Sorry if this has already been covered.

How good is the PS3's backward compatibility with PS2 titles. Does everything work or are there exceptions.

Also how would I go about carrying my saved info for the PS2 games onto the PS3. Does it read old style memory cards or would I need to start from scratch?

Ok, for the full list of compatible games look here - Click (note that you will need the 60GB model) Also, they release patches that do sometimes include more games (to be honest though I kind of like to start from scratch. I have only kept Resi 4, GTA San Andreas, God of War II and the Sonic Mega Collection but they keep me going while I have been waiting for more PS3 games to come)

With regard the game saves, you will need a device like Action Replay you need to extract the save file using this and the you can put the usb stick into your ps3 and upload the save file to your virtual ps2 save card (if you have previously tried to play a ps2 game on the ps3 it should set this up for you automatically)

Right,

Having decided that I am probably getting a PS2, and wanting one that is backwardly compatibly, why do practically all websites only seem to have the 40gb version for sale?

All the standard online retailers - amazon, pcworld and game for example - don't sell the 60gb one.

Are they that in demand??

What happened to the £350 60gb value pack as mentioned here on gamespot

Unfortunately Sony have decided to discontinue the 60GB version of the PS3 in Europe. I am led to believe that in the next month or so they are going to announce details of a new 80GB version of the PS3 which will have full backwards compatibility and will be under £300.

If that's true then surely that pushes the 40gb version under £200, providing they continue with that version.

First off I take it you mean PS3

Now for the bad news. Unfortunately, they have stopped making the 60GB version with the backwards compatibility. What you had was a load of people saying they didn't want it and the ps3 cost too much for them to buy. So they took it out (along with some other stuff which included card readers) and made it cheaper and some people were complaining that it didn't have the same features as the 60GB - you just cant please everyone.

Really though you should ask yourself if you will really play much of the PS2 games with all the PS3 games to catch up with?

Sony have confirmed today that the new playstation store will launch on 15th April in the UK.

Sony has also confirmed that a content update to follow on April 17 will see the launch of the Metal Gear Solid Online Beta trial.

"To accompany the launch, the PlayStation Store will see an exciting selection of content available from 17th April, consisting of the launch of the Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta, building up to the launch of the next chapter in one of PlayStation's most loved franchises, Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots." Exciting, isn't it?

And there's more: "Also available will be Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror, a great new addition to the hugely popular Warhawk experience and Lair: Diabolical Dragons Pack and Skyguard Upgrade pack, offering new and exciting features and functions. There will also be a collection of trailers including the latest for GTA IV, as well as a Sega Superstars tennis demo."

It is expected that the new PS Store will be delivered via a new firmware update, version 2.30, which will also pack new DTS surround sound features, although there was no mention of it in the PS Store press release.

I haven't touched this game because to be quite honest it doesn't work. They tried to make it use the sixaxis and they just messed the whole thing up. Anyway, from what I have been reading around the place they are releasing this new patch to include analogue control which may improve it. I have no real proof of this of course.

The problem would still be though that I wouldn't pay more that £15 for it.

Probably not much but I keep most of my consoles now for Nostalgia reasons. Recently I've been playing the Saturn nearly as much as the PS2. I'd rather pay that bit extra for backwards compatibilty so I can keep the old PS2 games but make some much needed space.

(Also the PS2 would make a great birthday present for a young kid in the family - not that I'm tight  )

Anyway, when's the next PES update due out?

I have given up on PES2008 and judging from the comments of the lead developer (Seabass) it appears that PES2009 is not going to be much better.

I am however very impressed with the UEFA Euro 2008 game, downloaded the demo and was pleasently surprised by the improvements (game was built on the FIFA 08 engine). It plays quicker, smoother and gameplay is superb, also the new modes such as "captain your country" sound unique and exciting. I am deffo going to pick this up next week when it comes out.

WHERE?!?! I cannot seem to find any of these demos you guys always talk about. It isn't that the shop isn't automatically updating or anything.

I got it from the PS Store to (the uk one) it should just be under latest demo's?

I like it and find the passing better than the current fifa however, I refuse to buy any tournament football game. I have loads of times in the past and don't feel its value for money. You watch, in a few months there will be loads in the bargain bin when no one cares about the tenement anymore and the new season is starting.

Just been invited to an event organised by Sony that will allow me to play GTA4. The event takes place on Monday so will hopefully post my impressions.

Wow, very jealous. Is it just GTA or will you get your paws on other gems too?

I've been told that it is a GTA only event. I'll hopefully post impressions on Monday evening.

Just bought Fight Night Round 3. Has anyone got this? I'm totally rubbish at this. I struggled to beat a featherweight when I was M.Ali!

I had it when I first bought my PS3. Got bored because you dont feel like your going anywhere in career mode.

Anyway:-

I ALWAYS change the controls round in fight night because I dont like using the analogue for punches so make your buttons the main punch. What you will need the analogue for is the power punch - think hadooken in street fighter and your there.

The most important thing for you though is to learn how to block. If you can block you can beat anyone.

Let your oppo get tired and then smash him into the ground.

Don't be afraid to do a cheeky headbut (not to many or you will be disqualified)

ALWAYS - do the full training. I know its boring but you need to build your man up.

Has anyone else been having problems playing videos in the PS3 internet browser since the new store update? Haven't gotten round to testing youtube, but I used to be able to watch southpark on certain websites, but since I installed the update I can only get audio :(

I've read about problems with some MP4 streaming too.
