Ninjathunder Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Good solid debut with a couple of great interceptions

LeChuck Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I know he's out of position at left back, but I can't think of a natural left back we could have signed for £1.5 million that would be better than he was today. If he keeps that up we've got a bit of a bargain I reckon.
Balwer Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I liked Stevie, but Chimbonda's effort today was better than anything Warnock produced as a left back from recent memory.
booth Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Crap game today but he was one of the plus points and didn't put a foot wrong. Good bit of business
yellowsubmarine Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Pretty good replacement for Warnock, i must say.
mellison24 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 It's sumfin about the blue and white. His best form was at wigan and (it wud appear) will restart with us.
john.leigh Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 OK I only watchd on TV, but it was the middle of the night here in Brisbane... Thought Pascal hasd a great debut & was one of our more exciting players, along with Hoillet when hecame on Who awards the man of the match thingies... Dunny was soooo frustrating last night - how could he be awarded it??
roverich Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 not a patch on Stephen Warnock. I don't know the details around the sale (price, strength of players wishes, etc.) but I'm very disappointed the club have let him go.

I don't know the details around the sale (price, strength of players wishes, etc.) but I'm very disappointed the club have let him go. Hmmm how to stop players leaving? Good question roverich............ now be a good lad and put your answers on a postcard and send one to every football Chairman and manager outside of Madrid. :rolleyes btw RibbleValleyRover.................. http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?s=&...st&p=814903 Personally I had Givet as MoM with Chimbonda and Dunny second and third but lots had Chimbonda down as the main man. We don't want waggy's of course but could we have your thoughts today RVR?
Hughesy Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Warnock in - £1.5m, Sold £8m Chimbonda in - £1.5m - BARGAIN!!! Very good debut, crucial and awesome timing to get the block in during the first half. Did a few very good runs with the ball too!
cletus Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Chimbonda had a good solid debut. Hopefully he`ll get even better. I remember him playing against us for Wigwam a few seasons ago, & he was top notch then. It`d take a very brave/stupid Rovers fan to have his name put on their shirt tho.......unless they were velcro letters!! ......given his mercenary-like attitude to football. GOOD BIT OF BUSINESS BY SAM
American Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Have always liked Chimbonda. The shop still have the any name for a fiver special?
mellison24 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Do we have any gud chants for him? other than 'bananas on his feet' and '*players name* boom-boom boom-boom-boom'?
JAL Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Excellent debut, interesting to see him first half talking or 'geeing up' his fellow defenders as if he was a captain when it was in fact his first game after only a couple of days meeting everyone at the club very encouraging indeed. Cant wait to see Salgado in action now.
rovers1995 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Was impressed by his runs down the wing and 2 shots that nearly led to goals. Very good debut.
CaliRoverNYC Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 He kept a ton of pressure off Robbo, and he gave us some chances up front too, However seeing as I am giving Kalinic and Hoillett time to come around I must be equally cautious about Pascal. Sad to see Warnock go but its modern football, and we made a good profit on him.

The thing with Pascal is, is he not premiership quality already whilst the other two are just starting out with a lot to prove .
CaliRoverNYC Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 The thing with Pascal is, is he not premiership quality already whilst the other two are just starting out with a lot to prove . Very true but he also may be more motivated in match #1 than in match #17, which is why i'm not going to say we replaced warnock with a better cheaper player.... yet. But so far so good right?
Wolverine Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Who's that playing at full back is it Chimbonda? Pascal Chimbonda? (I really miss the old Shabani Nonda song that was based on The Automatic's 'Monster')
mellison24 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Who's that playing at full back is it Chimbonda? Pascal Chimbonda? (I really miss the old Shabani Nonda song that was based on The Automatic's 'Monster') Who's that wearing the feminine gloves? Is it Chimbonda? Is it Chimbonda???
rovers1995 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 To be honest, my 9 year old sister started singing yesterday 'Who's that with the ball at his feet, is it Chimbonda, is it Chimbonda.' She didn't even go to games when Nonda was here.
mellison24 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Who's that with bananas for feet? Is it Chimbonda? etc etc
rovers1995 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Who's that with bananas for feet? Is it Chimbonda? etc etc That song could get us into trouble though? Think about it
mellison24 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 That song could get us into trouble though? Think about it I'm guessing ur looking at 'racist remark'? But 'Chimbonda's got bananas on his feet' is no better at all and we ALL sang that!
thenodrog Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 That song could get us into trouble though? Think about it And for anybody who does actually 'think' it carries no racist connotations whatsoever.
