67splitscreen Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Actually you know what, moving Salgado to CM is not a bad idea. We need some quality there and he has it. However I am a bit mystified by you dropping EH DIouf who is currently our best attacking player by a country mile, and Nelsen who seems to have refound his form. If anything I wouldn say Nzonzi is the one in line to be dropped. He has been awful:- ----------------------Robinson Emerton----Nelsen----Samba------Givet ----------------Salgado---Jones EH Diouf-----------Dunn-------------Olsson ------------------------Kalinic I can't see what we would gain in switching Nelsen and Samba.

67splitscreen Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 To help Givet out? Then he shouldn't be playing, who's going to help Salgado out.
LeChuck Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I would try this out, especially at home: .................. Robinson Emerton . Samba . Jones .. Givet ........... Salgado ... Nzonzi .. Hoilett ...... Dunn ....... Olsson .................... Kalinic Salgado harrying, while Nzonzi holds the middle. He might even learn a trick or two from the former Galactico. Hoilett and Olsson out wide to give us pace and movement, Dunn supporting Kalinic in attack. This is the only chance you'll get to see this line-up, anyway. I'd definitely get Hoilett out of there, he's nowhere near ready. Diouf should play, he's been our best player so far. The rest looks decent though.
Presty On Tour Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Salgado is a sky sports pundit tonight for Scotland v Spain.
67splitscreen Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Extended by one year, which I think is fair enough. My link
Mattyblue Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Without doubt, even if he becomes less of a regular starter his experience and attitude is exactly what we need. Top man.
Amo Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011  Excellent. I've been waiting three years for that.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Extended by one year, which I think is fair enough. My link Not for me. He's had a good run but the legs are going, and when they go it's usually rapidly. Centre half, centre midfield can get away with it but at full back pace is essential. When you allow sentiment to rule your decision making you usually come unstuck.
King Kenny's Magic Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Not for me. He's had a good run but the legs are going, and when they go it's usually rapidly. Centre half, centre midfield can get away with it but at full back pace is essential. When you allow sentiment to rule your decision making you usually come unstuck. I think he's there for the spanish speaking youngsters that will be arriving. He's a top player and professional with a winning mentality. I'm glad he's staying longer.

67splitscreen Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Has Salgado done any coaching qualifications? no quips, they'd be given automatic.
Kelbo Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Has Salgado done any coaching qualifications? no quips, they'd be given automatic. I think all professionals have automatic UEFA B and I think Salgado has his A badge as well!!
Dunnfc Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Big Wages for perhaps a part time player next season... Great professional... 100% effort and genuine love for the club. Maybe used in a defensive midfield spot next year... Unsure on this on to be honest so i guess time will tell.
92er Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 On Sunday Salgado was taken to the cleaners. His attitude might well be superb and he might well be helpful towards in coming spanish speaking youngsters but if he is to get a pay rise as well as an extra year-neither of which I am happy about if they are to happen-i question the value we as a club get out of the deal. We should be working on a younger player growing into the right back position.
old darwen blue Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Has Salgado done any coaching qualifications? no quips, they'd be given automatic. Salgado does not need qualifications, he invented football
Hughesy Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Happy he is staying for another 12 months.... FAR more players ahead of him in the firing line to the exit.....Keith, Brown, Grella, Roberts, maybe even Dunn - just to name a few.
Billy Castell Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 He is slow, but I noticed during the West Brom game that Jones or Hoilett filled in the right back position until Salgado got back from an attack. Good man, and a pretty good player.
Ozz Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Personally I love Michel-as a player he is committed, experienced, skilful, reads the game as good as anyone I have seen other than Tugay and will indeed help ever increasing bunch of youngster in the 1st team squad. I'm absolutely delighted I will see him for at least another 12 months at Ewood. Foreign players come and go, and often in the Premier League all they do is take take take. I believe Michel is one of the best imports we have had, along with Tugs, and credit to Sam A for having the cajones to bend the chairmans ear in signing him Michel, My Belle He plays football like Howard Kendall, Howard Kendall !

Spot on But not the Allardyce bit

Good man, and a pretty good player. I also noticed in that game that he got no defensive support whatsoever from Hoillet. Something the young lad will have to learn if we are keeping Sally as our right back
