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I remember reading a story about 10 years ago when McManaman was with Real, he described Salgado as one of the toughest men he had ever met and said that the first words he HAD to learn in Spanish were from Salgado and they were "cover me"! Looking forward to seeing him running up and down the touch line in a Rovers shirt.
Amo Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hmm. Wonder if he'd like to come round for tea? And you a married woman.
tonyoz Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Salgado on back of this years home shirt. Fact. Nicko - please can we have a midfielder? Two great ideas! Same for me, I have a month to decide which shirt goes back to Phuket, should it be Salgado or ILL DUE, what does it mean again. I forget. I'd go Salgado, the other looks like you are ready for the infirmary!
S15 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I remember reading a story about 10 years ago when McManaman was with Real, he described Salgado as one of the toughest men he had ever met and said that the first words he HAD to learn in Spanish were from Salgado and they were "cover me"! Yeah that was nout to do with football though.
waynerovers Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Well done to John Williams for backing Big Sam
tcj_jones Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Yeah that was nout to do with football though. The way people are talking, you'd think he was a psychopath! What is it he's done to get this rep? Lol.
S15 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I reckon Salgardo will demand the number 9 shirt, just to show who's really boss around here now. I also like to think he'll be given the armband, before he has to resort to violence.
S15 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 The way people are talking, you'd think he was a psychopath! What is it he's done to get this rep? Lol. Did you see Juninho at the 1998 World Cup? No, you didn't.
RIML Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Fantastic signing. Whoever says he's past it, take a look at who won the 2009 PFA Player of the Year award and he's almost 36. Salgado has a couple more years in him yet, Sam is an effin legend. To bring someone like Salgado to a "small club" like Blackburn when he's played for one of the biggest clubs in the world if not the biggest club, is just genius. Sky Sports said he expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing in England for Blackburn, how does Sam pull off these signings
Kelbo Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Happy he is here - proven class at the top level, just hope the legs havent gone at his age. Well done to JW for making it happen! From an extremely, and I do mean extremely reliable source, his legs havent gone!!
Hughesy Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 No 27 isnt he? I hope he is the hard nut people are making out.....
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Salgado....oooooooh Salgado....oooooooh He comes from sunny Spain Beware he causes pain
RIML Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Salgado....oooooooh Salgado....oooooooh He comes from sunny Spain Beware he causes pain Bolton used to sing "he came from Real Madrid, he didn't cost a quid" to Fernando Hierro. It would work but can't say I'll be singing it
waynerovers Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 In the Rovers Player interview Salgado calls Blackburn an historic club. Nice
67splitscreen Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Allegedly Sam has aquired him a rental property in highercroft for a couple of years.
Kelbo Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Allegedly Sam has aquired him a rental property in highercroft for a couple of years. Someone told me Whalley Range
The Rover of Finland Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Very happy with this signing! He will help us a lot. Thanks Big Sam to force JW to make this happen.
Aberdeen Blue Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Welcome Michel. Seen him play several time for Real at the Bernabeu over the past 5 or 6 years and he is still a class act. Will be interested to see where Sam plays him but wherever I think we can expect "commitment" from the lad - he does not take prisoners! I am sure Mr.Wenger is going to love him
