cn174 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 On the evidence of the photo in the LET, he's been taking lessons in how to look like you've been shot from Tugay!

alexanders Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 He's great. Might get Salgado on my new home shirt! I was very agains this deal in the beginning, but he proves to be a top pro and it rubs of on the other players. He is our new savage!

sparkspakespoke Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Quality showing thorugh now. Also looks a bit like the Heath Ledgers playing the Joker in Batman.
Majiball Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Surprise World Cup call up for España? I'm sure Ramos is quaking in his boots.
broadsword Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Not sure if this has already been posted ... but HELL'S BELLS, TALK ABOUT DISHING IT OUT! That was just out-and-out nasty.
Amo Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Not sure if this has already been posted ... but HELL'S BELLS, TALK ABOUT DISHING IT OUT! That was just out-and-out nasty. He obviously forgot to bow during the pre-match handshake.

thenodrog Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 While I think Salgado has done really well recently, it's wrong to say that the only reason he has been exposed is because of Diouf. Salgado was exposed because of his severe lack of pace and it's only a matter of time before he's exposed again. If you saw what Gareth Bale did to Chelsea (and Terry) yesterday Den I think you should re consider your comments on Salgado. Just like with Olsson shoving Bale from left back to left wing has created a star. The Le saux effect but in reverse.
bellamy11 Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 OK, glad that you too can see he's not good enough to play full back. So if we need a left winger, why not buy a left winger? Leave Bale alone, he's too slow. If you saw what Gareth Bale did to Chelsea (and Terry) yesterday Den I think you should re consider your comments on Salgado. He's a bit sluggish apparently.
DeadlyDirk Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Actually you'll find Gordon that den doesn't rate Bale. He's a bit sluggish apparently. I think it's a little unfair to bring posts up like that from last year though, I myself wasn't a big Bale fan but he's come on leaps and bounds recently and has to be one of the most improved players of the season. He was always a player that was tipped for big things and had talent but now he's actually showing it. When he destroyed Salgado that was the first time I'd really seen his explosive acceleration as well, perhaps as a youngster when he wasn't fully developed he didn't have that turn of pace but now he's grown up and reached 20 or so maybe he has become a little bit sharper. The emergence of Bale really has made me be less critical on Salgado's performance against him though, doesn't look like it was a one off and I think we can expect to see Bale to do it to other teams.
LeChuck Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Without wishing to get into an argument with Den about this (again!), he does have a tendency to write young players off based on a few performances. Bale is yet another example of how much a young player can progress in a relatively short space of time.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Bale is playing how he played at Saints (and Wales) a few years back. He used to bomb up and down the left all the time and scored a 5 or so from left back since he made his debut at 16. He then went to Spurs and suffered injuries and looked average. Now he's back to full fitness he's playing like he did at Saints and looks like he can only get better.
Dufflite Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Speaking of left backs - I'm watching the Pompey Villa game and Warnock is looking awful. I know a couple of Villa fans and they say that his performances seem to be going downhill.
Montfort Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Coiming into his own now... really impressed with his'rigour'... So am I !! Great performance yesterday.

Sorry for some reason I've only just seen this. The comment was only four months ago. Granted he's had some headlines recently due to hitting form but it was always a question of 'when', not 'if'. Imagine Bale on our left hand side now! It's just the comment about him being too slow which confused me. He is absolutely rapid.
Majiball Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Surely you can only judge a player on what he's to that date in his career? 4 months ago Bale was and had been a bit of a flop at spurs.

Undoubtedly and he still has big flaws in his game that need working on. However he isn't (and has never been) slow.
Majiball Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I know since harry came in that speed endurance and maximal speed has been given a lot of attention. He was never slow in the sense, but he's certainly improved in this aspect now and that takes time to do on the training pitch.
Amo Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Didn't his upturn in form coincide with Spurs moving him further forward? I thought he'd make a fine winger.

Yep, but he still looks quicker than before. Guess Old'arry saw what Sam had done by shifting Olsson further forward and nicked his idea, wouldn't be the first time for Old'arry.
