JAL Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 5 live basically saying our entire team is poor. Even saying that 17 yr old Jones won't be good enough to start in the league next week, no S H * T I think we all need to listen to these guys and admit we arent that good then we will have a chance of improving.

rebelmswar Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 How biased are they? Get the stop watches out, Blackburn are making a substitution... Oh to still have Tugs, he would have had the guy screaming with his leaving the field tactics.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 The harsh reality that no matter how biased they are we have sounded very average, it doesnt sound like we have strung 2 passes together all game. The only reason they are commenting on this game is because 5 live smelt blood and wanted to see us lose. True, looks like we are going through on the back of an average performance and a bit of luck. Thing is this performance tonight gives Sam the backing to bring the likes of Pedersen and Roberts back, he can just say i made changes but it didn't work so i'm going back to these players.
Mr. E Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 90 MINS: WOW, The corner comes in from the right, Adebola powers the header goalwards and Robert Earnshaw somehow manages to hook the ball over the bar. It'd be tremendous defending if Earnshaw wasn't a Forest attacker. Sounds like Forest have taken a page from our books...
USRoverME Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Maybe its jsut different here in the US of A, but wouldn't you expect the major media outlets, in the lesser cup competition, to simply use the local commentators instead of sending the prime announcing talent to every single league 1 and championship pitch in the country?
Wolverine Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 True, we weren't but it isn't very professional not to even mention any positive aspect of any of the players. If we dwell on how poor we are, we will continue to be poor. The players need to realise they are good enough. Well, some of them(!)
Backroom trueblue Posted September 22, 2009 Backroom Posted September 22, 2009 Oh to still have Tugs, he would have had the guy screaming with his leaving the field tactics. Benni has taken that role on .... at least tonight he did according to Radio Lancashire commentary :lol
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 FT - 1-0 victory after 10 changes to the team that placed Everton. Whether the performance was good or not. The fact is that we're through to the next round which is a good result.
Grabbi Graeme Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Sunderland 2 Birmingham 0 FT P'boro 2 N'castle 0 FT Rovers 1 Forest 0 FT
ABBEY Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Stoke score in fergie-time... utd just made it 5-3 v city
Wolverine Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 utd just made it 5-3 v city I was toying with posting that earlier You cheered me up when I saw it! I can now turn of 5Live. Which cheers me up even more!
hollowsr Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Just waiting for the T**T that is Craig Burley to say something positive about Rovers, what an absolute pillock, nothing good to say about the team who has won.
bennyboyt11 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Well thank f**k for that! Gutted for Kalinic but doesn't sound like he had a poor game by any standard.
mogster Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I'm listening to Five Live Extra and it's crap. I wouldn't worry too much about it. There were probably only 25 people listening so it's not too influential.
CrazyIvan Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I'd have taken that at the start so reasonably happy. Not the greatest game from us but we won. The scottish guy (Craig Burley) is so obviously biased, he lives 5 miles away from the ground ffs!
Backroom Tom Posted September 22, 2009 Backroom Posted September 22, 2009 True, looks like we are going through on the back of an average performance and a bit of luck. Thing is this performance tonight gives Sam the backing to bring the likes of Pedersen and Roberts back, he can just say i made changes but it didn't work so i'm going back to these players. But Pedersen has been one of our best players this season, Roberts I agree is crap but Pedersen isn't the problem
DeadlyDirk Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Well a win's a win and were in the next round, some positives from the game such as Benni getting on the scoresheet, Jones' performance, N'Zonzi sounded like he did well again, match fitness for Emerton and Reid as well as Salgado and Kalinic showing signs of improving. Roll on the weekend.
Iceman Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Maybe its jsut different here in the US of A, but wouldn't you expect the major media outlets, in the lesser cup competition, to simply use the local commentators instead of sending the prime announcing talent to every single league 1 and championship pitch in the country? Believe me, when Semi final and final approaches the best commentators, will be around.
herbergeehh Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Just a few quotes from RoversRadio and Rovers.co.uk to brigthen the day: "Phil Jones has been really impressing" "I cannot believe such an accomplished performance from a 17 year old." "This evening just get better and better for the Rovers youngster. he's been absolutely impeccable" 90+2 MINS: Rovers make their final change, Benni McCarthy makes way for Pascal Chimbonda. McCarthy is in no rush but he finds time to applaud Phil Jones as he makes his way off the pitch, nice touch. Benni McCarthy is the hero as the goal scorer, and goalkeeper Jason Brown after saving a penalty for Rovers. But the main man, it's got to be said, is 17 year old Phil Jones. What a performance from the young man!
champions1995 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 So the teams through to the 4th round are Rovers, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Liverpool, Peterborough, Stoke, Barnsley and Sunderland.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 But Pedersen has been one of our best players this season, Roberts I agree is crap but Pedersen isn't the problem Not hard to be our best player when most of them have been average so far this season, time to drop him and play Diouf or Hoilett on that left wing. If Sam plays him Andrews or Roberts against Villa i'll be furious.
CrazyIvan Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 We won't be getting Burnley in the next round. They've lost to Barnsley 3 - 2
