rovers1995 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Ewood Park could host a training camp in the 2018 world cup along with Deepdale, Prenton Park and the DW Stadium. This is if Liverpool's world cup bid is successful. How good would this be to be representing the Noth West at the biggest and best football stage in the World? Come on England. Back the Bid 2018.

CrazyIvan Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Nice to see they can spell correctly 'Eewood Park'
steven Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 i hope we don't get the world cup I hope we do!
rovers1995 Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 i hope we don't get the world cup Why?
American Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I figure West Ham/Millwall helps the US' chances of getting it.
Backroom Tom Posted September 3, 2009 Backroom Posted September 3, 2009 As a spectacle I actually hope we don't get it, part of the charm of the World Cup for me is it being in a different place with a different culture.
CaliRoverNYC Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I think the US would more likely get the 2nd of the two cups being fought for. The only down side to a country getting a WC in my opinion is 2+ years with nothing but friendly matches
Mr Maureen Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I hope we do! I hope we win the world cup.
neekoy Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Australia has to be the choice "COME PLAY!!" But seriously, it should be Australia
Mr. E Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Just a training ground? Surely Ewood can host the smaller group games that don't have that many fans?
roversmum Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Hopefully the Blackburn End facade will have had a clean by then but I'm not getting my hopes up...
champions1995 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Just a training ground? Surely Ewood can host the smaller group games that don't have that many fans? I think all the stadiums in the World Cup have to have a minimum capacity of 40,000, so Ewood is too small. Also, there are several grounds in the North West region that are larger than Ewood hence they would be chosen instead.
Mattyblue Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...p-2018-bid.html The Olypic Stadium has a chance for games. So that's Wembley, Olympic Stadium, Emirates and Tottenhams new ground. Only in England would the capital city have FOUR world cup venues.

I think I would rather have a northwest cup during close season to help highlight the area. We have had the Emirates cup etc this season. Why not a competition involving the clubs in the northwest - which would also bring in more cash for the smaller clubs.
