Miker
I think it's amazing that Sam managed to replace Ooijer (who was probably on fairly big wages and pretty average) with both Jacobsen and Salgado on a free.

LeChuck
Both are miles better than Ooijer at right back as well. I suppose the advantage of Ooijer was that he was a natural centre back so offered an option in that position, although he was quite error prone whenever he played there. Miker
Think it was £5m Bryan as this is the shortfall in wages we need to make up this season. As for the credibility thing I'd argue Salgado is just another on a long list of players Allardyce has wasted our precious £££s on buying. None of them have proved to be worthwhile to date, with I suppose, the exception of N'zonzi. I wouldn't give Allardyce any credit for signing decent footballers. Who hasn't proven worthwhile? Iceman
I know this might be a stupid suggestion, bu Jacobsen at centre back for Nelsen perhaps. If Sam is going to give Salgado more of a go at right back, then where does this leave Givet? Imo, i would rather have Givet or Jacobsen alongside Samba. Robbo Salgado Samba Givet Chimbo Emerton Nzonzi Dunn Hoiliett Benni Kalinic
mellison24
I think Jacobsen would make a good DEPUTY centre back, because he isn't exactly the paciest is he?
sparkspakespoke
Givet and Samba at centre back is the most balanced pairing we have. They should be starting together, harsh as that is on the Admiral, we need to be startingo ur best players
Miker
No way Nelsen is getting dropped until AFTER the World Cup.
Amo
Plenty of bite, but he isn't a right winger. I would like to see him centre-midfield, although we already have defensive options there with Nzonzi and (occasionally) Grella.
Hughesy
Didnt play bad today - seemed up for it - but he hasnt got the pace to play as an attacking winger..... But Diouf & MGP must surely know they are out of favour if a Defender is getting picked ahead of them!
RibbleValleyRover
Thought he was rather average but better than some players today. Going off the evidence so far I still think his signing is a complete waste of money and would have been better spent on a midfielder at the beginning of the season or in January. Exiled_Rover
Put him in the centre - he can pass and tackle. He doesn't have the pace for the flanks, but I can see him doing ok alongside N'Zonzi.
Hughesy
He couldnt do any worse than Julie Pointer Andrews anyway!

Yep, I can't understand Sams reluctance to pair them together in front of the back four. Perhaps when Emerton is fit to play right side we might see it. John
Said it before the game, and we know this already, but he is too slow. Bale just had to run straight and he could pass him with relative ease - was calling for Emerton to go in at right back yesterday, as at least he has more energy. In Serie A he would be useful but you need more pace in the Premier League.
Bobby G
He was found out yesterday. I wouldve switched Emo with him for the rest of the first half once I saw the problem to avoid Bale getting past him every single time.

tony gale's mic
He was doing a pretty decent job in the run up to the Spurs game but it was a big mistake putting him up against the pace of Bale. When he's up against someone with average pace he can still be an asset - his tackling is still very good and his distribution solid. However against someone with pace due to his legs he can't even get near them - we might aswell have a 70 year old playing there.

Hughesy
Whilst his pace was found out against bale, Emerton did very little to help him. I thought Emerton looked like he didnt want to be there.
Gav
Playing Salgado at fullback was tactically inept for me, you can’t blame him for getting the run around. I think he’d make a good solid defensive midfield player, but not sure Allardyce sees him in that role, or any role in the middle of the park.
