Is the stage set for Sam to bring in a loan player, such as Zenden (whom we've been liked to before) or another free agent?

We can't bring in any loan players until January.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sam looks at some free agents should Zurab go to Boro though, with the likes of Zenden, M'Bami and Appiah still being available.

Edit: Bryan, where did you read that? It's not Giles Barnes is it?

M'Bami's currently on trial at Wigan, and I don't know why we'd be looking at another holding midfielder.

From around the end of August free agents. Max. age of 32.

There's some players in there with real talent who have totally lost their way.The rest would just be squad fillers at best.

One or two have found clubs since, Hesselink for one.

There is one on there that frightens the life out of me if Di Santo is recalled, Henri Camara.

Cassio de Souza Soares

Edu Dracena

Angel Lafita

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink

Lucas Neill

Camel Meriem

Julian de Guzman

Modeste M'Bami

Jorge Andrade

Guillermo Franco

Stephen Appiah

Sebastian Viera

Felix Ettien

Michael Ball

Ebi Smolarek

Gionatha Spinesi

Brahim Hemdani

Henri Camara

Vladimir Korytko

Roberto Stellone

Jesus Maria Lacruz

Santiago Ezquerro

Theo Lucius

Serginho Greene

Lorenzo Stovini

Jurgen Macho

Nicola Ventola

Luis Martinez

Saliou Lassissi

Ervin Skela

Timo Ochs

Serhat Akin

Mirnes Sisic Dede

Libor Dosek

Rudolf Skacel

Libero Parri

Moritz Volz

Damian Joel Gimenez

Google 'Lucas Neill' and the first result that pops up is:

"Report: Former West Ham Defender Lucas Neill Wants More Money"

Sounds about right. He's possibly the biggest mercenary in football.

Edit: Just realised that was a news story and has already been replaced by a newer one regarding moving to Sunderland.

I thought the one at the top of list Cassio de Souza Soares would have generated some interest.

Very talented Brazilian, that has lost his way more recently, AM to boot, contract terminated in the summer for failing to to turn up for pre season.

19 in 62 for Galatasaray in the last two seasons.

Also cross of Julian DeGuzman from that list as he signed with Toronto FC.

I would take a look at Guille Franco from that list. He will definitely be looking for a club where he can impress enough to keep his place in Mexico's World Cup squad. If we think DiSanto is going back in January we will definitely need another striker.

Looks like Franco might be at West Ham according to this: http://www.solonoche.com/2009/09/guillermo...l-west-ham.html . Not sure how reliable that is though.

We might as well wait until January to get a replacement for Di Santo since we're not just limited to free agents then.

It was all going so well until his agent compared him to Emile Heskey on SSN!
