Cocker Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Has anyone else been having problems playing videos in the PS3 internet browser since the new store update? Haven't gotten round to testing youtube, but I used to be able to watch southpark on certain websites, but since I installed the update I can only get audio I've read about problems with some MP4 streaming too. What I would say is for the moment just give things another week while the world finishes hammering their servers then try again. It could even be that they are aware of the issue (they have admitted to the shop icon problems already and are looking at it) and once everyone finishes with this big update they may release a mini patch to iron the other little things out too.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Uhm guys? Metal Gear Online? Spent ages downloading, installing and patching the thing last night, you also need a Konami ID. Servers for the Beta open from 21st April - 6th May. Free for Europeans!
Cocker Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Metal Gear Online? Spent ages downloading, And he isnt joking. You download the demo itself and then you boot it up and there is a mega patch to download (which you cant download in the background while you play something else). Took me about 3 and a half hours last night. You must then goto the Konami site for it and register an ID Click. Thats where I gave up last night and went to bed. Also reading this morning that home is going to be delayed again - nothing yet confirmed though
Wolverine Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I also gave up with Metal Gear at the Konami page. They want you to create so many id's and passwords and input them twice it is ridiculous. I may try again today but the long and unecessary wait (why not put the updated verion of the game in the PSN in the first place) has just dampened the little enthusiasm I had in the first place.

I finally registered my ID this morning so will hopefully be able to give it a go tonight. Konami are really annoying me with all this. Its like what they did with Pro Evo. Yes the game was rubbish but what made matters worse was when you went online with it you had to register your copy. This would register it to your account too meaning that no one else could go online with your copy of pro evo meaning that anyone buying a second hand copy couldn't go online.
Guest Kamy100 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Konami have now said that the beta will launch on 26 April: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=187417 Although it could also be delayed again, it appears to me that they have not learnt from the online mistakes it has/continues to make with PES.
benhben Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 This would register it to your account too meaning that no one else could go online with your copy of pro evo meaning that anyone buying a second hand copy couldn't go online. Really? Thats pants, with the price of PS3 games, pre owned games are all that some people can afford.

Harsh but necessary. They do it so that people don't use a keygen and take a pass to make a different account from somebody else. Steam does it too for Half Life 2 etc. When I bought it, it told me the key had already been activated because somebody had used a keygen so I had to go through the hassle of proving the key was mine sending pictures of receipt and so on.
Cocker Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Yup, cant connect to the servers for metal gear even though I now have the Game ID. Oh well, I wont care about it on Tuesday anyway
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 It got pushed to Friday Cocker, I guess nobody mentioned it. On the upside, they are letting us play it for a few extra days I hear. Hold tight
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Been on Metal Gear Online all night after a short 2 minute patch. The online is flawless and despite the fact the servers are jammed pack, it is on par with CoD4/WarHawk. You might want to do the training first though Great game so far.

