This thread is excellent, so good in fact I just sent a link to Andy Payton.

It shows that a good percentage of you are absoultely scared stiff at the prospect of facing a much rejuvinated Claret side under the stewardship of O.C.

It shows that a good percentage of you really envy the football being played by Burnley at the moment.

It shows that a good percentage of you cannot give credit where credits due.

Let's hope Rovers improve their squad enough to give us a game next season, hoofing it up to Samba will not cut it against Burnley.

Credit where credit is due - you've done well to get promoted. However, that's the easy part as many so-called great championship teams have found out. There's plenty of better footballing teams than you come up and been humiliated weekin and week out. The step up is a big one.

I think you'll give us a good game - the rivalry will work in your favour I fear more than ours.

You currently have one asset and that's Coyle. He hasn't proved that he can deal with top class players yet, or spending decent amounts of money wisely. Look at Phil Brown - lauded up to Christmas - now an embarrassing joke.

Your fans will be your strength and your downfall. Let's be honest, you're good when you're winning. You're completely mental when you're not - almost as bad as the Geordies.

So you all talk a good game, and you all think a team finishing 5th in the Championship having lost a quarter of your games has suddenly become something unbeatable, so i just say to you - BRING IT ON

I never said we have become unbeatable, however after our cup runs and deserved promotion I'd like to think that we can beat a poor rovers side who narrowly avoided swapping places with Burnley.

There will be no 5 nill to rovers scorelines next year when we play, that my friend you can be sure of.

Anyway myself and Payts are off for a few with Calders and Wade and Kevin Mac this evening, I'll get the goss on what they think about the Derby next year.

Narrowly being seven points with Paul Ince for 19 games and an injury hit squad....

Would be interesting, bet they're terrified of the Rovers ;)

Is this some sort of pathetic attempt at name dropping?

Are we supposed to know who these people are or care what they think?

Don't the first two points contradict the third? Scared stiff and envious but not giving credit. How good are these percentages?

I congratulate Burnley for winning their chance at the big time and the level of finance they receive will keep them in business for a number of years to come. The fact that East Lancs has two Premiership clubs is good for the region and without question, is great for the fans of both teams.

Alongside the remarkable job Coyle has done in bringing a cohesion and desire to win at all costs attitude to their cause, several players have performed fantastically well to earn their chance in this league and they deserve it. The likes of McCann, Eagles, Paterson and Elliot were probably their best performers and i'm sure will be looking to take the league by storm.

However, that team stand absolutely no chance of survival next season. Arguably, a couple of strong additions may help preserve some integrity. However, how much money is Coyle likely to get? I'm a huge believer that talent can be bought on the cheap - not over one summer though. Buying this type of talent is a long-term process which gives Coyle very little time to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat if he chooses to remain there.

I'm very disappointed with the opinions of Nicko, especially regarding how highly he rates the Burnley players individually. Such a seasoned man would certainly be able to see that the Rovers players mentioned would arguably contribute a large amount to Burnley if they were there.

Coming back to the individual Burnley players though, the championship is a totally different league to the Premiership and the winning formula is not always the same. Togetherness and cohesion play a huge part of the game down there and individual quality counts for less. Now i'm not knocking Burnley by saying this, but they got promoted on the strength of their togetherness and team spirit with the occasion flash of brilliance and not on individual ability.

Next season, bias discounted, Burnley will be in deep trouble and their chances of staying in the league depend on how well the other teams do around them. Their tiny squad will not have the ability to cope with much better players outplaying them and their ability to bounce back after a string of defeats will be very difficult for such a small squad. Togetherness can only get you so far. My prediction = 20th.

T4E didn't you know these Dingles are more advanced than the rest of the world when it comes to mathematics, from an early age the extra finger on each hand has allowed them to do advanced mathematics in primary school that us normal people could only comprehend with a calculator.

My Burnley supporting friend told me that they're getting £10mill to spend on players, £10mill on other stuff and the rest kept safe. Apparently thats what Kilby said.

If you deserved to be promoted you would have finished first or second...

No they don't at all.

Some (not all) scared stiff

Some (not all) Envious

Some (not all) can't give credit

....to make it easier for you.

You're right. Those are good percentages.

Meaning Rovers didn't deserve promotion when we were in the play-offs?

Obviously not no. To say you deserve promotion when you finished 5th yet there is 4 more teams who had a better season than you. It's ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

I wasn't mocking the play-offs because it does give teams something to aim for rather than the top 3 coming up. If a team does fully deserve promotion they come up in the automatic spots. The play-offs are just a lottery at the end of it.

Actually you paid 400k for him

New concept for you. If you sit down and think REALLY hard you might be able to understand it.

What you paid for something in the past might not be what it is worth now!

SRW actually has a point here, he's just not very good at explaining it.

It is possible to find good players for £400k, just like we did with Samba. No reason to suggest Burnley can't do the same.

Thats what the facecomber is getting at.
