Clitherover Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 According to LT Salgado is keen to play once more alongside David Beckham, and is ready to try to persuade him to join Rovers in the next open transfer window. This is as much as I can make out, anyone who's bought the paper please ellaborate on the topic.

joey_big_nose Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 considering we have exeeded our wage budget already to the tune of £5 million a year it is hard to see this happening!?
LeftWinger Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 http://www.tribalfootball.com/salgado-keen...lackburn-317741 Sounds like the players would need to have a whip round
j166429 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 considering we have exeeded our wage budget already to the tune of £5 million a year it is hard to see this happening!? Beckham would pay part of his salary to play in Europe and if we get some of the players of the salary budget who knows...?
Clitherover Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 Just spotted someone's link to The Sun newspaper in the ''reflections on tranfer window'' topic, looks more like a case of the papers making a big deal out of something Salgado said. edit.. yes that article Left Winger
joey_big_nose Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Beckham would pay part of his salary to play in Europe and if we get some of the players of the salary budget who knows...? I think Salgado is joking! If a set of players will give up thousands of pouds of their own salary to get Beckham aboard I will eat every hat on Saville Row....!
JC4LAB Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Cant see Posh & Becks wanting to buy shoes at Tommy Balls(or whatever it is now) or having a curry at the Khyber
mogster Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I think this is exactly why Salgado was signed. He is the first 'big' name that Sam has signed for Rovers but he will definitely be wanting more. Sam has already sent the message out that he intends to continue taking players who are just past their best and prolong their careers as he did at Bolton. Once you have one on board it's much easier for the rest, especially when the first one only says good things about you. It may or (more likely) may not be Beckham but I've been convinced from the get go that Salgado will be used in an ambassadorial role to attract further 'past their use by date' superstars..... And I think that's genius!
LeftWinger Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Cant see Posh & Becks wanting to buy shoes at Tommy Balls(or whatever it is now) or having a curry at the Khyber No, but they could live in Cheshire easily enough. Can't see it myself, but if we could find a few quid to pay his wages on loan (it'd only take a bit out of our transfer budget), then it would be a great move for all concerned. Pretty much guaranteed first team football, he'd definitely boost attendances and he's certainly better than what we have in the centre of midfield.
RoversSG Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 From what i read, it sounds more of someone asking Salgado what he thinks of Beckham and naturally, he sings his praises and jokes that he would like to see Becks here. Then it became a case of some reporter adding 1+1 and getting 3

If Beckham is serious about WC 2010 then he has to play in the Premier League and if that is the case you are down to a handful of clubs that might accommodate him. One of which is Rovers- I'd be extremely disappointed if the Trust did not see Beckham as worthwhile supporting.
Kelbo Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 considering we have exeeded our wage budget already to the tune of £5 million a year it is hard to see this happening!? It wouldnt cost Rovers a penny in wages, in fact we would be quids in, he the most marketable footballer in the world!!

unluckymorton Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Cant see Posh & Becks wanting to buy shoes at Tommy Balls(or whatever it is now) or having a curry at the Khyber They don't know what they're missing at the Khyber. A Keema Special and garlic naan never did anyone any harm. If the Khyber aint good enough for them, they aint good enough for the Rovers.
T4E Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 If the Khyber aint good enough for them, they aint good enough for the Rovers. Maybe that's part of Sams "test"?
OhmiBRFC Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Just "LOL" at the notion of Beckham coming to play at Ewood.
dazmaz Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Cant see Posh & Becks wanting to buy shoes at Tommy Balls(or whatever it is now) aquamainia is moving there.
OhmiBRFC Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I doubt many players live actually live in Blackburn!
thenodrog Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Personally I cannot see the mighty Beckham marketing machine would ever contemplate BRFC and it's that that calls the shots in Milan, USA and at the FA. The notion is farcical, the Beckhams are farcical and it's a farce that would rebound on us in no time. If he's sh1t nobody would let us drop him without press, media, Prem League, FA Uncle Tom cobley and all sticking their effin noses in. Anyway if it's football we are basing this on rather than marketing and satisfying the green eyed God the truth is that he is no longer good enough to go to South Africa. On the bright side Hovis would pay a fortune to use him and dub Joe Galdwin's voice over his. Eeey up Victorrrria av bin rrringing mi cap all morning and tha's been bracking t'stove long enough. So get of them bony knees and get thisell of tut pantrrry and mek us sum of my favourrrrite trrripe and pickerrrl sandwiches on hovis brrrown whilst I put some brrrracking on me boots. And mind you wrrrap em up in't sports page too. T'lads'll ruv some prrre match snap before t'kick off. Now off you go chuck and mind you don't srrrip on't frrrags in them new crrrogs. Oh and if there's any ot trrrripe and hovis left over mek sure that you save t'best bits for me favourrrrite ferrrrrrit Arrrex.
OhmiBRFC Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 IF this happened; he would bring in thousands of ££.

rebelmswar Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 IF this happened; he would bring in thousands of ££. If this happens, certainly the apocalypse is upon us. I can see flocks of Beckhamites rolling into Ewood, U.S. network T.V. stations staking out all of Blackburn's flash areas, the dead rising from the grave, mass hysteria. But Sammy, if you can do this thing, you will have made the lives of thousands of season ticket holders.

Stuart Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 We've discussed this before. For: He'd pay for himself in marketing revenue. Would bring the media spotlight and eyes of the world to Ewood. We'd sell thousands of shirts around the world. Sam's ego will be telling him he could pull it off so he might even try. Beckham will be doing all he can to make the World Cup squad so would probably have a good half season. Against: Our 'little' club wasn't enough for Bentley's inflated ego so why would it be for Beckham. If there was even the slightest possibility of him coming to Blackburn there'd be other clubs ahead of us: Spurs, West Ham, Stoke, Hull, Aston Villa, the list goes on. I can't believe I've even mulled it over as it's just not going to happen. Do you mean "flasher areas"?