American Rover12 Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Grrrr. Still no date on the pixel junk expansion pack.
Cocker Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Grrrr. Still no date on the pixel junk expansion pack. Come on, give them their dues. That has to be one of the best updates they have done. I am looking forward to having a play on Haze. What started to look like a promising game has completely bored the pants off me. For starters I have FPS games coming out of my ears plus ones that look better than this. With all the delays and bringing it out a couple of weeks after the world has bought GTA was the worst commercial move they could have done - will anyone actually buy it? So, hopefully the demo will be good enough to convince everyone because after all it is a PS3 exclusive and its not like we have them coming out of our ears is it. For those that want to play condemned 2 now just download it from the American store - it scared the pants off me Will obviously download the Borne demo for a look but in my opinion it looks awful.
Cocker Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Yes I know these are bad quality (except the mirrors edge one) but I cant see them better anywhere else. Remember that this is very early footage:- Mirrors Edge - click (this one interests me allot) Killzone 2 - just happy to see some new gameplay at Loooooooooong last - click Resistance 2 (up to a 60 player online)
Guest Kamy100 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Good quality Motorstorm 2 footage: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_6430_en.html Good Quality Killzone 2 Footage: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_6429_en.html After reading all the information from the Playstation Conference today it appears that 2008 is going to be huge for PS3 owners.
Cocker Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Just downloaded and played the HAZE demo. Now, for a game that I had really started to lose interest in it did have be pleasantly surprised. Good controls/Good graphics (although I have no idea why on these machines now when you walk into a plant it cant move instead of just disappearing as you walk at it). And good gameplay. A little sad still as I suspect it will be a price drop that makes me pick it up in the end. If they had released it when they first said they would I would have already bought it. Seems like the worst time to bring out a game sandwiched between GTA and Metal Gear
benhben Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 Has anyone had any trouble signing onto the playstation network to play online games recently? Last week or so it takes afew failed attempts to sign in until it eventually manages it. Probably my wireless router thats always playing up.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Whoooo hooooo!! http://www.psu.com/In-game-XMB,-trophies,-...a0003817-p0.php In-game XMB, trophies, in-game soundtrack coming in June Posted on May 30th, 2008 at 03:31 EDT Earlier this month we reported that trophies would be coming to the PlayStation 3 in the next system update, firmware 2.4. Recently other news outlets have been reporting similar tips, stating that not only will trophies be available, but full in-game XMB and use of custom in-game soundtracks. According to Gaming-Age.com, PS3 users can expect such features as universal friends lists and in-game messaging. Also it's been confirmed that Sony already has a title with trophy support on the way. Sony's Official PlayStation website for upcoming Pixeljunk title, PixelJunk™ Eden, has been listed to support the new trophy system. "The SDK 2.40 will be available to dev. late in June. The actual Firmware 2.40 might see the light of day a lot sooner (my personal guess would be launch aligned or slightly before MGS4 )." - stated PSU’s forum insider. Also with the addition of improved Audio/Video communication, it's safe to say Sony is finally providing it's users with a better online community, nearing the quality of Microsoft's Xbox Live. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more information. UPDATE: Videogaming247 has obtained some new tidbits of information regarding the above story. -Sony is currently shifting through the PlayStation 3's library of games in order to see if the XMB is fully compatible or not. It is expected the new menu system, in-game messaging etc will function in all games, though the current black menu screen will likely be retained for the majority of titles. -User music is only included in new development tools, which have only just been distributed to coders. Therefore, existing games won't utilize the feature unless they are patched to do so. -The same applies to the new trophy system; developers have only just obtained the tools necessary to input the feature into their software, so it'll be a while until they show up in games. -Some elements of the XMB won't be usable in-game until after the next firmware update, such as the photo viewer.
Hasta Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I'm still not buying one until they re-introduce PS2 compatibility. It seems daft that we know it can be done but they've removed it.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Why don't you buy a PS3 2nd hand from Game or somewhere. It'll have their guarantee and will have the compatibility.
Cocker Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I'm still not buying one until they re-introduce PS2 compatibility. It seems daft that we know it can be done but they've removed it. To be honest excuses like this still amaze me. Whenever I upgrade to a new console I dont really want to play the old consoles games. The only PS2 game I have bought while having a PS3 (I do have the one that can play PS2 games) is God of War II - and that was the same week I bought the PS3. Now, the other games I have left are:- GTA San Andreas Sonic Mega Collection Resident Evil 4 (And as said) God of War II These games now just gather dust due to the excellent games that are now available and I would never walk into a shop and buy a PS2 game now. Take the plunge mate and buy one and you will forget about your PS2 I promise.
M-K Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 If it played PS2 games, I'd get one too - there isn't a single PS3 game, now or in the near future, that I want to play but I've got a handful of old PS2 stuff that I'd like to revisit without it looking like crap on an LCD telly, and I want a blu-ray player. Re-introduce PS2 compatibility and I'd buy one tomorrow.
Cocker Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 there isn't a single PS3 game, now or in the near future, that I want to play Wow what a statement. Everyone has their own opinion but to say that you wouldn't WANT to play:- Metal Gear 4 Unchartered Gran Turismo Resistance Fall of Man Warhawk Motostorm Amazes me because anyone who likes playing games should like to play on these. (Note I have left the ones such as COD 4/GTA out as they are on more than one platform)
