Just wondering if anyone can help me out, I was under the impression that the 160GB PS3 was to be released on Friday (31st) and have been waiting for its release to get one but I can't seem to find it anywhere online and just wondered if anybody has any info on release dates etc or if they have changed?

Ahh thanks. I was just reading game central on teletext this morning and they have it as being released tomorrow, I will just have to wait and see if any do become available in the next 24hrs, thanks for your help anyway.

Looking around the internet it looks like HMV were the only outlet with the pre-order available, but the sticking point is the pre-order was pulled yesterday I think it looks as though there may be some delay to the release now with the way things are going. Hopefully it will be available in the next week or so as I have some money set aside for this purchase and the wait is a pain. May end up getting one of the 80GB deals that are floating about at this rate.

Nice one. Make sure you buy Call of Duty 4. Best game on PS3 by far in my opinion and online is flawless in my experience. Quality game

Anyone have problems with some games online with a wireless connection? The new pes09 online for me is shocking, half the time wont sign in and can never find anyone with a decent connection to play, hence loaddsss of lag. Someone posted on PesFan that Konami doesnt support wireless connections (which is stupid).

Has anyone changed from wireless to wired connection and noticed much difference in online performance? Im thinking of doing it, but as the ps3 is in a different room to the router its a pain in the arse.

New system update today. Still downloading so dont know what its for as yet.

If its the same one from yesterday then it will be the ability to play flash vids in full screen - which is nice.

Gutted that the EU store still dosent have street fighter HD

Because this sounds like the full open Beta my guess is that it will be available in the PS Store when the normal Thursday update hits so no key needed.

Yup that is right, when you log on tomorrow you will be asked if you want to download the "HOME" client, which then appears on the media bar once installed.

I have been part of the closed beta for the last 2 weeks and it is pretty good. Did get bored after the first day as there isn't much to do, but now have got into a routine of meeting up with my "virtual friends" in the home square, going playing some bowling/pool/arcade machines and lurking around the shopping centre. The shops are all closed at the moment, but I think from tomorrow you can actually purchase clothes etc. I think also it is good to have one of those PS3 Keyboards as it'll help when talking to friends (not many people have bluetooth headsets).

At the moment it is sparce, but with the plans that Sony has for all the different areas etc. then I think by this time next year HOME will be somthing really cool and different. It does have a lot of potential.

Talking of potential, friend of mine who is gaming journalist has played the 6 levels of Killzone 2, below are his impressions:

I went to play Killzone 2 last week and am happy to report that it is excellent. First of all looks, it is the best looking console game that I have ever seen!! (this coming from a Gear of War 2 addict is some complement). The levels are so well designed and the graphics are mind blowing, pretty much all the environment is destructible, and for example when something blows up the partical effects are just amazing. The levels that I played were set in 2 locations, the first 3 were in a city environment, the rain was lashing down and everything looked so realistic, the other 3 levels were in a post apocalyptic wastleland (like fallout 3) and that also looked really good.

In terms of gameplay Killzone 2 is also rock solid. If you are expecting something like GOW2 where you can just run around and shoot everywhere then this isn't the game for you, there are of course times were you can do that, but there are also times where you have to use tactics and work your way through enemies. The AI is also very smart, for example I was working my way down a street and using cars for cover and picking off enemies, I got half way down the street and was very pleased with myself, however the AI had worked out what I was doing, so what it did was to send troops down the left and right hand side, this then forced me to abandon my car cover and engage in more face to face combat, I have never seen such smart AI. There are also other touches such as your team tripping over pipes etc which are very neat and add to the realism. One of the levels that I played ended with us having to defend a town square, the encounter last nearly 15 minutes with wave after wave of enemies, it was really intense and I can honestly say that my heart was pounding when we got to the end of it, the other good thing is that checkpoints are very, very regular, so in that long encounter there were lots of checkpoints and so when I died it didn't mean that I went right back to the start.

All in all Killzone is going to be a very big title for the PS3, and lives upto the hype, it looks great and my worry was that the gameplay would suck, but after playing the single player I can say that it is a really engaging and epic experience, you know how much I love Gear Of War 2, but I think that if the other levels are as good as the 6 that I played then this is going to be better than GOW2. Game is very very polished, it should be of course because it has had an extra year of development and 3 months out from release the final product will be even better, it just shows that if developers are given time and not rushed into releasing games.

I also so a trailer for God Of War 3 but can't talk about it until 14th December..............oh go on then all I will say is WOW.

Yeah bit like that Hughesy.

Basically you create a person and then that person transported to this virtual world filled with other people. You are given an apartment which you can decorate etc and invite friends to. There are is also a massive town square, shopping centre, cinema (where you can watch trailers etc. soon there will be full length films), Bowling Alley (which has playable arcade machines and pool tables). There are also going to be themed areas (ie Far Cry 2). You could also for example invite all of your virtual friends to your apartment and then launch say FIFA 09 from there and you can play each other.

You can also interact with everyone, you can talk via your bluetooth head set or type messages. Your character can also do "actions" such as wave etc. Your character can also dance, which my sound geeky but is fairly funny. HOME is a great way to meet up with people from your friends list or meet new people.

The possibilities are endless, I think that this is going to be huge. The beta that have been involved in for the last 2 weeks has shown to me that this could eventually end up being as big a "social networking" experience as Facebook.

Well I have been trying to get into the store since six and still no home (even though the store has updated) I am more gutted that another week goes by and us poor eu gamers are the only ones in the world without street fighter hd. If January hits and we still dont have it I am not going to by it and just wait until Feb for the next Street Fighter Game.

EDIT: I did get to download HOME later on but didnt get a chance to check it out. Its on the XMB above the Store if anyone missed it.
