Downloaded Toy Home and Blazing Angels today:-

Toy Home - wasnt expecting anything here but found my self playing the demo a couple of times. It seems to use the sinaxis really well

Blazing Angels - Those looking for Ace Combat dont bother - this is quite poor

I am thinking of buying a TV so that I can play whenever I want to, currently gaming time is limited as we have one TV and it shared between me, the wife and the kids. I have found the one below, does anyone have one that is similar and any comments would be appreciated:

Now, one says 1080p Full High Definition Ready and one says 1080p True HD Ready - whats the difference? I know the way forward for those with a PS3 is to get a 1080p tv but its all so confusing?

All these comparison screens that I see between the 360 and PS3 probably mean sod all because with settings changes to the systems and tv they would probably look different still.

1080p, under any description results in the same thing. 1080i is the one that is apparently inferior. Anything that's is 1080p is apparently crisper and cleaner, whereas the 1080i is interlaced. Only noticeable in fast moving action, so I am told, and even then not exactly breathtakingly different.

Anyways, 720p is worse than 1080i is worse than 1080p. I have 1080p. I would advise you not to get a 1080i as the interlacing is somewhat iffy by the comments I see about them.

As for models, stay away from Viera, look for Samsungs, LGs and some Sharps. Do not buy from shops, get it online. I get a TV for £419 or so that should have been around 500-600 in Argos.

Strange, the standard rule of thumb is Panasonic and Pioneer are the best to go for, well with Plasma anyway. Heard very good things about Samsungs and Sony's are generally ok if overpriced. No idea about LCD although I have a small LCD for the bedroom (26" Sharp) and the picture on SD is rubbish. Far too much blurring close up.

1080i should de-interlace with no reduction in quality if you have a decent panel. Obviously you get what you pay for.

I take it your PS3 is online? (you can browse the web and goto the shop)

As commented in the PES thread it has been having some troubles and Konami are working towards bug fixes. Its been so bad that I havent even bothered trying online much myself (had 1 game that was near unplayable) I am Rover95 so add me if you like :rover:

I don't know what you are talking about when you say stay away from Viera.

I have got a 1080i 32 inch Panasonic Viera and its beautiful.

It has a 100Mhz refresh rate (twice the standard) which avoids the motion blur problems which supposedly affect 1080i screens.

Gears of War looks amazing and that is only using the supplied component cable.

Mine cost me £600 in August from www.pixmania.com and at the time it was £900 in Argos. Even now when I go in Currys/Dixons it is still £700+.

Sony, Panasonic and Pioneer are the best.

This is my pride and joy...

Don't get me wrong, Vieras are excellent quality, but I compared them two different brands which had almost identical specs (only refresh rate was slightly lower on LG) and there was a £300 price difference. I didn't get either though, got the one I posted up earlier. I'm happy with it.

Look for a good quality but reasonably priced one, and make sure it is HD and get a HDMI lead for your PS3 :)

ye i can do all that, its just pes, it keeps sayin error opening port blah blah blah but i cant even get onto the servers so i duno if its my modem or just pes but i can get onto the store and stuff, i'l add ya

I think it will just be PES being its crapy self. Forgot to try mine for you tonight because I was on fifa. If I remember I will check tomorrow night and let you know

Ah, I was playing my pal (who by the way lost connection - I phoned him up and he was swearing at the dog who had chewed through his phone filter :lol: )

I know what you mean about making it easier to play. Other games you can click on your buddy list and just play them so why not this.

Is anybody else having problems downloading from the psn store at the moment? I've been trying to download the Uncharted demo since Thursday but have been unable to.

I have been fine. What are the problems? Is it just the unchartered demo? I take it if you goto system settings and run a connection test everything runs though ok?

No its not just the uncharted demo its everything that was available since Thursday, I tried to download something from the previous week and that worked fine. Nevermind because I'll probably buy Uncharted anyway. Just hope I don't have this problem from now on.

You tried downloading it from the US store to see if you have the same problem?
