tony gale's mic
Mud sticks. Especially when you voluntarily cake yourself in it. Sam might not be the world's greatest manager by any stretch of the imagination and probably shouldn't have made that comment, but when you see the amount of people on here who think that 4-4-2 is the answer to world peace and that 4-5-1 is automatically bad, it would make Paul Ince look like a bloody expert. And the fact is compared to the fans of course he's an expert - he's managed successfully in this league before and isn't doing such a bad job this time round. Bit of a tactless comment to make but hardly inaccurate...
Backroom Tom Posted March 21, 2010 Backroom Share Posted March 21, 2010 Well done today, after a torrid time last week he barley put a foot wrong today. His reading of the game is superb.
tcj_jones
He was excellent today. He's been getting progressively better as the season's gone on and I think last week was just a blip.
gumboots
He was excellent today. He's been getting progressively better as the season's gone on and I think last week was just a blip. Not even a blip in that it wasn't that he didn't know how to deal with Bale - he was just physically incapable of keeping up with him and got little support either from whoever should have cut out the crosses to Bale or whoever should have tracked back and helped Salgado out. I'm sure Allardyce did not intend to have him exposed to the pace we all know Spurs possess in that way.

Exactly....last week Salgado had zero support and Bale's pace was too much - however without the same pace yesterday, Salgado coped easily. Fantastic cross from the goal and seems to be improving every week. Also he seems to have the touch/ confidence on the ball that only top international players hold. rovgers
He played well against Chelsea, just a pity his legs can't keep up with his obvious footballing brain, which was spotlighted with his display against Bale. A great cross for the goal and Im sure his experience would have helped with Jones' debut.

den
He may be slow but I love this guy, his charge at the end was brilliant Keith didn't think so. He simply hoofed it into touch.
Backroom Tom Posted March 24, 2010 Backroom Share Posted March 24, 2010 That was horrendous, he really did just swing a leg at it when it came to him

neekoy
How could anyone have written him off, he and Kalanic are turning into right good signings
Mafioso
Dont know if its been mentioned yet but what exactly happened between him, diouf and dunn at half time ? The commentator said something about Dunn not receiving a pass. But would it warrant such a public display from the three (diouf im not surprised but the other two)
OJRovers
Big Mick was class last night. Reminds me of Tugay how he gets away with lack of pace by being clever but not so obvious so the ref gives a foul. Quality 'injury' last night too, took up about 4 minutes when we were running the clock down. Brilliant burst of speed when he was chasing the ball down then ran it down the line... only for Julie to hoof it into touch (which is why one of them has a cupboard full of medals and the other hasn't)

The commentator said something about Dunn not receiving a pass. But would it warrant such a public display from the three (diouf im not surprised but the other two) Ok lets clear it up now.... Diouf was peacemaker Dunn & Salgado were arguing on the pitch and there was 'abit of a scuffle' in the dressing room at half time too. It was something and nothing - and simply shows both players have passion - the sort of passion we need to see on Sunday!
4ever&ever
I can't remember the last time I saw a player for Rovers who charged a ball down like that and showed so much passion. The 'expert' was right to take his time with Salgado because against Chelsea & Brum it looks to be paying off.

RibbleValleyRover
where's this scuffle business come from? Sam laughs off row Sam: "They were having a bit of a tussle in the dressing room, but we just calmed it down and said, 'look, we'll sort it out after the game". "I don't think it was anything to do with the goal, I think it was more to do with something else, perhaps defensively what we should or shouldn't have done." "But it's nice to have a little bit of friction now and again."
Sparky Marky
Salgado definately seems to have added a bit of class down the right hand side....ok he was exposed against Bale but he is looking fitter every game and last night was out running lads more than 10 years younger than him....Fantastic Professional and I'm glad we've got him. Amo
I still wonder if we could move Salgado inside. With his shaggy locks and ability to throw his weight around, it would be Savage reincarnate.
Montfort
I heard an interview with Salgado where he said he needed a number of consequitive run outs to get up to the pace of the game.
Backroom Tom Posted March 25, 2010 Backroom Share Posted March 25, 2010 Good to see it was something and nothing, certainly didn't effect either of them in the second half
alexanders
Was a big critic of this signing, but I have to eat my words. He is showing what an athlete he is and he plays his football with real passion. Starting to become one of my favourites.
